An American In Paris moved to Broadway following its world premiere in December, 2014 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. It is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, making his Broadway directing debut. Featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Craig Lucas, the creative team also includes Tony Award winners Bob Crowley sets and costumes, Natasha Katz lighting and Jon Weston sound with a musical score adapted and supervised by Rob Fisher. Pilot casting is starting to heat up, and several actors familiar to TV fans have landed roles. The latest:
- Jessica Lucas, one of the better things about The CW's ill-fated "Melrose Place" reboot, will return to the network for its drama pilot "Cult," from writer Rockne S. O'Bannon ("Farscape") and "Gossip Girl" executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. She'll star as a production assistant on a TV show who begins to suspect some of its fans are re-creating crimes from the series. [Deadline]
- A pair of multiple Emmy winners are in talks to star in NBC's adaptation of the Britcom "Friday Night Dinner." Allison Janney and Tony Shalhoub would play the parents of two grown children who come home for a Shabbat dinner every Friday. Former "Wizards of Waverly Place" star Jake T. Austin is following up his role in the star-studded flick "New Year's Eve" with a guest gig on NBC's "Law & Order: Svu."
In the episode titled "Home Invasions," Austin will play Rob Fisher, the boyfriend of a girl whose family is massacred. No air date for the episode has been set yet.
"It's an honor to be a part of such a respected series," Austin said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "Being a New Yorker myself, I'm a huge fan of the show and can't wait to start filming."
"Wizards of Waverly Place" recently aired its final season. The finale was watched by 9.8 million viewers.
On the big screen, Austin can next be see playing Huck Finn in 2013's "Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn" opposite "Super 8" star Joel Courtney.
