Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney brought their charms together in the 2023 rom-com blockbuster, Anyone But You. The project ended up becoming a hot topic thanks to their savvy marketing and the leads’ electrifying chemistry. It is considered a sleeper hit, breaking box-office records, which is uncommon in the genre.

While the latter made her debut in the rom-com genre, Powell is no stranger in the same as his rom-com debut happened with Netflix’s Set It Up, which has a much higher score compared to the theatrical project.

Hollywood is leaving milk and cookies out for Olivia Wilde this holiday season with news that she’s striking a deal with LuckyChap to direct Naughty, a comedy described as Bridesmaids in the North Pole. Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden wrote the script with Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara, producing through LuckyChap.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Naughty follows Mallory, whose only hope of securing custody of her son from her gaslighting trashbag ex is to find Santa Claus in the North Pole and convince him to testify in her divorce hearing.
In case you forgot, LuckyChap produced Barbie, which earned $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office. Combine Barbie‘s success level with Wilde’s in-demand status as a filmmaker, and you’ve got a recipe for making money fall in a blizzard-like fashion.
Wilde’s next film is the biographical sports drama Perfect, starring McKenna Grace and Thomasin McKenzie.

“It was one of the most gorgeous things I’ve ever seen in my life,” declares “Don’t Worry Darling” production designer Katie Byron about some of the scenes brought to life by the creative team behind the film led by director Olivia Wilde. For our recent webchat she adds that Wilde “is so hands on, she cares about every detail, she’s obsessive and collaborative and she’s one of the most amazing people to work with, because she does have vision, but she’s so interested in hearing other people’s ideas and creating the world together,” Byron says. “When she has something very specific in her mind like this, you bend over backwards to make it happen.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Harvey Weinstein’s Los Angeles trial made headlines earlier this week as it got underway, with the convicted rapist’s defense team completely dismissing the #MeToo movement in its opening statement.
But the women behind upcoming film “She Said” — which follows New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor (Zoe Kazan) and Megan Twohey (Carey Mulligan) as they investigate and eventually expose Weinstein’s decades of abuse, unleashing the #MeToo movement — are hoping the movie, which premieres on Nov. 18, reminds viewers “what really happened.”
“As reporters, we can never tell what the verdict will be. But part of why we’re so appreciative of this film is that it takes us back to the beginning,” Kantor told Variety on the red carpet at the Women in Film Honors on Thursday night, where “She Said” received the Crystal Award for Advocacy. “That’s why we wrote our book, because we felt that the story belonged to everybody,...

The twist ending in "Don't Worry Darling" remains one of the most talked-about aspects of an already much-discussed film. But, according to the original script - written by Carey and Shane Van Dyke and made public via 8FLiX - Alice and Jack's fate initially played out much differently from the version we saw onscreen. Following all of the drama surrounding the cast and crew of "Don't Worry Darling," critics mainly panned the film (despite a booming 19.4 million box office debut). For many viewers, the Van Dyke brothers' script, which was sold to New Line Cinema in 2019 and later revised by Katie Silberman per director Olivia Wilde's request, offers an expanded look at the original story. Read on to find out how the writers of "Don't Worry Darling" originally intended the story to end, and see which version you like better.

For reasons both related and unrelated to the contents of the movie itself, "Don't Worry Darling" has been dominating headlines in the film world. When the Olivia Wilde-directed psychological thriller arrived in American theaters in late September 2022 following a much-discussed festival bow, it was one of the most hotly-anticipated mainstream releases of the fall season. All that buzz has translated to plentiful financial gains during the film's first week of release, even in the wake of very mixed reviews. Love it or hate it, "Don't Worry Darling" appears to be making quite a splash.
You can, like me, be of the opinion that the work done by Wilde and screenwriter Katie Silberman is accomplished enough to deserve some presence in the public consciousness. But whether or not the flaws of "Don't Worry Darling" tip the film past the point of enjoyability for you, the movie clearly owes a lot...

