If there's a Six Degrees of Cancellation game, we have a contender. Variety reports Ioan Gruffudd has joined the second season cast of the UnREAL TV series on Lifetime. Gruffudd starred as Henry Morgan on Forever, which was cancelled by ABC after one season.
He also played opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar, as Andrew Martin, on Ringer, which was cancelled by The CW, also after one season. Andrew's romantic rival on Ringer was Henry Butler (Kristoffer Polaha). Polaha was UnREAL star Shiri Appleby's love interest on Life Unexpected, which The CW cancelled after two seasons.

At first glance, you may think of Kate Flannery as her drunken character Meredith on NBC's The Office. You may expect Creed or Kevin to pop out to join her or you may think that a bat will begin to circle her head soon with Dwight hovering over her with a black trash bag. Or, you could also think of a slew of other roles she plays like her work in her comedy act Lampshades, her stints on Saturday Night Live, Wendy in the Wendy's Hamburger commercials and even her work in the late Nora Ephron's "Love, Loss and What I Wore" on the New York stage. But despite having a memorable face and a shot glass usually glued to her hand, Kate has been able to step away from Dunder Mifflin for a bit to host the new TV Guide Network series StandUp in Stilettos.

On Ringer, Sarah Michelle Gellar does double work as twin sisters Siobhan and Bridget, but she.s not the only duplicitous character. Ioan Gruffudd plays Andrew Martin, a loving husband who might be harboring some dark secrets of his own. I spoke to Gruffudd about Ringer.s twists, Andrew.s motivation, and the show.s chances for a second season.

In the CW drama, "Ringer," Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd stars as Andrew Martin, a self-made millionaire who struggles to balance his work and family life with his wife and daughter. In real life, Gruffudd is happy to have put down roots in Los Angeles with his wife, British actor Alice Evans (who he met on the set of "102 Dalmatians"), and their three-year-old daughter. Gruffudd, who is known for playing characters like Hortatio Hornblower in the "Hornblower" TV movie series, Mr. Fantastic in "The Fantastic Four" and "Fantastic Four 2," Tony Blair in "W," and Lancelot in "King Arthur," admits that after traveling around the world to shoot various films, it was very appealing to accept a role in a series that shot in Los Angeles. "I loved the character of Andrew and I loved the entire concept - all the delicious ingredients," he says. "Also the fact that it...

A Rescue Me veteran is stepping into The CW’s Ringer as a trouble-making step mom.
Andrea Roth has been cast in the recurring role of Catherine — that’s the ex wife of Siobhan’s husband Andrew Martin and the mother of Juliet. She’s described as “beautiful, sexy and intimidating … smart, conniving and can be very vindictive.”
Catherine comes to New York and “causes turmoil for the Martin family” (which, naturally includes our heroine Smg). In addition to appearing in 93 episodes of FX’s Rescue Me, Roth also had a recurring role on CBS’ Blue Bloods.

Check out these new photos from Ringer Episode 5, “A Whole New Kind Of Bitch.” The gallery features Zoey Deutch as Juliet, Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Siobhan Martin/Bridget Kelly, Kris Polaha as Henry and Tara Summers as Gemma. In “A Whole New Kind Of Bitch” Gemma (Tara Summers) asks Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who is still posing as Siobhan, to do her a favor that could cost Bridget everything. Henry (Kristoffer Polaha) is given some crushing news about his writing career, and Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) has to deal with his tumultuous relationship with his teenage daughter Juliet (Zoey Deutch). Bridget meets a potential new sponsor named Charlie (guest star Billy Miller) at a local Narcotics Anonymous meeting, while Malcolm (Mike Colter) must face his demons when he is put in a position that could jeopardize his sobriety. Nestor Carbonell also stars. Janice Cooke directed the episode written by Shintaro.

Sarah Michelle Gellar isn’t the only geek icon returning to television this fall in Ringer. Ioan Gruffudd — maybe best known to the masses for playing super-elastic egghead Reed Richards in two Fantastic Four movies — boasts a large following himself for playing author C.S. Forester’s fictional 18th/19th century British naval hero Horatio Hornblower in a series of eight impressively-produced Emmy-winning TV movies that aired on A&E from 1998 to 2003. Gruffudd, 37, loves being identified with the role — and would love to be playing it for years to come. The Welsh actor — whose other film credits include Titanic, Black Hawk Down,...

