Welp, it’s been in the wind for a while but Gina Carano finally posted enough nonsense online for Lucasfilm to categorically state that it has no plans to work with her in the future and that her views are “abhorrent and unacceptable,” so it looks like we’ve seen the last of former Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune in Disney+’s hugely popular Star Wars series, The Mandalorian.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” said Lucasfilm in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
A source told THR that Lucasfilm had “been looking for a reason to fire [Carano] for two months, and today was the final straw.” This was swiftly followed by confirmation from her talent agency UTA that they’d dropped her as a client.

900 numbers for polling purposes, charging users for each call placed, was a 1980s fad that seemed perfect to employ in comic books for some sort of stunt. Editor Denny O’Neil and DC’s Marketing team, led by Bruce Bristow, conceived of the stunt and Jim Starlin wrote the four-part “Death in the Family” storyline to accommodate the stunt. Jason Todd, the second Robin, never was accepted by fans, either under his father, writer Gerry Conway or the post-Crisis writers Max Allan Collins and Jim Starlin. Callers got to say he would live or die.
It went on to become a media sensation, and a closer than expected vote. It also brought down the wrath of Warner Bros who was unaware of the event and the press attention because, back then, DC was a pimple on the conglomerate’s butt and no one considered telling them.
Still, the strong storyline...

Marvel Studios had their first screening for Captain Marvel last night, and the first reactions from the critics who got to see it have flooded social media!
As you’ll see from all the positive buzz, they loved the movie! Several of them talked about the film being filled with surprises that they didn’t see coming, and they praise the actors and the style of the movie. Then there’s Goose the cat who gets a lot of love as well.
I was already excited for the movie, but after reading these reactions from many of my peers, I’m even more excited to see it! I know a lot of people are on the fence about this film; some aren’t really even interested in seeing it. But maybe some of these these reactions will change your mind.
In the end, go see the movie for yourself and form your own opinion.

If you met a time traveler from the future, what would you say to her? If your answer is “invite her to split the rent,” then you’re thinking like Em. Em (played by Gina DeVivo) is one of the three primary characters in Future Girl, a delightful new web series that can be found on the YouTube channel of co-star Amy Dallen.
Dallen is best known for talking about comics in a Geek & Sundry-supported vlog, and Future Girl’s premise would certainly work well as a graphic novel: Dallen portrays Curie, a time-travelling scientist who is living in the present in order to gather data for her grad thesis. Em is Curie’s down-on-her-luck roommate, and their third roommate is Viking (Heather Wood), a medieval warrior who Curie brings forward from the past.
The temporal disparity between the three roommates serves as the basis of Future Girl’s comedy,...

At YouTube Brandcast, Felicia Day was one of the first people on stage, and the Guild star did a great job of telling the audience how YouTube allowed her to explore her passions, which had been undermined in her roles on traditional TV. She then teased Geek and Sundry Vlogs, a YouTube hub dedicated to a similar ideal. Day has now launched the new channel, and judging from her introductory video, she is hoping it allows other nerd culture fans to express their passions of a wide variety of geeky subjects. In said video, Day announces the new channel and then gives the floor to her channel's eight inaugural vloggers: Nika Harper, Amy Dallen, Becca and Neil of Geeking Out, Jeff Lewis, Katie Satow, James "The Monkey" Isaacs, and Sachie. Geek and Sundry Vlogs has already posted each vlogger's first effort. Each offering is generally geeky, but they all have...