The trailer for director Olivia Wilde’s new Utopian psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, set in a parallel 1950s American Dream, suggests a decadent tale of the battle of the sexes within synthetic domestic bliss. Scratch off the gloss and block out the blue skies, and something akin to sinister, cult-induced solitude lurks beneath, complete with a touch of The Matrix ideas thrown in. Like the characters living in the Victory Project, a new experimental community built in a desert, viewers are also invested from the start because we “believe in the mission” this film has set up to deliver from its promised hype – Wilde and lead actor Florence Pugh’s behind-the-scenes squabbles aside.
Pugh plays smart and fun-loving Alice, wife to Harry Styles’ engineer character Jack. The latter goes to work with all the other neighbourhood men like clockwork each morning, waved off by their doting wives, and driving...

Warning: This article will openly discuss many spoilers about the ending of Olivia Wilde's "Don't Worry Darling."
The original screenplay for "Don't Worry Darling" was written by Carey and Shane Van Dyke, who are grandsons of Dick Van Dyke. Their script was infamously on the 2019 Black List, an annual poll held among screenwriters who vote for the best scripts floating around Hollywood that have not yet been produced. Director Olivia Wilde and one of her "Booksmart" screenwriters Katie Silberman scooped up "Don't Worry Darling," re-wrote it, changed the focus, added several characters, and came out with the strange, psychological thriller currently playing in theaters. Incidentally, the upcoming film "The Menu" was also on the 2019 Black List.

After weeks of behind the scenes drama that dominated the discourse, director Olivia Wilde‘s psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling was released into theaters over the weekend, and the 1950s-set movie dominated the box office in the #1 spot. The film, starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles, pulled in 19.2 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend.
Internationally, Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling added another 10.8 million to its total, with the film’s worldwide box office total now currently sitting pretty at 30 million.
The reported production budget for Don’t Worry Darling was 35 million, so it’s still got a ways to go before it recoups marketing costs and starts seeing some profits. The general rule of thumb is that a movie has to make 3x its production budget before ultimately becoming profitable, so Warner Bros. no doubt hopes this one eventually reaches 100 million.

Reports of a “screaming match” between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh on the set of “Don’t Worry Darling” are “absurd gossip,” according to a Sunday statement signed by 40 crew members.
“As a crew, we’ve avoided addressing the absurd gossip surrounding the movie we’re so proud of, but feel the need to correct the anonymous ‘sources’ quoted in a recent article,” reads the statement obtained by TheWrap. “There was never a screaming match between our director and anyone, let alone a member of our cast.”
The statement follows a Friday report from Vulture in which an anonymous source recalled a “screaming match” between Wilde and Pugh. The report said then-studio head Toby Emmerich had to intervene and moderate a “long negotiation process” to ensure that Pugh would participate in the movie’s press promotion and “not jeopardize the potential box office.”

Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh did not have a “screaming match” on the set of Don’t Worry Darling, according to the film’s crew.
The psychological thriller, which was released on Friday (23 September), has been plagued with reports of behind-the-scenes drama, in particularly regarding an alleged feud between director Wilde and star Pugh.
A recent report by Vulture, citing an anonymous source who spent a significant amount of time on set, alleged that the pair even once got into a verbal altercation on set.
According to the source, news of the hostility got back to studio executives, with Warner Bros’s Toby Emmerich forced to step in as a referee of a “long negotiation process” to guarantee Pugh’s participation in the film “in any way”.

"Don't Worry Darling" may never outshine the rumors of behind-the-scenes drama that have plagued the film for months on social media, but star Florence Pugh is still celebrating the movie's release. On Friday, Sept. 23, the actor shared two posts full of photos from the set on Instagram. Her tributes to the film's cast and crew come after much speculation that the "Little Women" actor has avoided doing press for "Don't Worry Darling" due to an alleged dispute with the movie's director, Olivia Wilde.
Wilde has denied there was any tension between herself and Pugh, but Pugh has largely kept quiet about the rumors. However, her first carousel of photos does include a snap of her and Wilde dancing in the film. The rest of the post is dedicated to thanking the cast and crew for the hard work...

Warning: This post contains numerous spoilers about the ending of “Don’t Worry Darling.” Do not read unless you have seen the film.
“Don’t Worry Darling” had plenty of publicity before it was released, from director Olivia Wilde’s remarks about Shia Labeouf to the Harry Styles-Chris Pine “spitgate” incident and various other dramas. But through all the pre-opening drama, the film’s storyline stayed unknown.
After the trailer premiered, audiences could see the premise was a “Stepford Wives”-like society where women had traditional roles in a sunny utopian society. Once viewers saw the film, they saw this story expanded as Florence Pugh’s Alice character begins to realize that something isn’t right in the placid community of Victory. But as events progress, it becomes a little harder to tell what’s really going on, and the ending has left more than a few filmgoers scratching their heads.

