Well, this one's a true shocker.
Max has made the shocking decision to cancel Warrior.
The decision comes months after Warrior Season 3 wrapped on the streaming service.
Max rarely releases viewership statistics like many other streaming services, so it's difficult to assess how well the show performed.
The only good news to come from the cancellation is that Netflix has picked up the rights to past episodes of the series.
Deadline first reported the news, revealing that the show is set to hit Netflix in February 2024.
If the show proves to be a success with the service's subscribers, it could lead to additional seasons being produced.
Netflix has picked up many canceled shows in the past, including Cobra Kai, Longmire, and Manifest, so the company could be seen as a decent destination to get fresh episodes.
If the series does secure a reprieve at Netflix, it would mark its third U.

Paramount+’s latest UK slate is headlined by a dark drama from The Bridge and Marcella creator Hans Rosenfeldt, with new unscripted shows including a reality series about LA hairdressers and true crime doc about a notorious hoax caller.
Leading a six-strong order is Rosenfeldt’s drama The Burning Girls, a six-part series based on the Cj Tudor novel about a village haunted by a dark past.
Deadline first revealed news Rosenfeldt and Buccaneer had landed rights to the project in March last year, at which point Paramount+ was not involved.
Buccaneer Media is producing in association with Vis – Paramount’s international production arm – and Scandi noir supremo Rosenfeldt is leading a writing team that includes fellow The Bridge writing alum Camilla Ahlgren. Cast has yet to be set.
Also on the Paramount+ drama slate is The Ex-Wife, a four-part drama based on the psychological thriller of the same name about a married woman,...

“Quantico” star Tracy Ifeachor, “Star Trek: Discovery’s” James Frain (left) and “Rocks” actor Sharon D. Clarke are set to star in BBC drama “Showtrial” from “Bodyguard” producer World Productions.
The five-part series, which will air on flagship channel BBC One, is now in production. Ben Richards (“The Tunnel”) writes, while Zara Hayes (“Poms”) directs.
Ifeachor, Frain and Clarke have been cast alongside Sinéad Keenan (“Little Boy Blue”), Celine Buckens (“Bridgerton”), Kerr Logan (“Strike”) and Lolita Chakrabarti (“Vigil”).
Filmed and set around Bristol, “Showtrial” explores how prejudice, politics and the media distort the legal process. The show centers on Talitha Campbell, the estranged daughter of a wealthy property developer, who is charged with conspiring to murder fellow university student Hannah Ellis.
The trial that follows places victim and accused — and their families — in the eye of a media storm. Into that storm enters Cleo Roberts, the duty solicitor on the night of Talitha’s arrest.

Although the Bruce Lee-inspired Cinemax series Warrior is fiction, it is loosely based on historical events of San Francisco in the 1870s. Just as Nellie Davenport (Miranda Raison) is based upon on a remarkable San Franciscan heroine, Donaldina Cameron, the Season 2 Finale drops a bomb for one of the show’s central characters. At the end of the episode when Dylan Leary (Dean Jagger) declares “I’m Dylan Leary and I’m here on behalf of the Workingmen’s Party of California,” it’s a major tell. The Workingmen’s Party of California was an actual organization during the period when Warrior is set. This means that Leary is based upon Denis Kearney, the real-life labor union activist and anti-Chinese agitator who founded the Workingmen’s Party.
Warrior’s head writer Jonathan Tropper admits that Leary is based loosely upon Kearney. However, he has...

Warrior Season 2 Episode 10
After the brutal depiction of San Francisco’s Riot of 1877 in the previous episode, the Warrior Season 2 finale feels more like an epilogue. There’s lots of ruminating over drinks, a few cliffhangers to tease Season 3, and one long awaited fight. Since Cinemax abandoned its original programming, this may be the final episode of Warrior unless some other network picks it up. Hopefully, Warrior finds new life somewhere else because Season 2 leaves us hanging and wanting more.
This episode begins with the morning after the Riot. As Chinatown residents recover bodies and tend to their wounded, Mai Ling (Dianne Doan) surveys the damage and discovers that a two-story mural of Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) has appeared. Clad in a wife-beater shirt with a nunchuck tucked in his armpit, it’s a nod to Bruce Lee’s look in The Way of the Dragon.

