10 years ago this June, I (Andy Triefenbach) started Destroy the Brain as a solo horror film podcast back when there were only a handful of podcasts talking about the genre. For three-and-a-half years, 78 episodes were released in a format that was dubbed “Season 1”. “Season 2” started with co-host Michael Haffner which lasted 47 episodes for 11 months. New contributors started writing for Dtb and we picked up where “Season 2” left off, effectively starting “Season 3”. Since the show has evolved hosts and formats, we have collectively made the decision to retire the show known as “Destroy the Brain” or “The Destroy the Brain Podcast” and reboot it, since that’s the hot thing to do, as a newly named show. The podcast will now be known as We Need To Talk About Horror.
Myself, Jeremy Jones, Joseph Burge and Mike Hassler will be filling your ear holes with discussions about the horror genre. We will be talking about films,...

On this episode, we get together to talk about random stuff like The Conjuring 2, The Neon Demon, The Shallows, why Scream Factory’s The Return of the Living Dead Blu-Ray release is better than the Second Sight’s UK “purist” Blu-Ray, Friday the 13th: The Game and more!

When covering Fantastic Fest, I get the opportunity to check out a lot of genre cinema. Most films get a theatrical or VOD release about 6 months or later after viewing them. One film that I saw, which previously played at SXSW in March 2015, was The Invitation. Not a lot was said about the film except to keep in the dark and just know it was a paranoia piece and it all takes place at a dinner party. Since I think that is the optimal description of the film, that’s all I will give you. I walked away from the film feeling like I fell into a dark pit and got out at the last minute after seeing my exit slowly close and the oxygen escaping the imaginary pit I occupied. When I found out that it was playing in November at the St. Louis International Film Festival, I had hope that the director,...

We are honestly proud to bring the Golan-Globus epic, the flagship of Cannon Films, Death Wish 3 for its 30th anniversary. I’ve been wanting to show this film for some time now and lord knows people have demanded it (namely Jeremy Jones, who contributes to Dtb). If you haven’t seen any or the previous Death Wish films, you’ll be fine. They pretty much recap it in the beginning and let’s face it, there wasn’t really a heavy plot to Death Wish or Death Wish 2.
Death Wish 3
1985 / dir. Michael Winner / Digital
Charles Bronson brings out the heavy artillery in this gun-blazing, no-holds-barred thriller! Paul Kersey (Bronson) longs to leave his fighting days behind him. But when he arrives in New York to visit an old friend, he finds him gasping for breath in a pool of blood! Now the silent avenger must wage war...

Halloween is coming and we thought with all those kids that are out trick or treating, dressing up to be grown ups, that we would give these halfstacks their due, children can be creepy as well. The staff has got together and compiled thirteen films where children are to be feared.
The Children From The Children
Tom Shankland’s film shares themes in common with a couple other “youth gone mad” films of the past, but these kids are terrifying in their own way. A virus of some sort is turning the children into blodthirsty, malevolent creatures. They still look sweet, but they’re ready to kill, kill, kill. The scary imps in Cronenberg’s The Brood are spooky, but nothing freaks me out more than a normal looking child becoming violent. Kids toys become tools of murder here, and a parent’s worst nightmare is born. This well directed...

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher just showed up at the end of last week’s episode of ABC Family’s drama Jane By Design as Jane’s until-now-mia mother, Kate Quimby. What else does the frothy fashion show have up its well-hemmed sleeves? EW recently pressed star Erica Dasher — she plays the show’s title character, an underage assistant to Andie MacDowell’s demanding fashionista Gray Chandler Murray — about what we have to look forward to in the season’s final five episodes, which begin tonight with “The Second Chance,” at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
1. More Teri Hatcher drama is coming.

ABC Family has another hit on its hands, though it may be diving further and further toward ABC Family (Women), and Jane by Design has opted for the ultra-quick DVD release. Hitting just two weeks after the season finale, the DVD doesn’t offer bonus features, but gives you the chance to jump into the show, in case you didn’t get on board until after everyone was talking about it.
The show, though certainly mainly geared toward a certain age demographic, delivers solid writing, and layered characters. Like many of the shows currently airing on ABC Family, Jane by Design rises above the expectations it likely creates on paper.
16 year-old Jane thinks she’s applying to be an unpaid intern for a fashion powerhouse, but is mistakenly interviewed to be an executive assistant to one of the biggest names in the game, and at an impressive salary to boot.

It's been a memorable first season for Jane Quimby -- full of high drama, high school and high heels. Jane By Design is a light-hearted drama about Jane (Erica Dasher), a teenager who lands a job at Donovan Decker, a hip fashion house, when they mistake her for an adult. Jane soon finds herself juggling life both as a regular high school student and as an assistant to a high powered executive in the cutthroat world of fashion... all while trying to keep her true identity a secret.
Jane By Design also features Nick Roux (Lemonade Mouth) as Billy Nutter, Rowly Dennis (Desperate Housewives) as Jeremy Jones, India de Beaufort (One Tree Hill) as India Jourdain, Meagan Tandy (10 Things I Hate About You) as Lulu Pope, Matthew Atkinson (CSI) as Nick Fadden. Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) also stars as Gray Chandler Murray -- Jane's...

Every once in a while a television series comes along and whisks you off your feet. Jane By Design is that show. Debuting last week, the show’s premiere episode was charming, adorable and made you wish you were in Jane’s shoes as she landed an executive assistant position at a top ranked fashion design company. It is any 16-year old girl’s dream come true: to get their dream job and a chance at their dream guy too. But in Jane Quimby’s (Erica Dasher) world, you’d have to figure out who exactly is your dream guy as Jane has three potential dream men in her life.
The story of a young teen who applies for a coveted fashion design internship and somehow lands an even more desirable job as executive assistant to Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell) at Donovan Decker, an elite fashion design company, is...

Tonight on Jane By Design: The Runway
The easy part of Jane By Design's heroine Jane Quimby's journey from high school weirdo to fashion industry mover and shaker is now over. She managed to get the job with Donovan Decker, convince her brother to let her keep it, and perform well on her first tasks from Grey. Now is when Jane's mettle will be tested, with work picking up, school always around, and more boys than she knows what to do with. Can someone like Jane Quimby truly have it all?
If the previews for tonight's episode are any indication, she's darn sure going to try, as each one highlights a specific part of Jane's increasingly hectic life. In the pilot, she met Jeremy Jones, a hunky British designer working at Dd that takes a liking to Jane immediately. She may not have returned the gesture, mostly due to his poor reputation,...

ABC Family Scene from “Jane By Design.”
Jane Quimby is a dateless high school zero who wants to be in fashion. Her dad is dead and her mom is Mia. Her older brother dropped out of college to help and is looking for a job. The bank is threatening to take the house. Sounds like a comedy! Let’s call it “Jane By Design.”
Jane (Erica Dasher) walks into high school wearing Michael Jackson’s red epaulet jacket, which is never a good move.

Jane By Design: Season 1 Trailer Released
We've all been where Jane By Design's Jane Quimby is at right now. You know, barely making it through a normal day of high school without tearing your hair out, saved only by a few good friends and a promise of better things to come in the future. While the rest of us had to wait until after we graduated to finally become ourselves, it looks like Jane is getting a (very) early start.
In Jane By Design, the title character gets mistakenly hired as an executive assistant at Donovan Decker, a local fashion house that thinks she's an adult. Instead of chucking the $30,000/year starting salary (and access to a innumerable cute clothes), she has to learn how to balance life as a high school student, working woman, and regular girl without anyone finding out otherwise. The only one to know...