Following up her 2019 directorial debut, Booksmart, with what ostensibly looks like a remake of The Stepford Wives (1975), would be a huge gamble, were Olivia Wilde not up to the challenge. The result is a moody and frighteningly poignant social commentary titled Don’t Worry Darling that somehow seems like it shouldn’t play as relevant as it unfortunately is.
As the film opens, perfect couple Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack (Harry Styles) are introduced living in an idyllic experimental company town housing the workers (men) of a top-secret entity called the Victory Project and their families. Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling is making headlines this afternoon for reasons other than actor drama, rumor, and, of course, what’s known as the “Spitgate” incident. Wilde’s anticipated thriller is now in theaters, with the film earning 3.1 million in Thursday Preview screenings. The total also counts for early screenings viewed on IMAX for select audiences. Analysts predict a 17 million opening weekend, though early ticket sales could result in a 20-24 million debut.

Human beings have a natural resistance to change. Every time anything in someone's life is thrown off course, from their daily routine to their preconceived notions about the world, people find themselves either adjusting or resisting. The numerous instances of anti-progressive thought that can be seen in society today (especially that coming from cisgendered white men) are proof positive of this continual phenomenon, and thus the arts — being the bastion of cultural commentary that they are — react accordingly.
Olivia Wilde's second feature as a director, "Don't Worry Darling," is the latest in an increasingly large wave of socially conscious horror and genre pictures. While some of the pitfalls of this trend can certainly be seen in the film, its themes of feminism and misogyny combined with its surprisingly compelling ambiguity makes it a more fascinating experience than its tabloid-style press tour would indicate.

Chicago – A sure hand behind the camera and a dynamic performance from Florence Pugh help “Don’t Worry Darling” pull off an extremely difficult balancing act. This isn’t a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it inspires the kind of impressions and ideas that you will still be talking about a week later.

Rossellini auditioned and screen-tested for the 1986 psychosexual drama about an intoxicatingly toxic relationship; ultimately, Kim Basinger was cast opposite Mickey Rourke. “Fatal Attraction,” “Indecent Proposal,” and “Deep Water” director Adrian Lyne helmed the feature.
“After seeing the film, in a way, I was happy I was not chosen,” Rossellini revealed to Vulture. “I thought that Adrian’s films were a little exploitative.”
She continued, “I thought it was not very deep. His films are a little exploitative. I was lucky not to be chosen. Sometimes God helps me. I may not help myself, but God does.”

Don’t Worry Darling is The Stepford Wives on acid with a shot of Busby Berkeley as a chaser. Whatever issues star Florence Pugh and director/co-star Olivia Wilde had off-screen, both absolutely nail it onscreen. Pugh pulls off a performance that legitimately earns the accolade of elevating material just by her presence.
Remember when women didn’t know better than to smoke like a chimney and drink like a fish while pregnant? Remember when women dressed to the nines just to stay home and dust? No? Neither do I. However, that’s the throwback world the characters inhabit when they’re introduced in Don’t Worry Darling.

Florence Pugh once again finds herself starring in a genre film where an idyllic community uses welcoming perfection as a veneer to hide more insidious secrets. Don’t Worry Darling sees Pugh as a doting ’50s housewife in a picturesque suburban community who quickly finds herself alone in realizing something’s deeply amiss. While the thriller boasts no shortage of visual style and pizzazz, it struggles to build tension or offer narrative surprises.
Don’t Worry Darling opens to a lively dinner party that introduces Alice (Pugh) and her husband Jack (Harry Styles), happy and content among close friends. Alice and Jack are childless by choice, a topic that occasionally surfaces among couples Bunny (director Olivia Wilde) and Bill (Nick Kroll) and the perpetually pregnant Peg (Kate Berlant) with husband Peter (Asif Ali). All live in the isolated town of Victory, part of the mysterious “Victory Project” headed by the elusive Frank...
