MTV's second season of "Taking the Stage" premieres tonight and it has definitely had a makeover.
Season one fans will recognize dancer/playboy Tyler Nelson and singer/drama queen Mia Carruthers, who isn't a regular, but will have a recurring role.
What you won't recognize are the gaggle of new incoming freshmen. Also other than tonight's hour-long premiere episode, the show is also only a half hour this season as opposed to last season's full hour of weekly guilty pleasure. New episodes air an hour later than last season, as well, after "America's Best Dance Crew," so it remains to be seen if its audience will stick around for new episodes in their later time slot.
"Taking the Stage's" virgin season roped us in with its real life "Fame" storylines and diverse cast. Last season, the show performed well among 12-34 year olds in the Nielsen ratings. Each week, those...

Tonight’s “American Idol” live-blog is dedicated to Allison Iraheta, my personal Idol. In honor of the recent oustee, I expect all of you to refuse to give me any credit I might deserve in this live-blog. Your comments should be comprised of backhanded compliments, faint praise and “that ones” while you over-praise other bloggers who are lazy and aren’t deserving of their unstoppable success. Deal?
Check out Jim Cantiello’s video recap of the show below!
We now resume with our regularly scheduled live-blog.
And then there were two…with a third wheel.
Yes, in a season that’s felt as endless as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons”, the finale is approaching faster than Kara can say “Here’s the thing…”
The three remaining contestants had their hometown visits last week, which I imagine was a great morale booster. Although we all know one contestant doesn’t...

Tonight, although Mia should know better than fall for a guy who has a girlfriend, Tyler’s not exactly blameless in this whole situation. In fact, it almost seems like he’s been purposely keeping her around, like a backup girlfriend for when things finally (inevitably?) blow up with Jasmine. But apparently, Mia’s tired of waiting around for Tyler to make up his mind. So this week, she’s giving him a four word ultimatum: “Break up with Jasmine”. “Taking the Stage” airs Thursdays at 10pm Et/Pt on MTV. Stay tuned to Shockya.com for the latest videos and news from “Taking the Stage” on MTV.

Q: I am an avid Heroes fan, and despite the original intentions for Zach -- who can forget that debacle? -- there hasn't been much love for gay characters. Is there any chance we will see a legitimate gay "special" on the show? -- Vincent, Sicklerville, NJ
A: “There was some talk about making Danko gay,” Bryan Fuller, consulting producer of Heroes (and the creator of the canceled gay fave Pushing Daisies), tells AfterElton.com. “It was decided it was best to not have our first gay character be a villain, but a gay hero is definitely on the docket for season four in terms of things we'd like to do.”
