Horror movie monsters don’t get much goofier than the Sasquatch. Sure, Bigfoot is a legitimate part of American folk legend/mythology, but The Missing Link doesn’t exactly inspire fear or terror, no matter how good the ape suit is. Some brave directors have tried, mind – most notably Eduardo Sanchez, with his found footage feature Exists – but we’re a long way off from a definitive, and good Bigfoot feature.
Latest – of a very small queue – to step up to the bat is John Portanova, with his mostly serious Hunting Grounds (or Valley of the Sasquatch to go by its sillier but better title, by which is is known on UK DVD too). In it, we follow a grieving father and son duo (plus cannon-fodder brother-in-law...

John Portanova’s award-winning “Hunting Grounds” (formerly known as “Valley of the Sasquatch”) is some real worst-case scenario horror, as it centers on a father and son who must contend with an angry clan of Bigfoot. Not just one Bigfoot, and not even a particularly happy one, but a whole mess of pissed off Sasquatch.
The winner of Best Sci-Fi Horror Film at the 2015 Toronto Independent Film Festival is now set for release thanks to Uncokr’d Entertainment, finally allowing more Bigfoot-crazed cinephiles to see what happens when the furry monsters stop being polite and start getting real.

Circle
Written & Directed by Aaron Hann & Mario Miscione
USA, 2015
Society loves a good label. After all, labels allow us to judge people without the hassle of actually talking to them. But what if these superficial judgements were a matter of life and death? That’s the question posed by the fascinating new psychological thriller, Circle. Writer-directors Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione mix satire, horror, and science fiction into an irresistible social experiment that puts all of us under the microscope. Relentless and gripping, Circle is a battle royal for “civilized” society.
Fifty strangers awaken to find themselves standing inside a circle.
They cannot move.
They cannot touch each other.
And every two minutes, one of them will die.
These are the rules established by the fiendishly clever Circle. What is administering the seemingly random death beam from the center of the circle is not important. All that matters is that...

Votiv Films and Taggart Productions have unveiled several stills, for their feature Circle. Circle is a psychological horror feature, which focuses on a mysterious killing machine and several strangers. Starring Julie Benz (Saw V), Michael Nardelli (The Collection) and Autumn Federici (Haunting of the Innocent), this title was developed by Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione. As well, the early stills show many of the cast and characters, including: Coley Speaks, David Saucedo, Jamie Lee Redmond and Lawrence Kao. Each character is in peril, in this one-of-a-kind thriller. From the synopsis, several strangers, from different walks of life, find themselves in an austere room. They are trapped. Now, every two minutes, one of the strangers is executed for an unknown reason. The survivors can influence the executions. But, no one knows if any can survive this ordeal. Part mystery and part horror, Circle is now completed. This film will host a trailer soon.
