CBS is looking for some “Salvation” next summer. The network has given a series order to the new suspense thriller, which comes from Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout shingle.
The one-hour serialized drama has been given a 13-episode order by CBS, which will air the show during summer 2017. “Salvation” follows an MIT grad student and a tech superstar who tell a low-level Pentagon official that they’ve made a terrifying discovery: An asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth.

CBS is restocking its shelves for summer. Days after canceling two of its three scripted summer series, the network has given a straight-to-series order to Salvation, an event series from Alex Kurtzman, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Described as a suspense thriller, Salvation centers on an MIT grad student and a tech superstar who bring a low-level Pentagon official a staggering discovery — that an asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth. "Of course I’d love to do Star Wars and work with Jj Abrams again because we had such a good time on Star Trek. But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that’s that rumour quashed… We’ll have to wait and see." [Source: The Telegraph]