Sarah Michelle Gellar Returns to TV on the CW's "Ringer"
Sarah Michelle Gellar has returned to television. After years of portraying Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the actress left the small screen for a short stint in feature films as well as family life. As Buffy, Gellar was asked to be both grim and funny, to be vulnerable and indomitable. Her performance mixed with Whedon’s genius created a memorable series and character that went beyond high school being truly hell. Now she is back in the CW series Ringer. Can she woo audiences and her old fans in a new way?
The answer without pandering is too early early to tell. Sure that is a cop out but it is the truth. I always thought Gellar was a versatile actress, Buffy and Cruel Intentions, showed me that. It seems like playing twins, who couldn’t be more opposite from one...

The big draw for the mysteries new CW show Ringer this fall is the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar to episodic television. It's not a bad thing that the network is pushing her role in the show. After all, she has a lot of fans from her Buffy days and there's no harm in trying to attract them to Ringer. But Buffy fans shouldn't expect to see the Slayer in this show. It's about as different from Buffy as you can get, but that's not a bad thing.
Gellar has dual obligations in this show as both Bridget and Siobhan, identical twins who are estranged when the series begins. Bridget is a former stripper and drug user who witnessed a murder and is currently under FBI witness protection when the show opens. Unfortunately, she decides that the threats against her are too great and flees to New York to meet her wealthy sister Siobhan.

Ringer is as confusing as it is anticipated.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is playing how many characters?!? Which is in trouble with the law?!? And how is that guy from Lost involved?!?
Extended Ringer Preview
Fortunately, The CW has released the official season premiere description for next Tuesday's opener - a review of which will be live on TV Fanatic the moment the episode concludes - that could make sense of the tangled plot. Check it out below.
Bridget Kelly (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is six-months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness in a murder trial. Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell), Bridget knows her life is on the line. She flees to New York, telling no one, and reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar). Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin...

Sarah Michelle Gellar is back on TV and this time she is taking on two roles! Best known for playing kick ass vampire slayer Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar returns in the new CW show Ringer.
The CW website describes the show as,

The CW has sent us over some gallery images for their new new show starring former Buffy Sarah Michelle Gellar, called Ringer. We’ve spent a great deal of time (and will continue to do so) with the numerous Ringer casting developments over the last several months. Gellar double dips as Siobhan Martin and Bridget Kelly, and she’s joined by group that include Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, Kris Polaha as Henry, Tara Summers as Gemma, Nestor Carbonell as Victor Machado and Mike Colter as Malcolm Ward — all of who are pictured below. Ringer is set to debut this month on September 13th. For your convenience I’ve also reposted the 3-minute series preview that CW released earlier in the summer.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am that Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to television. Sure, she's no longer playing Buffy (one of my favorite shows of all time), but she's back in a new show that I think displays a lot of promise. I've noticed that the critics are divided about Ringer right now, but I enjoyed the pilot episode. The show isn't infallible, but I'm definitely interested in learning what's coming next.

Ringer is probably one of the most anticipated pilots of the 2011 Fall Season. Scheduled to premiere on The CW on September 13th, the show is bringing back to television a fan favorite: Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Wildly known for her seven-year stint on the hit show Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, (where she played the protagonist, Buffy Summers) Gellar is returning to TV this fall after a long hiatus.
Ringer will tell the story of a woman who, after witnessing a murder, goes on the run. She finds the perfect hiding place by assuming the life of her very rich identical twin sister. However, her sister’s life seems to be just as complicated as hers. Bridget is six months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness to a murder. Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado, Bridget knows she is danger.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Because I have a "thing" for Sarah Michelle Gellar, I must admit that I came into the Ringer panel at Comic Con as a biased spectator. While I obviously don't harbor any sexual longing for her, during her years as a '90s teen icon I still developed something of a platonic crush, first during her run on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and later with roles in films like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Cruel Intentions.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the Comic-Con screening of the pilot, so I have no idea whether or not it was any good (though I've heard raves from the rest of the AfterElton.com staff). However, the plot, which has Gellar playing a dual role as estranged twin sisters Bridget/Siobhan, sounds intriguing enough.

