Marla Seidell grew up outside Chicago. She attended Hofstra University and was awarded two scholarships, including a Fulbright, to study European history at the University of Amsterdam. Following her study abroad, she returned to Chicago. As a freelance journalist, she reported on entertainment and political news for the New York Post and was a food critic for The Daily Herald.
A history and film buff, Marla reviewed theater and film, and it was therefore a natural transition for her to start auditioning for films. She then got into comedy and trained in advanced classes at ComedySportz and Annoyance Theatre. She has also trained with celebrity booking coach Amy Lyndon.
Marla won the DIFF Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the improvisational comedy Private Screening. She has performed in dozens of indie films that have won acclaim at film festivals worldwide.
