The reviews are in for the James Gunn-produced horror flick “Brightburn,” and while some critics enjoyed the film as a dark alternative to the Superman origin story, others pointed to its “shockingly predictable” story.
“What if Superman started out evil? And what if that was the only idea you had for your movie? Hence ‘Brightburn,’ a wafer-thin exercise in a supposedly new genre called ‘superhero horror,’ but what is really just a body-count flick haphazardly grafted onto a tweaked version of Superman’s origin story — except this version’s isolated farm boy with indestructible (and destructive) alien powers would rather lift a car not to rescue someone but to kill a grown-up who wasn’t nice to him,” TheWrap critic Robert Abele wrote in his review.

The big-screen origin story of Dceu's magical superhero has had its first screenings – and the initial reactions are in.
"Funny." "Goofy." "Unlike anything DC has done before." Yep, the Twitter reactions are steadily flowing in from early screenings of superhero blockbuster Shazam! and, fair to say, they're pretty positive...
So, the film has screened. And no, we're not allowed to review it yet. Pesky embargoes. But Warner Bros are clearly quietly confident they have a hit on their hands, allowing viewers to tweet their reactions almost a month ahead of the film's release date (it hits theaters on April 5).
That might also have a little something to do with the fact that, in the comics, Shazam shared a name with a certain other superhero from a rival outfit who just happens to have a film out today. Some excellent trolling there, DC!
Shazam! is the seventh instalment in the DC Extended Universe,...

With Wonder Woman 1984 having been delayed a whopping seven months, 2019 looks to be the year of Shazam!, at least as far as Dceu movies go. And from everything we’ve seen of the David F. Sandberg film so far, it really does look like this is going to be unlike any DC effort before it.
For starters, it’s headlined by Billy Batson, a young boy who becomes the unlikely successor to Shazam, an ancient wizard who’s harnessed the god-like abilities of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. That premise will clearly bring a bit of levity and lightheartedness to the pic and also help set it apart from the franchise’s other outings, like Justice League and Batman V Superman.
Another thing that might help set it apart though is that apparently, it’s fantastic. The first reactions have now surfaced over on Twitter and it...

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home finally came our way this week and naturally, fans have already scrawled through it to find out everything they can about the upcoming second solo movie for Tom Holland’s wallcrawler.
The trailer itself gave us a good look at the Elementals, giant creatures rampaging through Europe that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio will seemingly battle, leaving Spidey out of a job. Something Spider-Man lovers immediately noticed about the Elementals though is that they resemble a trio of Peter Parker’s most perennial foes from the comics. Namely, Sandman, Hydro-Man and Molten Man. It looks like fans’ instincts were right on the money as, on closer inspection, the trailer features easily-missed references to all three villains.
Twitter user Silas Lesnick – with some help from CinemaBlend’s Eric Eisenberg – gets the credit for spotting these. In each scene that one of the Elementals attacks,...

You won’t see “Aquaman” reviews for some time, but the social-media levy has broken and the first wave of reactions has crashed online. Perhaps surprisingly, they’re almost all highly positive — James Wan’s entry in the Dceu has been called “an absolute blast,” “breathtakingly beautiful,” and “an undersea Star Wars” by those who’ve seen the superhero movie starring Jason Momoa.
Here are the first impressions:
Against all odds, I really dug #Aquaman, which offers thrills chills and a whole lotta adventure for the whole family! Also the president of the United States is a demonstrably evil racist and there appears to be nothing we can do about that! See it on the biggest screen possible

Naturally, most of what we’ve heard regarding Ant-Man and the Wasp has been just that, hearsay. Thankfully, then, Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige provided some clarity on the Peyton Reed-directed flick yesterday.
The producing vet of twenty years revealed that not only will the twentieth entry into the highest grossing franchise of all-time connect Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) “directly to Avengers 4,” but the titular characters will also be “very important” to the McU “going forward.”
Well then, what could be better than insight straight from the horse’s mouth? Initial reactions to Ant-Man and the Wasp, of course. You heard right, feedback on the diminutive hero’s second feature has made its way onto the Twittersphere, and it’s overwhelmingly positive!
Now, typically, an advance screening like this would call for caution, as more than likely, it’d be fans, not critics reacting.

The reviews are in for “Incredibles 2” and some critics say it is the best superhero movie to date.
“Prior to this latest effort, Brad Bird made what can unequivocally be called two of Pixar’s best movies,” said CinemaBlend’s Eric Eisenberg. “Now that statement can be updated to say that he’s made three of Pixar’s best.”
The Epoch Times’ Mark Jackson wrote, “‘Incredibles 2 is not only one of Pixar’s best movies ever, but also arguably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.”

The first batch of media have seen Marvel's Black Panther, and they absolutely love it. Almost universally, all critics are praising Black Panther for its refreshing spin on the hero genre, the performance of Michael B. Jordan, and lots of other stuff. Take a look at some of the reactions from notable folks around the web:
Ryan Coogler knocked it out of the park, some great sequences presented in a “single take/shot.” If this movie isn’t nominated for costume, art and production design awards next year, I would be seriously shocked. #blackpanther

#marvel does it again with 'Black Panther'. Very impressed with the story and filmmaking. @michaelb4jordan absolutely kills it as the villain and is the best one since Loki. Also @DanaiGurira kicks so much ass and I loved every second of it. Going to make serious $. pic.twitter.com...