Entertainment Weekly have just debuted Comic Con promotional artwork for CW’s new show Ringer, the first network series from Sarah Michelle Gellar since she retired her stake as Buffy the Vampire Slayer eight years ago. Time just flies doesn’t it?
After a brief flirtation with what looked like it could blossom into a successful film career (2004′s horror The Grudge was her biggest hit), she quickly became typecast as the horror victim (yes… despite kicking vampire and monster ass for so many years!!) and the desperate attempts to re-capture The Grudge’s success mostly fell flat on their face. The last few years you would be mistaken for presuming she had all but retired from the industry.

Who is ready for the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar to television? I know I am! How’s this for a byline in today’s exciting preview of the new CW series, Ringer? Two sisters. One face.
Gellar portrays twins for the pilot episode, each with some hefty problems on their shoulders. When Siobhan disappears in an apparent suicide, despite an ultra posh lifestyle, Bridget, the recovering drug addict sister who is hiding from the mob after witnessing a murder, takes on her persona. The plot thickens when the suicidal twin’s life reveals just as much trouble as Bridget’s and a snooping cop, portrayed by The Dark Knight‘s Nestor Carbonell keeps sniffing around.
Also in the pilot are Life Unexpected actor Kristoffer Polaha as Henry, Fantastic Four‘s Ioan Gruffudd as Andrew Martin, and Tara Summers as Gemma. Gruffudd also portrayed Tony Blair for W on the big screen.

Fans of The Oc and Buffy rejoice! Among the CW's fall lineup are two new shows starring former California girl Rachel Bilson and vampire killer Sarah Michelle Gellar. In Ringer, Gellar stars as Bridget Cafferty, a recovering alcoholic with a troubled past. After witnessing a murder, she flees to New York from the killers who want her dead. There, she reunites with her estranged twin sister Siobhan, a wealthy Manhattanite who is married to the handsome Andrew Martin (Fantastic Four's Ioan Gruffudd). When Siobhan goes missing, Bridget decides to pose as her sister, stepping into her seemingly perfect life to avoid her own troubles.

Sarah Michelle Gellar's Ringer is going to have a lot to live up to considering one of its primary draws lies in Gellar's first major return to television since Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with no supernatural hook to bridge viewers, but the latest trailer offers up plenty of intrigue to at least pique fans' curiosity.
The CW today releases the first major three-minute trailer for the series (creepily scored by Nine Inch Nails), which gives a clearer picture of the over-arching mystery of how Gellar's Bridget comes to adopt the identity of her twin sister Siobahn (pronounced "sheh-von" for the laymen), and the deeper mystery it unravels.
The more nerdly fans will also gain a better understanding of how Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four)'s and Nestor Carbonell (Lost, The Dark Knight)'s ring into the plot, the former as Siobahn's companion in a loveless arrangement and Carbonell as and...

But when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him at his small practice in Bluebell, Alabama. Zoe arrives in this small Gulf Coast town only to find that Harley has passed away and left his half of the medical practice to her in his will. She quickly finds that Southern hospitality isn’t always so hospitable – the other doctor in town, Brick Breeland, is less than pleased to be sharing the practice with this young outsider, and his daughter, Lemon, is a Southern belle whose sweet disposition turns sour when she meets Zoe.

The CW has released the first promo trailer and a couple of teaser clips for Sarah Michelle Gellar's new series The Ringer. This looks like it could be a decent show, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Other than Smallville and Buffy the Vampire Slayer I never really watched any other shows on The CW. But, I'll give The Ringer a chance.

Good gravy, Sarah Michelle Gellar looks just as beautiful as returning to TV eight years after Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired its series finale. And for those anxiously awaiting a look at her glorious return in The CW's Ringer, your time has come.
With The CW among the last of the networks to reveal their Fall roster of programming, we've finally gotten our first look at Sarah Michelle Gellar's return to the network that made her famous (The CW having grown out of both The WB and Upn) in the first trailer for mistaken-identity thriller Ringer! But more than just a trailer, how about two clips as well?
It may not have the supernatural bent we've come to identify Sarah Michelle Gellar with, but we're keeping eyes and ears open for Ringer's mystery premise, and of course our love of the lady herself, here allowed the rare opportunity to act opposite herself.

I had the pleasure of attending the premiere for Medium Raw last night and really enjoyed the flick. I’ll be honest, it has a few corny moments but it’s the villains in this piece that make it so worthwhile.
