Scooby-Doo, the infamous cowardly dog, and his gang of mystery solvers are a beloved part of our childhood. Having started as a cartoon, it has led to several sequels, cross-media adaptations, live-action, and more, and thus, has become no less than a cultural phenomenon today.
A still from the much-hated Scooby-Doo reboot, Velma
Yet, not all reboots, crossovers, or even characters have been as successful among fans. And for the past year, it has been the animated reboot Velma that has been drawing the wrath of Scooby fans. In a surprising turn of events, the most hated character of the mythos, Scrappy-Doo, seemed to have redeemed himself by killing another most hated character of the franchise, Velma!

Everything’s ready for the big game this Sunday: treats, poop bags, pee pads and all. No, not that game. The Puppy Bowl is back again for its 20th year, featuring sports’ most revered face-off between Team Ruff and Team Fluff.
It takes a small village to pull off the match-up, with 120 crew members and 132 volunteers, including representatives from animal shelters. “Puppy Bowl Xx” features 131 puppy players from 73 different rescues.
And all those pups require quite a bit of tender loving care during the multi-day shoot in Glen Falls, N.Y. This year’s game used 600 pee pads, 200 toys, 30 water bowls, 10 bags of treats and 200 poop bags.
At the heart of the action is ruff-eree Dan Schachner, who’s had the cutest gig in show business for the last 13 years. He can’t believe how much the annual event has grown during that time. “The amount of adoptable puppies we...

Caroline Wozniacki worked her way through a good first round opening win at the US Open , claiming the victory in straight sets.
Wozniacki made quite light work of her inexperienced opponent, beating World No.227 Tatiana Prozorova in a more competitive first set, before outstaying her completely in the second set. Wozniacki will recognise there are definitely sterner challenges ahead, but this is a great platform to build from.
Wozniacki hadn't featured in a Grand Slam singles match for over three years after initially retiring at the 2020 Australian Open, bowing out that day to Ons Jabeur in the opening round. However, since making the decision to return to competitive action , Wozniacki definitely feels like there is unfinished business in this next phase of her tennis career.
Perhaps that there is big room for opportunity to continue to win the biggest trophies and she wants to test herself against this next crop...

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "Fubar."
"Fubar" features the coolest 65-year-old CIA operative, Luke Brunner, who busts Russian mobsters and takes down baddies in style. Played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who couldn't be more perfect for the role, Luke had an eventful run as a CIA agent over the years and is finally ready to retire and spend more time with his family. However, his plans are thwarted when he is pulled into one last mission in Guyana, where he must extract another agent codenamed Panda while stopping an illegal arms dealer from putting a nuke suitcase up for auction. While such a mission would generally be a cakewalk for someone like Brunner, things get complicated when he discovers that his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) is the agent he is meant to extract.
Owing to the nature of his job, Luke was never been able to be around his family much,...

HBO Max's "Velma" looks nothing like any "Scooby-Doo" we've seen before. Some of the changes the new series has made to the half-century-old franchise are obviously good ones, like character redesigns that imagine some Mystery Inc. characters as people of color, and a romantic subplot between Daphne (Constance Wu) and Velma (Mindy Kaling). Others are a little more unexpected, like the weird amount of emphasis the show pays to Fred's (Glenn Howerton) puberty timeline, and the fact that he, Daphne, and Velma all start the series as totally unlikeable jerks.
Although his character remains the most endearing of the bunch, Sam Richardson's Shaggy may have gone through one of the biggest transformations of any of his fellow mystery-solvers. The lanky, green-wearing high schooler here goes by his given name of Norville, and he doesn't have the Great Dane companion the series is most known-for. He's also not a stoner or beatnik,...

When word got out that HBO Max was working on a Velma origin story, fan responses were all over the place. It's not that "Scooby-Doo" fans dislike the four-eyed, orange-clad investigator who's been integral to Mystery Inc. since it first began in 1969. Rather, the hesitant responses to "Velma" were related to other aspects of the Mindy Kaling-led show, including its adult humor and violence, changes in animation style and characterization, and a conspicuous lack of the crime-solving Great Dane himself.
But if you look closely at the history of the long-running franchise, it's clear that for as long as Scooby and the gang have been on the air in some form or another, the shows have been repeatedly reinventing. And while that constant reinvention has often caused cyclical, ahistorical outrage from picky viewers, it's also the key to what makes "Scooby-Doo" so satisfying after all these years.

Since “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?” premiered as a Saturday morning cartoon on CBS back on September 13, 1969, it has become a staple of pop culture –the Mystery Machine, the insatiable Great Dane and the small-scale conspiracies that undoubtedly involve a villainous landowner and a rubber mask, have appeared in a variety of television series, movies (on the big and small-screen) and other miscellaneous media.
“Scooby-Doo” has been interpreted for live-action, computer animation and beyond. And the latest iteration of the property is “Velma,” which focuses on our favorite glasses-wearing, mystery-solving super-nerd. And this might be the most radical reinvention yet, with a harder edge, an intriguing central mystery and a wonderful art style that borrows from “Steven Universe” and oscillates between adorable and chilling.
But when (and where?) can you watch “Velma?” Read on to find out!

The Scooby Gang can’t take a step without running into some kind of villain; they’re constantly chased by things that go bump in the night. Ever since 1969, the iconic Great Dane and his loyal companions have found themselves in trouble wherever they go, in or out of Coolsville. And though it may seem unnecessary to work Halloween into any given story, seeing as Scooby-Doo! doesn’t ever need a special occasion to get creepy, there’s something irresistible about those mysteries set on All Hallows’ Eve.
The long-running franchise has certainly amassed a staggering amount of cases over the years, but these ten stand out due to their Halloween backdrops.
