Glengarry Glen Ross, Clerks, A Few Good Men, The Big Short, Office Space and Waiting. What do these flicks have in common? No matter the genre they fall in they all have great writing, great dialogue and superb execution of both these factors from there core cast. While Admins may be a low budget independent movie it has all these key ingredients and deserves your attention.
Since movies like Clerks and Office Space hit our screens and gave us a real good look into work life culture, many movies have came and went since that tried to capture that magic but more often than not they fail because they lack the witty dialogue or lead cast delivery. With a title like that, what could possibly go wrong? The epic finale of a trilogy (no, really, there are three of them) which has seen the titular ninjas take on vampires and zombies now has the superhero team battling horror’s most classic villains – Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman and the Mummy. It speaks volumes for the monsters’ recent output that this ultra lowbudget film is the best some of them have been in years.
Going into Ninjas vs Monsters blind, there’s a surprising amount of history to catch up on. The gist of it: a gang of slacker friends are gifted ‘Ninja’ super powers while battling zombies and a resurrected loved one turned bad.

The fuzzy screen of hissing static noise – a benign magnetic videotape imprinted with the occasional time code becomes a source of evil in V/H/S 2, the outstanding follow-up to last year’s anthology that manages to outdo the original of terms of creativity and intensity. Like the first, it has no stars or big-scale special effects, but it’s an extraordinarily efficient horror film, a celebration of rock-bottom production values—and more proof of how it doesn’t take bells and whistles to scare us. Those who didn’t care for the first (a love-it-or-hate-it affair) may find this one more of the same, but it’s leaner than the original (four stories this time instead of five) with more humor and less nudity. Each segment is written/produced/directed by different filmmakers who take a fractured, mixed-media approach to their respective stories, all of which are strong.

Last year's horror anthology "VHS" took Sundance's midnight movie fans by surprise with its multiple spins on found footage scares -- some more inspired than others. A successful video on demand release followed in October and now, just a year later, the sequel "S-vhs" had its own Sundance premiere.
A shorter and more consistent thrill ride, the effectiveness of "S-vhs" still depends on a tolerance for found footage and especially turbulent camerawork.
Once again surrounded by a fairly weak framing device (this time a male and female private investigator team follow a lead to the house from the first movie, watch some freaky videotapes and realize they're in big trouble), the four shorts this time share a unifying structure: they start calmly enough and then build to frenzied -- and usually very bloody -- heights.

Despite the very best efforts of Royal Mail, I have finally received a copy of Left Films’ Ninjas vs. Vampires to review. Having already experienced the studio’s own Cowboys & Zombies, I rather short-sightedly thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong.
When his advances are thwarted by long-standing best friend Alex (Devon Marie Burt), Aaron (Jay Saunders) could be forgiven for believing that life had finally hit rock bottom; after years of treading carefully, he had apparently blown his chances with the girl of his dreams. Things go from bad to worse, however, when he and Alex are set upon by a pack of blood-thirsty vampires. Luckily, there are a battalion of ninjas on hand to save the bickering couple, using friendly witch Ann (Melissa McConnell) to transport them to safety. Aware that they have glimpsed only the tip of an iceberg, the ninjas induct Aaron so that...

Click on the poster for Timpane's follow up to Ninjas vs. Zombies (2008) and enjoy the trailer below.

Ninjas Vs. Vampires
Stars: Jay Saunders, Daniel Ross, Devon Marie Burt | Written and Directed by Justin Timpane
Ninjas vs. Vampires is a low budget film featuring both ninjas and vampires. If you read my Cowboys & Zombies review, it will save some mentions which I have to give for this particular film. Firstly, it’s low-budget, secondly, the special effects are bad (because of the budget) and the acting isn’t so great. So, the main thing to consider, is it an enjoyable film?
It is… in parts.
When two teens are attacked by vampires, and then subsequently saved by ninjas, they can’t believe this could be real. That is until they become embroiled in a fight between the two groups. The ninjas aren’t all that ninja-ish, but the vampires are fairly vampy.
The film seems to take its leave from Blade, there’s a half-ninja, half-vampire character who has the powers of both.

*full disclosure: a screener copy of this film was provided by Breaking Glass Pictures.
Director/writer: Justin Timpane.
Ninjas vs. Vampires is a film from Justin Timpane (Ninjas vs. Zombies), which has released on DVD as of May 3rd. This fantasy film is heavy on action, comedy, with influences of horror and the film breaks down much like a comic book. There is lots of action here, as Aaron (Jay Saunders) finds himself in the middle of a supernatural war. As well, there are elaborate costumes, which set the necessary dark tones. Evil acolytes promise to steal your life, while hidden behind masks and dressy robes. Finally, most comparable to graphic novels are the diverse set of characters, who either hide from sunlight, or stalk these mythical bloodsuckers.
Aaron and Alex (Devon Marie Burt) are out on a kinky camera shoot in an isolated parking lot, when they are set...

The ninjas of the "Ninjas vs." franchise take on a new member who's driven to rescue the girl of his dreams from a group of evil vamps.
Satisfying followup to Ninjas vs. Zombies has the right balance of "Blade" type action and horror. The right amount of Gen X type humor channeling films like "Reality Bites" and "Clerks". The right amount of posing and posturing to give it that cool factor. And just the right amount of edge and bite to give it some substance. Ninjas vs. Vampires is a briskly paced, entertaining film with one little fun vignette right after another. Part of the success of this entry is that the film has energy.

Think back to the comedies of the 1990's like Clueless, Reality Bites, Clerks, etc. They had edge. They had bite. They captured the spirit and the essence of the Gen X slacker mentality to the tee. This period of film has been looked upon by fans fondly. There have been films that have tried to capture the essence and the spirit of these films, but too often do these films come across as feeling forced and labored. Enter Washington D.C. based actor Daniel Ross of Ninjas vs. Vampires (starring: Jay Saunders, Cory Okouchi, Carla Okouchi, Devon Marie Burt, Melissa McConnell, P.J. Megaw, Elizabeth Taylor and Kurt Skarstedt and directed by Justine Timpane). This aspiring up and coming presence captures the mentality of the actors of that period and of those films through his performances with such ease and fluidity. Ninjas Vs. Vampires, his latest film, also serves as the perfect showcase for Daniel Ross,...

Who doesn't love the concept of this: Ninjas Versus Vampires? I went into this film with mediocre expectations and came away with a huge taste of ass-kicking ninja satisfaction!
The same guys who brought us Ninjas Versus Zombies (review here) have created something special this time around. Our favorite ninjas return this time to battle it out with vampires of all things. Justine Timpane returns as writer and director for this second helping and has far, far surpassed his zombie offering. He has absolutely kicked it up a notch (no pun intended) and succeeded on all levels.
The story and chemestry is strong and returns our favorite pizza/ninja guy Kyle (Daniel Ross) who once again adds just the right touch of one-liners when needed along with kick-ass ninja action of course. Joining Kyle are Cole (Cory Okouchi ), Lily (Carla Okouchi), and a few others who meet new ally Aaron...
