"They're more like mutant ravers." Capital Motion Picture Group has released a new official US trailer for Ravers, a horror comedy from the UK set at an illegal rave. This initially premiered a few years ago in 2018 at the FrightFest London Film Festival, and finally opens in US theaters this month. Murder on the dance floor in a witty, bloody horror about madness, mayhem and mutants... When a contaminated energy drink turns an illegal rave into a nightmare, a germaphobic journalist has to overcome her deepest fears to get her friends out alive. Starring Georgia Hirst as the journalist, Becky, joined by Natasha Henstridge, Eve Connolly, Dave Johns, and Orson Chaplin. This looks as wild and as crazy as promised, but probably not very good, though who cares! It's a crazy party movie and horror comedy all packed into one. Have fun. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for Bernhard Pucher's Ravers,...

Directed by Bernhard Pucher and written by Luke Foster (Betsy and Leonard), Ravers follows an illegal night-time rave, in a factory where contaminated energy drinks caused a worker to go fatally berserk, that turns into a nightmare. As a forgotten batch of the drink is found and consumed by drunken ravers, a truly terrifying physical transformation takes over and those unaffected try to escape in panic. Becky, a germophobic journalist, reluctantly there to cover the event on the behest of her boss (a cameoing Natasha Henstridge), is trapped among the increasingly hostile crowd of dancers, and to save herself and her friends, she has to overcome her deepest phobias to help them get out alive.

Writer, producer, director and horror mega-fan Mick Garris assembles a cadre of like minds to create “Nightmare Cinema.” This anthology feature is basically a two-hour, big-screen version of the several macabre TV anthology series he’s been involved with since the mid-’80s “Amazing Stories.” Comprising five directors’ tales linked by the inimitable Mickey Rourke as a diabolical projectionist, this feature falls short of Garris’ greatest effort in that vein: His all-star 2005-07 cable pet project “Masters of Horror.” Each segment here has strengths and weaknesses. If there are no outright duds, there’s no real triumph either. But the whole is certainly diverse, lively and reference-packed enough to please horror fans attracted to this kind of enterprise, which are so often (see last year’s “Tales From the Hood 2”) so, so much worse. Cranked Up Films is releasing to 25 U.S. screens and on demand June 21.

We finally have a trailer for you today after a couple of years of hearing about this Mickey Rourke horror film, Nightmare Cinema. The movie features Rourke, who plays The Projectionist, with Richard Chamberlain (The Towering Inferno), Adam Godley, Orson Chaplin (American Horror Story), and Eric Nelson (A Walk Among the Tombstones). Here is a synopsis for the film from Comingsoon:
A series of down-on-their-luck individuals enter the decrepit and spine-chilling Rialto theater, only to have their deepest and darkest fears brought to life on the silver screen by The Projectionist – a mysterious, ghostly figure who holds the nightmarish futures of all who attend his screenings. By the time our patrons realize the truth, escape is no longer an option. For once the ticket is torn, their fate is sealed at Nightmare Cinema.
And here is the trailer:

The HollyShorts Film Festival is held annually in August, but to keep the momentum going all year, the organizers have monthly screenings of outstanding short films. As it turns out, one of them, The Bighead, was a little too much for the audience to handle. Read on for the details.
The screening of Michael Ling's The Bighead at the November 6 event caused quite an uproar with at least 20 people walking out of the theater because of the film's violence and scenes that were deemed disgusting, vile, and (everyone's favorite buzz phrase) "torture porn."
Apparently it didn't stop there as the festival organizers have been getting many complaints and being questioned on why they would select such a controversial short film. Additionally, people are filing petitions and threatening to contact the MPAA. What the fuck? There hasn't been fallout over a movie like this since A Serbian Film surfaced.
