- Derrin Ebert was born on August 21, 1976 in Anaheim, California, USA. He is an actor, known for Moneyball (2011).
- Derrin was briefly a Major League relief pitcher in 1999 for the Atlanta Braves. He seriously studied and tried to mimic the pitching mechanics of his real-life character in Moneyball (2011), Mike Magnante, who wore knee braces when he pitched for the Oakland A's. Originally, Ebert got an audition for the movie through a friend he coaches Little League with who knew someone at the casting agency. He now says he feels optimistic about a future in other film roles, since Brad Pitt told him he has a real knack for acting.
- 'You should get into acting,' Brad [Pitt] told me. 'You've got a knack for it.' So, yeah, I'd absolutely do it again. I've been trying to share this experience with the kids I coach. I tell them, 'If you prepare and put yourself in the right situation, you can be successful'.
- I was more nervous just thinking about reading lines compared to pitching my first big league inning. Once I got on set, Brad [Pitt] was very welcoming and made everyone feel relaxed... [he] would sit and shoot the breeze like he was one of the guys in the clubhouse.
