Heralding from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the group consisted of songwriter-producer Ethan Kath and singer-songwriter Alice Glass; however, Glass left the band in 2014 and was replaced by singer Edith Frances.

Retro gaming is huge right now. Huge. And it’s only getting bigger… From the like of fan favourites multiplatform consoles like Retron 5 and fab handhelds like the Supaboy S; to the Nes Mini/Classic, an official re-release of Nintendo’s classic console – which only brought retro gaming further into the mainstream (as the constant sold out status will atest), it seems if games are retro, they’re hot property. Which is where At Games’ Atari Flashback Classics come in.
At Games have taken their retro console the Atari Flashback, now in it’s seventh incarnation, and moved the experience to current-gen consoles; and their success depends entirely on your enjoyment of the old-school – and in the case of 2600 games, basic – games of yesteryear… Entirely…

Whenever a collection of classic games is released, I always find myself picking it up. Despite not usually having nostalgia for these retro packages (as my first console was the Genesis), I love learning more about the medium that I love, and it’s typically a good way to experience games that I missed out on. Typically this experience is hit-or-miss as for every one game I end up loving, there are usually a handful of titles that are only interesting to look at through a historical lens.
The latest retro video game collection comes in the form of Atari Flashback Classics Volume 2. This $20 package features 50 games in total, with 9 being arcade games, and 41 Atari 2600-era titles. Since the games are the main reason why anyone would pick this up, and there are way too many of them to touch on individually, here’s the full list of arcade titles: Asteroids,...

At long last, the specific release details of Crystal Castles‘ debut album have arrived. The duo’s first studio album since Edith Frances replaced Alice Glass as vocalist will be titled Amnesty and will come out through Casablanca Records on August 19th.
In addition, Crystal Castles have revealed another song from the effort titled “Char.” The arrangement leans more heavily on nostalgic synth work than it does on Frances’ breathy vocals compared to recent songs like “Concrete,” but yields just as compelling results.
Speaking of “Concrete,” the duo released the official music video of the track in conjunction with the announcement of a world tour whose dates would pick up right where their current one leaves off. Being that they will have two UK performances left on their current tour following the release of Amnesty, the songs will have ample time to bounce around the blogosphere before they come back to the States.

The best things come in pairs, and Crystal Castles appear to recognize this. Earlier in the year the duo announced that they would make a comeback with Edith Frances replacing Alice Glass as vocalist, and now they’ve revealed the music video for the first single from their upcoming album alongside the dates of a three-month world tour.
The official music video for “Concrete” pairs the song’s primal vocals and foreboding synth melodies with subversive images of Frances mouthing the words while stumbling backwards through a crowded venue. The sound is not a significant departure from what Crystal Castles has put out in recent years, but it’s certainly different from the blog house tracks that put them on the map in the late aughts.
The last tour dates announced by the duo will wrap up with a performance at Reading & Leeds Festival in England on August 27th, and...

It wasn’t all that long ago that Crystal Castles fans feared that the departure of vocalist Alice Glass would signal the demise of the group. A year in the electronic music world is a long time, though, and now that such an interval has elapsed since her replacement arrived in the form of Edith Frances, the group is ready to announce a new album and tour dates.
Crystal Castles’ fourth studio-length album will arrive sometime in the spring. If it follows the pattern established by the group’s first three albums, then it will be titled IV – but without Glass in the picture, they might find it more tasteful to make a departure from the trend.
In addition, group founder Ethan Kath has revealed tour dates straddling the spring and summer months at locations throughout North America and Europe.

Last night, the Go Hard tour touched down in Toronto at Td Echo Beach, presented by Live Nation in association with Hard. The roster featured a diverse lineup of artists and the city had the pleasure of witnessing sets by Eric Prydz, Dillon Francis, Destructo and many more. While the weekend’s weather included intermittent rainstorms, it gave festival-goers even more reason to “go hard.” The wet conditions brought out flocks of ponchos and makeshift umbrellas, but it didn’t stop anyone from enjoying the music.
The day began with opening sets by Ethan Kath of Crystal Castles, Cosella and TOKiMONSTA – all of whom put on a show that warmed up the crowd and provided the soundtrack to some sand and puddle grooving.
Next up was Big Gigantic, who proved to be one of the crowd favourites of the evening. They threw down live renditions of tracks like DJ Snake vs.

After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January of this year, Atari Us has been attempting to sell its assets. By doing this, it hopes to separate itself from its French parent company Atari S.A., formally Infogrames, to gain independent capital and to raise a bit of cash to further pursue its current avenue of creating mobile games and digital licensing. As nobody came forward to purchase their game assets outright, setting the price of the Atari brand at $15 million, the company has decided to begin selling off its IPs individually.
What this basically means is that if you find yourself with $3.5 million burning a whole in your pocket, you could buy the rights to Rollercoaster Tycoon. The company has also priced the Test Drive name at $1.5 million, and Total Annihilation at $250k. Also, and most importantly, you can buy the iconic “Mt. Fuji” logo that has featured on...

