As promised, I’m back writing again about filmmaker Quentin Tarantino’s eighth cinematic outing this week. Whenever a new movie of his opens, it’s really an event, so this is no exception. Of late, Tarantino has been getting the attention of the Academy, so this is definitely a high profile release. Buzz had been steadily building for months now, with folks especially excited for the 70mm roadshow version being unveiled in select theaters. I’ve seen and dug the flick a great deal, so it’s a pleasure to be able to speak more about how good this film is. I praised Bruce Dern’s work in it a few days ago, but now I’m gushing over the whole thing, as well as speculating about its Oscar prospects. Once again, this is Tarantino’s eight film, centering on a group of less than savory characters convening on a single location,...

Jackson, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Demian Bechir and Walton Goggins, who he calls "The Tarantino superstars,." Also starring Channing Tatum, James Parks, Dana Gourrier, Keith Jefferson, Lee Horsley, Craig Stark, Belinda Owino and Gene Jones, the film just left Colorado to finish shooting in La, where Tarantino continues to run his 35mm haven at the New Beverly. Read More: Quentin Tarantino Enjoys Running the New Beverly, Even When He's Shooting a Movie As we learned at last year's La live read, "Hateful Eight" pays claustrophobic homage to "The Petrified Forest" and "Key Largo," where a group of strangers trapped in a contained space need to figure out who the others are in order to survive.

Quentin Tarantino’s script from The Hateful Eight made quite an amount of headlines when it was leaked online, and subsequently Tarantino shelved the project and sued Gawker. Today a judge dismissed Quentin Tarantino’s claims that Gawker breached his copyright.Los Angeles District Court Judge John F. Walter ruled that the director’s lawyers didn’t demonstrate that anyone had actually seen the script as a result of the link on the website. Tarantino’s legal team has until the end of the month to refile with more substantial evidence. That aside, Tarantino and a cast of the directors regular collaborators including Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth and James Parks did a read through at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. This was a one time only event, so don’t expect to see it coming to your town anytime soon. Quentin Tarantino did give some hope for the movie though,...

Here’s a new hope for fans of Quentin Tarantino who want to see his script for The Hateful Eight turned into a real live movie: he is working on the script again. Tarantino is just coming off the staged reading of the film at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, and he seems to have enjoyed the process. The project was originally slated to film this year, but Tarantino decided not to move forward after the first draft of the script was leaked in January.
But on Saturday, Tarantino told the audience that he is working on a second draft and is planning to write a third draft. That seems like a lot of effort for a script you never want to shoot. The Film Stage is reporting that the film will go into production next winter, but no one else has picked that up, so let’s call it a wishful rumor.

In January, Quentin Tarantino unleashed a tirade on the movie industry over someone from his inner circle leaking the script for his planned Western The Hateful Eight. Now he has decided to resume work on the script, though its fate still remains undetermined. On Saturday, he hosted a stage reading of the first draft of the script in Los Angeles at a Film Independent–sponsored event.

Three months ago filmmaker Quentin Tarantino said he was cancelling his plans to make his leaked western movie script "Hateful Eight" into a movie, opting instead to publish the screenplay as a book.
At the time though he also gave the caveat that he may return to the project some time in the future. That time may be sooner than expected judging by the one-night-only stage reading of the screenplay which took place this weekend.
Tarantino told the audience that the script is still very much a work in progress and he is "working right now on a second draft" whilst the reading was from the first draft. Split into five chapters, Tarantino says the final chapter would either be removed or completely rewritten.

After the script for his The Hateful Eight leaked earlier this year, a "very, very depressed" Quentin Tarantino said he would not be moving forward with the project. He may have changed his mind: On Saturday night, Tarantino presented a three and a half–hour staged reading of the film at L.A.'s Ace Hotel. "We’ve been rehearsing this for the last three days and we’re not bad," he told the crowd, which included Harvey and Bob Weinstein. Tarantino project alums Samuel L Jackson, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, James Parks, Amber Tamblyn, Michael Madsen, Denis Ménochet, James Remar, Walton Goggins, and Bruce Dern were on hand to read the roles of the post–Civil War western, which is broken up into five chapters.Variety reports that the standing-room–only audience enjoyed a "violent, bloody tale, laced with profanity and even vomit." Though chapter five (titled "Black Night,...

The Hateful Eight isn’t dead after all.
Quentin Tarantino vowed to kill the project – a Wyoming-set, post-Civil War western — when the script was leaked in January.
“I’m going to publish it , and that’s it for now,” the director said at the time. “I give out to six people, and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I’ll publish it. I’m done. I’ll move on to the next thing. I’ve got 10 more where that came from.”
But at an all-star reading of The Hateful Eight script on Saturday,...

While Quentin Tarantino is suing Gawker Media over their decision to link to the leaked script for what would have been his new movie, The Hateful Eight, the writer/director held a live-reading of the first draft last night at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles with a star-studded cast. If you've managed to get your hands on the script, perhaps some of these character names will be familiar to you, but the actors most certainly will be as Samuel L. Jackson read the part of Major Marquis Warren, James Parks as the driver O.B., Kurt Russell as bounty hunter John Ruth, aka 'The Hangman', Amber Tamblyn as his prisoner Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, Denis Menochet as the Frenchman Bob, Tim Roth as the Englishman Oswaldo Mobray, Michael Madsen as John Gage, Bruce Dern as Confederate General Smithers, Dana Gourrier as Minnie, Zoe Bell as...
