The Affair looks to its past when considering the future in a cathartic entry that’s a high point for both the season and Noah Solloway.

The Affair Season 5 Episode 7
“That’s not how I remember it…”
There’s a scene in episode “507” of The Affair where Noah attempts to give a peace offering to Whitney, only to discover that he’s essentially brought her poison ivy. This thoughtful, yet ultimately unhelpful act, perfectly distills Noah through this episode. He’s trying to help and it’s a flashy performance, but he may actually just be getting under people’s skin.
Making amends is typically seen as productive behavior, but that’s not always the case. It’s possible for people to make amends, but use that as just another way to justify their actions and help them sleep at night.

Warning: If you have not watched The Affair Season 2 finale and do not want to know who killed Scott Lockhart, do not ready any further. I’m serious. Not … another … word. That said, no matter which of the likely suspects you had your cash on (unless it was Whitney. Whitney doesn’t drive, people!), odds are good you’re, at least in part, correct. Depending, I guess, on whose version of events you believe. Only one, however, exonerates Noah. We open in the present, where Detective Jeffries has returned to the scene of the crime — the roadside spot with … Continue reading →

Well. And you thought your family holidays can get weird. This episode of Showtime’s The Affair spends Thanksgiving with Alison and Cole as both navigate the boundryless minefield that is their simmering emotions, their fragile family ties and what is and isn’t real in their hearts, minds and lives. Athena reveals a touching secret — and Cherry a horrifying one — but are both revelations too late to be of any help to their children at all? And Oscar drops a bombshell that feasibly connects a few more dots in the mystery of who killed Scott Lockhart and what the real motivation might be. It’s a midseason-finale-worthy episode— and … Continue reading →

How did we get here
We took the slow way
Do you love me
What am I supposed to say
Those haunting, heart-tugging lyrics from the song "Walls" by the band Stars plays over the new trailer for Showtime's Golden Globe-winning "The Affair." The exchange between the male and female singer captures the mood of the teaser, which shows us that Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) continue their affair as their respective marriages crumble.
Watch the trailer.
This season will double down on the drama, literally, as the show expands from two points of view to four. We'll see more from Noah's ex Helen (Maura Tierney) and Alison's ex Cole (Joshua Jackson).
As Noah and Alison navigate their relationship, they also have to contend with the police's ongoing investigation of Scott Lockhart's death. Noah claims he's innocent, but if he is, who did kill Scott?
"The Affair" season 2 premieres this fall.
