*Today, two new behind-the-scenes featurettes are available for Season of the Witch starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. This clips are inside and here, Ed Sum comments on this upcoming film. Is Nicolas Cage still a relevant action hero? Read Sum's discussion and then decide for yourself:
The New Year will kick-start with the Season of the Witch, a film starring Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, National Treasure) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy). In this supernatural action adventure film, Cage and Perlman plays a Crusader and side-kick duo who return home only to find their world besieged by the Black Plague.
The Church believes that a witch is responsible and they command the two heroes to escort her to a remote monastery to perform an ancient rite and to cure the land of this blight. While this film certainly looks like a variation of Stephen Sommer’s, Van Helsing, the question many...

Season of the Witch
Directed by: Peter Goddard, Dominic Sena
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Christopher Lee
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: January 7, 2011
Trailer Score: 2/10
My Thoughts: Oh my, I’d wonder why Nicolas Cage made this movie if I didn’t know about his financial troubles. Maybe I’m being overly cynical, maybe it’s not a paycheck movie. But I’m sure it takes a lot of money to run a private island. So back to the movie, Cage sports his same crazy hair cut (which apparently was popular in the Middle Ages as well) in a film starring him and his follicles carting an accused witch across the middle world for a king. Though I call her an accused witch, the trailer makes it look like she’s the real deal, so I guess you could classify it as fantasy. The witch is played by Claire Foy, who...

The Season of the Witch has a new trailer, which shows Nicolas Cage as Behman returning home from the Crusades. Here, he finds his old world riddled by the bubonic plague. But is the source of the plague biological or supernatural? This extra long clip shows several CGI enhanced shots and the film has had a struggle making its way to theatres.
This film was originally scheduled to release earlier this year (March), until re-shoots were ordered in September (Uhm). An earlier trailer (seen here) showed none of the footage from the Holy Land, which is now shown in this clip. So, the re-shoots likely involved these extra shots of the desert, fighting etc. Have a look below.

It looks like Nicolas Cage is still following his stylist’s advice and washing his hair every other day (see also: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) for his upcoming medieval flick Season of the Witch. (And now I have Donovan’s “Season of the Witch” stuck in my head. You’re welcome.) Peter Goddard and Dominic Sena’s belabored project — an early trailer hit the web about a year ago — will get a Jan. 7 release date, which could either mean it’s a must-see for the new year, or something that might aggravate your lingering hangover even more. Cage plays a...

Here’s a new trailer for Nicolas Cage’s supernatural actioner “Season of the Witch”, which after a long delay (it was originally scheduled for March of 2010), is now prepared to fight evil January 7, 2011. The film was directed by Dominic Sena, though according to IMDb.com, there is now a co-director listed named Peter Goddard, which is odd. Maybe there was a reason Lionsgate kept pushing the film back. Also, the fact that it’s being dumped into theaters in January should set off all kinds of warning bells. Ol Nic certainly looks utterly bored in the trailer, that’s for sure. In the supernatural thriller Season of the Witch, Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an...
