If you’re asking what happened to I Wanna Marry Harry you are part of a distinct club of viewers who were watching the reality ruse that had 12-American women thinking they could be dating the real Prince Harry. The man courting the ladies was actually 24-year-old Matthew Hicks (or as we’ve been calling him “Fph” or fake Prince Harry), who was schooled — and quite successful — in looking and acting like the redheaded royal. Fox canceled the series on Wednesday, June 11 due to dismal ratings (the show was apparently pulling less than 1 million viewers). For viewers dying … Continue reading →

The wedding is off. Fox has cancelled their new dating reality show, I Wanna Marry "Harry", after airing four episodes.
Co-produced by Ryan Seacrest, I Wanna Marry "Harry" follows a group of young American ladies who believe that they're in a dating competition to be with Prince Harry of Wales. In truth, "Harry" is a lookalike bachelor named Matthew Hicks. Are they falling in love with the man, or the crown?
The series debuted to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.9 million. Those might be okay numbers for The CW but certainly not for a Fox series. The numbers have gotten even worse in subsequent weeks and this week's episode drew a 0.4 rating with 991,000 viewers.
With four episodes remaining in the season, Fox has pulled Harry from the schedule effective immediately. Reruns of Fox comedies will fill...

I guess we'll never know if anyone wants to marry "Harry" -- at least not on TV.
Fox has cancelled I Wanna Marry "Harry", which had 12 ladies competing for the heart of who they thought was Prince Harry, but was actually just a regular guy named Matthew Hicks. (How they fell for this, I have no idea.) The plan was to have Hicks reveal his true identity at the very end, once there was only one woman left.

Some believe that Fox's new dating competition I Wanna Marry "Harry" is shameless and cruel. Others think that it's all in good fun. As ever, the ratings are what matter to the network. Will it be cancelled? If it's a success, could they make a second season now that the "trick" has been made public? Stay tuned!

Croquet, cricket and too much wine for Maggie (you go girl!) were the highlights of I Wanna Marry “Harry” episode 2, which aired on Fox May 27. This weekly mockery follows a group of American woman who are simply giddy over the possibility that they could win the heart of a mysterious Brit who they believe is Prince Harry (played quite eloquently by the no-royal-blood-in-this-guy Matthew Hicks). In last night’s episode, kudos go to Kimberely Birch (pictured), 23, for making two big milestones. The first, and it’s a big one, was the realization during a self-confessional that no one in … Continue reading →

Fox's I Wanna Marry "Harry" is the latest dating reality show to get people talking - whether it's about how their fake Prince Harry has a gaggle of girls believing he's the real deal, or the fact that the Harry impersonator, Matthew Hicks, looks so much like the real Prince Harry. We sat down with Hicks to chat about the show, how long he's been getting the comparison, and what's in store for the show.

Let's be real: if someone told us we had a chance at marrying Prince Harry, we'd think it was a cute joke. But what about when the idea becomes a reality dating show? Well, now we all can get a pretty good visual of how such a prank plays out. Fox's I Wanna Marry "Harry" premiered this week, and we are still amazed at how these women believe that this man, Matthew Hicks, is truly British royalty. Check out the video to see exactly how Fox tricked these hopeless romantics.

It's the club no one wants to be a part of. I Wanna Marry "Harry," Fox's reality dating competition starring a Prince Harry look-a-like and 12 women naive enough to be duped by the royal ruse, premiered to bad numbers on Tuesday night. Like, really bad. The series' debut attracted just 2.1 million viewers and an anemic 0.7 rating in the adults 18-49 demo. (Somewhere, in Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth is cackling. Or sleeping.) While pauper-turned-fake-Prince-Harry Matthew Hicks will soon be returning to his life of mediocrity, he can at least do it with the knowledge that I Wanna Marry "Harry" isn't the first TV show to completely crash and burn in its debut. So put on...

Matthew Hicks is not Prince Harry, he just plays him on TV (and occasionally in clubs, at parties and in other social events that put beer money in the 24-year-old's pocket). The star of Fox's new reality series “I Wanna Marry ‘Harry'” sat down on the day of his big TV debut for the latest episode of TheWrap's “Drinking With the Stars” to discuss how he kinda-sorta dupes 12 American women into thinking they're dating the real Royal Family troublemaker. The thing is, Hicks is simply presented as an eligible British bachelor (which he is), with an older brother (which he.

