Desire to Kill (aka Enemy at the Dead End) is the debut feature from writer/directors Owen Cho and Sang-Hwa Kim. Sang-Hwa calls it “an attempt to bring focus to innermost human nature in a confined space by using genres of thriller and black comedy”. Desire to Kill has since been compared to the work of Hitchcock, so at the very least, it finds itself in decent company. After the death of his wife, Min-Ho (Chun Ho-jin) tries to kill himself over and over again. When another suicide attempt goes wrong he wakes to find himself paralysed from the neck down in a hospital bed. An unconscious man is brought into the room...

I love the concept for Enemy at the Dead End (originally titled Desire to Kill). Co-written and directed by newcomers Owen Cho and Sang-Hwa Kim, it's the story of two men sharing a hospital room. Both are suffering from post-traumatic stress, distorted memories and an (initially) unexplained need to kill each other. The film plots along as the two try to decipher the events that have led to their need to kill each other. From the looks of the trailer, they almost succeed too.
Enemy at the Dead End has been kicking around for a few years and I don't expect it'll look nearly as polished as some of the other action thrillers coming out of South Korea but it does look rather promising, complete with comedic breaks, and I can't wait to see how the two men go from barely moving to the final scenes of the trailer in...