Warrior Season 2 Episode 9
Enter the Dragon was Bruce Lee’s most significant film and is regarded as one of the greatest martial arts films of all time. It was the first major Hollywood and Hong Kong co-production, and it also became one of the most profitable films of all time. Tragically, Lee didn’t live to see its success. He died a month prior to the premiere of Enter the Dragon. For Warrior to evoke Lee’s masterpiece, this episode better be good.
The significance of the title isn’t lost on Warrior’s head writer Jonathan Tropper. “My favorite movie to watch is probably Enter the Dragon,” claims Tropper, “just because I feel that is when production values caught up with what [Lee] was doing. Warrior Season 2 Episode 8 Review
This episode’s cold open has Hong (Chen Tang) telling a story to Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji) and Young Jun (Jason Tobin) as they are eating. It’s a tale of a killer who uses violin strings as a weapon to explain why Hong uses his signature whip chain. Ah Sahm and Young Jun tease him by constantly interrupting his story and as the camera pulls back, we discover that they are casually eating over a pile of dead Fung Hai men. With their leader Zing (Dustin Nguyen) in jail, the Fung Hai were easy pickings for the Hop Wei.
Ordinarily, skipping to after the fight scene without showing any action would be disappointing for a martial arts-based show like Warrior, but it’s such an artfully crafted interaction between the Hop Wei threesome that the absence Kung Fu is forgivable this one time.

This episode picks up right where the last one left off – Young Jun (Jason Tobin), Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), and Hong (Chen Tang) return from their successful mission to face Father Jun’s (Perry Young) wrath.
The Jun father-son relationship has been trying since the beginning, and it comes to a head when Father Jun blackballs his son from the Hop Wei with a ritual to ‘burn’ him out. Hop Wei members show their loyalty with branded forearms, so Father Jun burns out Young Jun’s brand with what appears to be the flat side of red-hot sword tip.
It’s a brutal ritual and bothersome to anyone who knows swords. No one ever does this. Swords are heat treated so getting one red hot like that would spoil the temper of the blade. In Warrior’s defense, all we get is...

Warrior Season 2 Episode 1
Now that the Warrior world is established, the season 2 premiere concerns itself with more character development and the interweaving of story arcs. The action, however, is even more promising as the season premiere opens with (what else?) a fight scene.
When we rejoin Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), he’s getting beaten and bloodied again, locked in combat in a new no-holds-barred arena, the Barbary Coast Fight Pit, and flashing back to his brutal defeat by at the hands of Li Yong (Joe Taslim) last season. It’s a decent fight scene that shows off Koji’s intensity. His manager (and new cast addition), Rosalita Vega (Maria-Elena Laas) senses that he’s working out some issues since Ah Sahm is back with the Hop Wei and doesn’t need to earn money in the pit. He’s got something to prove and it...

"You've had quite a past, Roy?" Warner Bros has debuted a new 60-second trailer for The Good Liar, the latest from director Bill Condon. This is the fascinating con thriller starring Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen in their first real movie together. And boy does this look dang good - one hell of an exciting trailer. Described as "a story about the secrets we keep and the lies we live", The Good Liar is about career con artist Roy Courtnay who falls for the "well-to-do widow Betty McLeish" after meeting her online. The full cast also includes Russell Tovey, Mark Lewis Jones, Jim Carter, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Celine Buckens. I've got a strong feeling this is one to keep an eye on. And holy crap this a perfectly edited taut trailer! Everything lines up just right. Here's the latest 60-second trailer for Bill Condon's The Good Liar, direct ...

"Seems like you've had quite a past..." Warner Bros has unveiled the first official trailer for a movie titled The Good Liar, the latest directed by Bill Condon. Oscar winner Helen Mirren and two-time Oscar nominee Ian McKellen star in their first movie together. Described as "a story about the secrets we keep and the lies we live", The Good Liar is about a career con artist Roy Courtnay who starts to fall for the "well-to-do widow Betty McLeish" after meeting her online. It seems like there's plenty of twists and turns in this, and mysterious secrets. The full cast includes Russell Tovey, Mark Lewis Jones, Jim Carter, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Celine Buckens. This looks darn good, I like McKellen's mustache and the mysteriousness. Curious? Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Bill Condon's The Good Liar, direct from WB's YouTube: Career con artist Roy Courtnay can...

With that in mind, we have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Going forward, we don’t believe network television is the right fit. Cinemax has quickly ordered a second season of its period piece action drama, Warrior, which is based on the writings of Bruce Lee.
Warrior Season 2 is officially set at Cinemax!
It didn’t take long for the premium cable outlet to renew the action-packed crime series, which premiered on April 5. Indeed, Warrior, the creation of Jonathan Tropper, who co-created the channel’s 2013-2016 crime drama, Banshee, came to the table with proper familial blessing to brandish the name of Bruce Lee, whose handwritten story notes – provided by daughter Shannon – served as the show’s basis. The result has been a genre-blending series that combines classic chopsocky action with a dramatically poignant peak television flair.
As Len Amato, president, HBO Films, Miniseries and Cinemax Programming, lauds in a statement:
“Bruce Lee’s vision is alive and well. Warrior combines high-energy martial arts with wit and brains. We’re...
