The latest narrative film about a musician – Bob Marley: One Love – ultimately plays out more as a celebration of Bob Marley than as a “warts-and-all” biography; and that is to the film’s benefit.
Whereas the film could have become burdened by monotonously moving through Marley’s life from one pivotal moment to the next, it instead bounces around the singer’s story in a whimsical, often spiritual way that enables his saga to take on a more grandiose aura than might have been expected otherwise.
Bob Marley: One Love begins with Marley and his band prepping for a free concert in Jamaica. However, when threats of violence against the singer should he perform put his health and well-being at risk, the actual performance is cut short, and the rest of the film begins to play out. What follows is an inspiring story of the singer’s triumph over numerous...

The Killers have unveiled their greatest hits album, Rebel Diamonds, which features a newly released song called “Spirit.”
Rebel Diamonds features songs from all seven of The Killers’ studio albums, and is ordered chronologically to make up a 20-track record. “20 songs for 20 years,” Flowers says in the album’s trailer. Among some of the greatest hits on the album are “Mr. Brightside,” “Somebody Told Me,” and “When You Were Young.” The band’s latest singles “boy” and “Your Side of Town” are also featured on the album.
“Spirit” is the final track on Rebel Diamonds, and packs plenty of familiar charm for longtime fans of The Killers. Combining the band’s classic throttle with ’80s synth-pop-style keys, frontman Brandon Flowers sings, “Where does the spirit go? Is it someplace holy?/ Is it holy and free?” The Killers previously played the anthemic track live on tour, but this marks its first official release.

Peaky Blinders actor Kingsley Ben-Adir dons dreadlocks and speaks in a Jamaican patois to play a reggae legend in the latest trailer for Bob Marley: One Love, which dropped Tuesday.
The biopic has Marley overcoming adversity, including a failed assassination attempt, to rise to musical fame with a message of love and unity in dangerous times. “There’s a war going on. How I can bring peace? I can’t even get peace for myself,” a fretting Marley says at one point in the trailer.
The movie, based on real events, recounts a failed attempt to murder Marley in his home in Kingston, Jamaica, which only drove the reggae legend to double down on his mission to unify a divided nation with revolutionary music.
Produced in partnership with the Marley family, Bob Marley: One Love also stars Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley, the wife of the music superstar. “Sometimes the...

The Chloé spring/summer 2024 collection marks Gabriela Heart’s last one for the brand. It was announced in July that she’d be stepping down after weeks of rumors about her departure. But on Sept. 28 during Paris Fashion Week, she went out in style, with a finale of bombastic cheer in front of a host of Hollywood A-listers from Barbie actresses America Ferrera and Issa Rae to names including Olivia Wilde, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, singer Kelly Rowland and tennis star Venus Williams.
“I’ve known Gabriela since going to the Met Gala with her back in 2016, for Gabriela Hearst [Hearst’s eponymous brand]. “Mr. Brightside” may live on in karaoke bars until the end of time, but Brandon Flowers is ready to leave that phase of his band behind: In a new profile with The Times UK, The Killers frontman said that halfway into recording what was supposed to be their next album, they scrapped the project entirely.
“Halfway through recording I realized, ‘I can’t do this,’” Flowers said. “This isn’t the kind of record… I think this will be the… I don’t think you’ll see us making this type of music anymore.”
Presumably, “this type of music” is in reference to the ’80s new wave sheen of The Killers’ early albums like their 2004 debut Hot Fuss and its follow-up Sam’s Town. They seemed to tap back into that aesthetic on last Friday’s new single “Your Side of Town,” but Flowers says that these days, he’s...

The band just released the synth-driven song “Your Side of Town” on Friday, which was intended to be on a new album. However, the LP has been nixed.
“Halfway through recording I realised, ‘I can’t do this,’” Flowers told the publication. “This isn’t the kind of record. . .” He paused and added, “I think this will be the . . .” And then said, “I don’t think...

The Killers have released their new single “Your Side of Town.” Stream the song below.
“Hello everyone, with much excitement we present you with ‘Your Side of Town,'” the band shared in a social media statement announcing the song. “It’s got the ghosts of a lot of synth music that inspired us over the years. And yet somehow feels completely our own. Now it’s yours! Turn it up.”
“Your Side of Town” is The Killers’ first new music since last year’s one-off single “boy,” which originated from the Las Vegas group’s sessions for 2021’s Pressure Machine. The new song was produced by the band, along with Stuart Price and Shawn Everett. Leaning heavily into the ’80s-inspired vibe, the single also interlopes modern sounds, even putting a healthy layer of pitch-correction on Brandon Flowers’ voice.

Brandon Flowers is apparently a little unfamiliar with the complicated history of post-Soviet Eastern Europe, and now The Killers are apologizing for it. On Tuesday, August 15th, the band was met with boos from a crowd in the country of Georgia for bringing out a Russian fan to play drums. The next day, the band issued a statement explaining that it was “never [their] intention to to offend anyone.” Watch video clips and read the full statement below.
The Killers were mid-set at the Black Sea Arena in Batumi, Georgia, on Tuesday night, when they brought out a fan to play drums for the song “For Reasons Unknown,” which is something they say is a “longstanding tradition.” The controversy arose when Flowers asked the crowd: “We don’t know the etiquette of this land, but this guy’s a Russian, [are you all] okay with a Russian coming up here?”

Cementing their place as auteurs of the absurd, Spanish writer-directors Juan González and Nando Martínez, of creative outfit Burnin Percebes, presented their latest feature “The Fantastic Golem Affairs,” to audiences at the Malaga Film Festival.
A sci-fi caper that embodies the duo’s freeform, standalone filmmaking style, it competed alongside further buzz titles “20.000 Species Of Bees,” from Spanish director Estíbaliz Urresola, and Gerardo Herrero’s,“Under Therapy.”
Selected for Canada’s Fantasia Film Festival, it begins after a night of heavy drinking, with quintessential bachelor Juan and his friend David playing a game of charades on the roof. During a highly-animated round, David falls from the ledge and shatters into a million ceramic pieces. The event sets off a fiendishly ludicrous odyssey through Juan’s daily affairs as he seeks to uncover the truth behind his ruptured relationship.
