Chiara Gelardin has rejoined UK independent studio Rocket Science, as managing director.
Gelardin, who worked at Rocket Science from 2016 to 2021 as director of sales, will now be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the company, working with COO Levi Woodward to lead the team, spearhead business development and drive the company’s vision.
Prior to joining Rocket Science in 2016, Gelardin was director of sales at HanWay Films. She has worked in business affairs at Recorded Picture Company and Momentum Pictures; is a qualified barrister; and a systemic coach working with individuals and organisations.

UK sales firm Rocket Science has bolstered its team with the return of Chiara Gelardin, who has been appointed Managing Director.

Joining this month and based in London, Ferrandez takes on a senior sales role (the company largely eschews formal titles) and will work alongside Chiara Gelardin and Claire Taylor.

Blue chip UK sales outfit HanWay Films has appointed a new head of sales and head of distribution and marketing amid a company shake-up.
In a new role sitting atop of the company’s sales division, former Fortissimo executive Nicole Mackey has been appointed head of sales.
Mackey will oversee the company’s revered theatrical sales business, and will work hand in hand with boutique label HanWay Select.
Anna Chettle has been promoted to senior sales manager.
In a new role, former Warner Bros. UK executive Tom Grievson has been hired as head of distribution and marketing. In the same department, Simone Talfourd has been promoted to senior marketing manager.

Haut Et Court has acquired French rights to Yorgos Lanthimos’ [pictured] next film The Killing Of A Sacred Deer.
Colin Farrell – who starred in Lanthimos’ last film The Lobster – will star as a charismatic surgeon in a story inspired by the Euripides tragedy.
Lanthimos wrote the script with his writing partner Efthymis Filipou, the film is being produced by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures (Room, The Lobster).
Film4 and New Sparta Films are among the project’s backers.

Exclusive: Soda Pictures nabs UK rights to Cannes competition entry.
Soda Pictures has nabbed UK and Irish rights to Jim Jarmusch’s vampire drama Only Lovers Left Alive from HanWay Films.
Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt, Anton Yelchin and Jeffrey Wright star in the Cannes competition entry.
“It’s a very exciting acquisition for us, to work with such great talent and such a fun, beautiful and timeless, yet timely and almost omniscient, film,” said Soda managing director Eve Gabereau.
The deal was negotiated between Gabereau and HanWay Films’ Chiara Gelardin alongside producer and Recorded Picture Company head Jeremy Thomas.
Set in Detroit and Tangiers, the film follows the love affair between an underground musician (Hiddleston) and his enigmatic lover (Swinton), which becomes interrupted by her wild younger sister (Wasikowska).
