- Laurie did not begin taking acting classes until mid-life. After working for years in the corporate world in various financial positions, and then spending several years raising a family, Laurie gifted herself her first acting class for her 50th birthday, and was instantly smitten. Within 18 months of starting, she had earned her SAG-AFTRA eligibility.
- Met her husband Brad while a senior in high school. They married in 1980 and have lived in various states during his combined 35 year career with the military and FBI. They have two sons who were born in 1993 and 1994 in La Jolla, CA.
- Was named after the old Scottish song "Annie Laurie" based on the poem by William Douglas (1672-1748), as well as the 1927 silent film titled "Annie Laurie" directed by John S. Robertson, released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and starring Lillian Gish and John Wayne making his film debut as an uncredited extra.
- Graduated with Honors from San Diego State University with an MBA in Finance, and with High Honors from the University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA in Finance.
- Was born in Alabama, but raised in Texas. Her mother was a professional musician, songwriter, and piano teacher. Her father was an international product support rep for Bell Helicopter Textron in Fort Worth, Texas.
- Stunt doubled for Meryl Streep in a scene with Julia Roberts in the film August Osage County.
- Strongly supports and advocates for mental health and autism spectrum disorder awareness.
- Trained in classical ballet technique in her childhood, which she credits for forming her pattern for self-discipline in other areas of her life.
- Spent three months living in Entebbe, Uganda, East Africa, during the reign of Idi Amin in 1977. Ten months prior, her father's office at the Entebbe International Airport sustained collateral machine gun damage when the Israel Defense Forces rescued the Air France hijacking hostages being held by the PLO during this international event. The story was the subject of the Academy Award winning film, The Last King of Scotland.
