“Genres are a funny little concept, aren’t they?” says Linda Martell, a country music pioneer, in the intro to Beyoncé’s “Spaghettii.” “In theory, they have a simple definition that’s easy to understand, but in practice, well, some may feel confined.” Those two sentences perfectly sum up how Beyoncé has subverted expectations in recent years by spreading her wings beyond pop, hip-hop, and R&b to infuse rock, house, and now country music into her own unique style that ultimately really is just “Beyoncé.”

When you’re hot you’re hot. That could be the case for professional dancer Lindsay Arnold on “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes.” She’s coming off her first ever Mirror Ball Trophy win in season 25 with Jordan Fisher, and this season she’s competing with seven-foot basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Can she win back-to-back seasons? Only three other pros have accomplished that feat.
The first to achieve consecutive Mirror Ball victories was Cheryl Burke, who won the first two seasons she ever competed in: season 2 with singer Drew Lachey and season 3 with football player Emmitt Smith. She hasn’t won since, but in her 18 subsequent seasons on the show she made the finals five more times, finishing second with Gilles Marini (season 8) and Rob Kardashian (season 13), and placing third with Christian de la Fuente (season 6), William Levy (season 14) and Jack Osbourne (season 17).

Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. The Dancing With the Stars pair took home the top prize in season 25 and they have a place already in mind for their Mirrorball trophies. "Thanksgiving table!" Lindsay told E! News after being crowned victor of DWTS season 25. Jordan agreed with the placement idea. This is Lindsay's first time taking home the Mirrorball. She came in second last season with David Ross and placed third in season 23 with Calvin Johnson Jr. and in season 21 with Alek Skarlatos. "Standing there, waiting to hear who wins—I've been there before and I've not won, so going into tonight, I don't want to say I went in...

Season 1: Kelly Monaco & Alec Mazo
Photo: ABC
There's nothing sweeter than holding the title of ABC's first-ever DWTS champion! Since winning the mirrorball, Monaco continued to portray the role of Samantha McCall on the network's daytime drama, General Hospital. Monaco made her most recent return to the show during season 25, pairing up with her close pal, Cheryl Burke, and former NFL star Terrell Owens for Trio Night.
Season 2: Drew Lachey & Cheryl Burke

The 98 Degrees singer had so much fun learning how to dance on the show, that he joined the pros and troupe dancers on their DWTS tour after winning the title. At the time, he had no idea that his brother, Nick Lachey, would later compete on season 25 of the show with Peta Murgatroyd. Unfortunately for Nick, he didn't have as much luck -- he and Peta were the fifth couple to be eliminated from the competition.

People staff writer (and resident Dancing with the Stars season 23 expert) Patrick Gomez predicts who will take home the Mirrorball Trophy Tuesday night:
When the cast for season 23 was announced in August, it was pretty clear who the front-runner was: Laurie Hernandez.
The effervescent Olympian had everything a winner needs. Natural athletic ability? Check. Insane work ethic? Check. Winning personality? Double check.
And when Hernandez first took to the ballroom for a cha-cha with her pro partner Valentin Chermkovskiy, she did not disappoint.
“You are awesome. That was so wonderful. You lit up this room,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba. “You just have this incredible sparkle.

*Caution: Spoilers ahead!*
Night one of Dancing With the Stars’ two-night finale aired Monday, and with only four amazing stars remaining, it was going to be sad to see anyone get eliminated.
After a night of lukewarm "redemption" dances -- where stars got a chance to re-do a dance style that they'd previously performed -- and four amazing freestyle performances, there was no clear choice for elimination between Laurie Hernandez, Calvin Johnson Jr., James Hinchcliffe and Jana Kramer.
After it was announced that Hernandez and Johnson were safe and would be moving on to the final round of finals, it all came down to Kramer and Hinchcliffe, who'd both delivered a slew of perfectly-scored dances throughout the season.
However, when it came right down to it, Kramer couldn't compete with Hinchcliffe's amazing comeback story and the 32-year-old singer was sent packing, along with her pro-partner, Gleb Savchenko.

It’s that time of year, Dancing With the Stars fans.
Gone are the days of anti-Ryan Lochte audience members rushing the stage, or Marilu Henner tearfully telling partner Derek Hough that he makes her nervous, or Babyface stumbling his way through a painful tango.
Instead, as Dancing prepares to wrap its 23rd season, the ABC competition series is once again nothing but emotional performances, perfect scores and contestants thanking their partners for “going on this journey with me.”

Jana Kramer is just days away from potentially taking home a mirror ball trophy on Dancing With the Stars -- but that dream may get sidelined.
The 32-year-old country singer is one of four contestants who will compete in the two-night finals, airing Monday and Tuesday night on ABC. As if the pressure wasn't already intense, her pro partner, Gleb Savchenko, has come down with the flu.

This is not the week for Gleb Savchenko to get sick.
“He has the flu and has to rest up this weekend so he can hopefully dance on Monday,” a source tells People of the Dancing with the Stars pro.
Savchenko and his season 23 partner Jana Kramer are just two nights away from possibly winning the Mirrorball Trophy but the pro is having to reschedule rehearsals this weekend so he can rest, says the source.
Kramer and Savchenko are slated to face-off against Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy, Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold and James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess for two dances on Monday night.

When Dancing with the Stars reaches something as late in the season as the semifinals, it is expected that all of the remaining couples will score 9's or 10's. Unfortunately for Calvin Johnson in season 23, that did not happen. Calvin's tango with partner Lindsay Arnold earned him two 9's from Bruno and Julianne but he also received a disappointing 8 from Carrie Ann. It's a score that to sent him to the bottom of leaderboard, way below eliminated dancer Terra Jole. While Calvin's tango was disappointing, and the biggest surprise is it only earned one 8, this doesn't mean he is completely out of the competition.
