Exclusive: Apple TV+ is expanding its kids and families slate with Be@rbrick, a 13-episode animated kids series based on Medicom Toy’s popular collectible bear-shaped figures, from DreamWorks Animation and Dentsu Inc.
Told through CG animation, Be@rbrick is a music-driven comedy about young singer-songwriter Jasmine and her bandmates as they pursue their dreams and inspire others to do the same. But it won’t be easy to do when living in a world where everyone’s role is chosen for them and where the painted-on look you receive when you graduate from high school determines who you’ll be for the rest of your life. Jasmine realizes that in order for her world to change, she and her friends may have to make it happen themselves.
The series will be animated and produced by DreamWorks Animation and Dentsu Inc., and showrun and executive produced by Meghan McCarthy. Alex Almaguer (TrollsTopia) will serve as supervising producer and Taylor Orci (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts) will serve as story editor. Athena Hofmann (Curious George) will serve as line producer on the series.
“Be@rbrick marks the latest collaboration for Apple TV+ and DreamWorks Animation, joining GLAAD Media Award nominated Pinecone & Pony, based on Kate Beaton’s book The Princess and the Pony; and Doug Unplugs, based on Dan Yaccarino’s Doug Unplugged book series.
Apple TV+’s kids and families slate includes the Oscar and BAFTA-winning animated short film The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse; animated adventure film Luck from Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation which premiered this year; and, BAFTA Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated animated film Wolfwalkers.

This year’s TV staffing season wasn’t quite like any before.
Described as a “free for all” by “Batwoman” creator and showrunner Caroline Dries and “like the Wild Wild West” by “Legacies” creator and showrunner Julie Plec, the WGA-Ata debacle has had deep-seated effects on the way showrunners staff their writers’ rooms and search for fresh new voices.
The crux of the WGA-ata feud is over the WGA’s effort to bar agents who represent guild members from receiving packaging fees on TV series from production entities and to stop the expansion of the big three agencies’ parent companies into the production-distribution domain. Talks between the two organizations broke down on multiple occasions and don’t look like they will be starting up again any time soon, given that the WGA recently re-filed its suit against Wme, CAA, UTA and ICM in federal court.

When members of the Writers Guild of America began firing their agents as part of the guild’s ongoing dispute with Hollywood talent agents in April, one question lingered on the tips of many tongues in Hollywood: How will writers find work?
Twitter quickly emerged as a marketplace for writers in all stages of their careers to gain support, information, and even jobs. On April 10, three days before writers were asked to fire their agents, “Into the Badlands” and “The Walking Dead” writer Latoya Morgan started the Twitter hashtag #WGAStaffingBoost.
Scribes! If you're a writer looking to staff this season, I want to help you out. Reply with a few sentences about what kind of writer you are & why showrunners should give you a shot, and I'll give you a #WGAStaffingBoost.

Comedy Central is taking multiplatform incubation quite seriously.
The cable channel’s in-house Cc:Studios has renewed two returning series and greenlit five new ones in development, the company said on Thursday.
Additionally, the online division released “Roustabout” on Wednesday, a comedic travelogue that follows Kurt Braunohler as he jet skis from Chicago to New Orleans to raise money for charity.

The renewed series are “Six Guys One Car” (pictured above), from YouTube stars Dormtainment, and “New Timers,” following two low-key friends that remain unchanged and unphased by a post-apocalyptic Brooklyn.

Melbourne, Jun 28: If a person looks sad or angry for no apparent reason, then chances are that they may be suffering from a condition that has been termed as bitchy resting face (Brf).
A spoof video posted on YouTube, which explains the Brf has got over two million hits - and now even 30-year-old actress Anna Paquin has admitted on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' that she also suffers from the condition, News.com.au reported.
She said that the Brf means that a person looks like they want to kill people, or like they are a giant bitch before showing Kimmel what it looked like.
Devised by comedian Taylor Orci from 'Broken People,' the Brf spoof video has struck a chord with women - and men - all over the world.