Even 11 years later, network TV has never aired anything else quite like Joe Millionaire, Fox’s groundbreakingly cruel, incredibly popular Reality 1.0 experiment. The basic premise, as if you could ever forget: 20 money-hungry airheads arrive at a gorgeous French chateau to compete for the affections of Evan Marriott, a man who has just inherited more than $50 million. They have no idea that Evan’s money is as fake as their eyelashes – he’s actually a blue-collar construction worker.

The royal ruse is on! I Wanna Marry "Harry," Fox's reality dating competition series that centers on a pauper pretending to be a prince, finally made its debut tonight and has already won the title of this summer's ultimate guilty pleasure. Sorry every other trashy reality series, you can go shave your backs now! Viewers were introduced to Matthew Hicks, a 23-year-old oil spill worker who can't afford a car, but just so happens to look like Prince Harry, as he underwent a regal transformation in the name of finding true love by duping 12 American women into thinking he was actually the world's most eligible prince. Ridiculous? Yes. Fun? Hell yes. While some of the ladies had their...

Number.) The only problem? The guy at the center of the series is Matthew Hicks, a Prince Harry look-a-like, a mere commoner who has now been thrust into the spotlight, thanks to show's ridiculously awesome premise. "It's bizarre, that's for sure," Matthew Hicks told E! News at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. "It came to me about a year ago. I put some pictures online on a look-a-like website, and the production company found me, came up...

Remember "Joe Millionaire," the cruel twist on dating show conventions that allowed a fleet of love-hungry women to chase a handsome guy on national TV under the misconception he had a ton of money when the reality was he was mostly broke? Ah, those were the days. Fox is back at it again with "I Wanna Marry 'Harry'" (premiering Tues. May 27 at 8:00 p.m. Et). The show has found a lookalike for the Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales (aka Prince Harry) in regular guy Matthew Hicks. Now, 12 suckers, I mean American women, get a chance to date him! Obviously, these women can't be the sharpest knives in the drawer if they think a royal this high up in the line of succession is going to look for love on an American reality TV show, but then again, a free vacation in England may have been temptation enough. The ladies include a preschool teacher,...

Source: Fox Back in March, Fox announced that it would be premiering a new royal-themed reality show called I Wanna Marry Harry. The show will follow 12 American women who are tricked into thinking that they are on a reality show to compete for the real Prince Harry's affections but are really romancing a fake prince. If you thought the premise was too ridiculous to actually make into a show, you're wrong, as the network released a new trailer for the show, and, yes, it looks like these American women really believe that the crimson-haired "look-alike," Matthew Hicks, is Harry. Either way, it sounds like Joe Millionaire meets The Bachelor meets Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire. The show premieres on May 27. Watch the trailer below. Have you ever wanted a chance to date Prince Harry? Well, it looks like you aren't the only one, as Fox may be headlining a new reality show where contestants get the chance to court a Harry look-a-like.
According to Deadline, 12 American women are whisked off to England where they are duped into believing they really have a chance with the Royal, however, the red-headed hunk is actually regular English "bloke," Matthew Hicks.
The idea started back when former Fox exec Mike Darnell bought in and ordered the show before he left the network in May. Though it's future was unsure, it has now been reported that his successor, Simon Andreae, is back on with the idea.
"I Wanna Marry Harry" is very similar to Fox's previous show called, "Joe Millionaire," in which women vied for the attention of who they thought was a rich bachelor but ended up being an average Joe.

The Bachelor may have had Prince Lorenzo Borghese, but a new reality show has promised women the chance to win the heart of Prince Harry – sort of.
On I Wanna Marry "Harry", 12 American women vie for the affections of a man they believe to be the red-headed royal – who in real life has been getting more serious with girlfriend Cressida Bonas.

The dashing (but common-born) Brit Matthew Hicks spent weeks at the palatial Englefield House in Berkshire poising as the prince in the new reality show, reminiscent of Fox's 2003 series Joe Millionaire.

Joe Millionaire lives!
Well, sort of. EW has confirmed that Fox will soon debut a new reality series called I Wanna Marry “Harry,” in which a dozen American ladies will compete for the heart of a man they’ve been led to believe is Prince William’s ginger-haired younger brother. In actuality, though, they’re courting Matthew Hicks, ”an average English bloke” who’s been given “the royal treatment and an upper crust makeover.”
The series shares more than a little DNA with Fox’s seminal 2003 reality competition Joe Millionaire – which makes sense, since both shows were initially developed by former Fox executive Mike Darnell.
