- Tommy Martin was raised in central Indiana gaining a cumulative experience as a boy scout, multi-sport athlete, musician, and actor. He earned his music business degree from Indiana State University while performing as a percussionist and drummer in various ensembles (Steel Band, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band), and a variety of rock and singer-songwriter bands.
Some notable film roles include a goofy outsider in the slasher feature Haunt Season, a foul-mouthed hillbilly in the dramedy (Billi & Theodore (2012)), the lovable henchman opposite Craig Benzine in The Platoon of Power Squadron (2009), an emotional leader in the dystopian feature New World OrdeRx (2013), the optimistic stoner musician in the comedic workplace series The Club (2012), & an anxious rookie medevac in An Uncommon Grace (2017) opposite Jes Macallan.
Tommy is a strong improviser and impressionist, having trained at Second City Chicago. He studied comedy writing and filmmaking, creating short-form video sketches with his classmates, inspired by the 7 Day Shorts program. He taught himself how to film and edit, before working on shorts and features as cast and crew. His filmmaking credits include writer, producer, director, assistant director, and editor.
His projects have appeared in over 40 film festivals with several nominations and wins. The West Virginian Starfish (2022) (Co-Director/ Executive Producer) collected 19 film festival appearances with 10 nominations and 3 wins, before landing digital distribution. Through a successful crowdfunding campaign, WVS was able to aid One Tree Planted in the planting of 100 trees in the Appalachian region.
