When Martin Scorsese commits to his next picture, immediately announcing something in a similar vein is… well, it’s not a decision I would make. But Gran Via and Wild Fiesta Productions are braver than I, since Variety reports that they’ve just snatched the rights to Bond Girl, a Wall Street-set novel from Erin Duffy.
Set right before 2008′s financial crisis, Bond revolves Alex Garrett, a recent college graduate struggling to ingrain herself within a prestigious, male-dominated Wall Street firm. Despite her considerable advances — among them, avoiding a client who takes up the habit of stalking her — the looming economic meltdown will serve as yet another obstacle. You can basically understand where producer Mark Johnson‘s coming from when labeling this “very much a tale of the time.”