R-Patz hit up the grocery store solo on April 26 before heading back to Kristen’s house. Was the actor planning on whipping up something special for the love of this life?
Robert Pattinson will do anything for love — he might even make a grocery run for Kristen Stewart. The Twilight star was spotted in Los Feliz, Calif. on April 26 making a quick stop at a grocery store and then heading back to K-Stew’s. That’s devotion!
Robert Pattinson Feels At Home With Kristen Stewart
Rob was looking particularly fit in dark jeans and a matching black t-shirt on his errand run, but most of all he looked comfy. Though HollywoodLife.com reported Exclusively at the beginning of April that Rob wasn’t ready to buy a house with Kristen, he’s definitely made himself at home at her place.

It's another huge year for the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. After taking 2012 off so it didn't compete with the Summer Olympics, Glastonbury is back with a loaded lineup. With over 200 bands on 11 stages, the three-day festival, running June 28-30, has something for just about everyone.
As usual, festival organizers have lined up huge names to headline the main stage each night. On Friday, Arctic Monkeys will close out the night. The next day The Rolling Stones will take the stage. Finally, Sunday night, Mumford & Sons will end the festival.
The Rolling Stones will be making their Glastonbury Festival debut, as they celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band. The Stones have played a small number of concerts marking the milestone, since last summer. In a statement on their official website, guitarist Keith Richards says, "We all had such a ball last year, and the energy between the band is so good.

If you ever needed evidence of the diversity in Canadian music – or the fact that the Junos can be a bit of an Oprah “You get a car! You get a car! You get a car!” love-in – you couldn't do better than the Juno Fan Choice category, which bundles together Drake, Carly Rae Jepsen, Metric, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, Leonard Cohen, Marianas Trench, Michael Buble, Nickelback and Hedley.
But let’s be less cynical and instead appreciate an award show that dares break down to a metaphorical cage match between Leonard Cohen and Rush against Carly Rae and Bieber.
That said, both legendary oldsters got shut out of the album of the year prize, despite Cohen's number one debut for "Old Ideas." Instead, the Junos' top category comes off more like six degrees of "Call Me Maybe" with hat tips for Carly Rae Jepsen's "Kiss," her hit song's co-songwriter Josh Ramsay's emo-rock outfit,...

For No Good Reason – Ralph Steadman and Johnny Depp in Ralph’s Studio, Kent, UK. Photographer: Charlie Paul
Sony Pictures Classics announced today that they have acquired all North American rights to Charlie Paul’s directorial debut, For No Good Reason from Itch Film. Foreign sales are being handled by Independent Film Sales. Charlie Paul, who has been a director in advertising for years and is a former artist himself, spent 10 years making For No Good Reason. Produced by Itch Film’s co-founder Lucy Paul, the intimate documentary portrait focuses on Ralph Steadman and features Johnny Depp observing Steadman’s fascinating working process at his home studio.
Ralph Steadman is most frequently celebrated for his brilliant illustrations accompanying the writings of Hunter S Thompson, and their collaborations defined the Gonzo school of journalism that emerged to pick at the scabs of the American establishment during the turbulent eras of Vietnam and Nixon.

With a new expanded two-weekend format, a massive new main stage structure, and a big 15th anniversary to celebrate, it was obvious Ultra Music Festival would be going big for 2013.
Instead, it went massive. The just-released Phase 2 lineup reveals Ultra will host its most diverse and thorough lineup yet this March in Miami's Bayfront Park: crowd faves like Laidback Luke, Afrojack, Calvin Harris, and Dirty South are back, but the lineup also includes a slew of live acts including Snoop Dogg and Sleigh Bells.
"What we've achieved with this edition's ocean of talent and stage production is we feel unprecedented," said Ultra founder, CEO and president Russell Faibisch. "As the industry we work in continues to explode, with so much talent emerging and the taste of our consumer changing in the process, diversity was key."

"Mama" isn't exactly the type of movie we're used to seeing Golden Globe winner Jessica Chastain in. Then again, the Jessica Chastain we see in "Mama" is what we're used to either.
For the horror movie from executive producer Guillermo del Toro, Chastain slipped into an entirely new persona, donning a short black wig and covering her arms in tattoos.
When MTV News spoke with Chastain about the look, she walked us through the development of her character, Annabel, and the real-life inspiration for her signature style.
While Annabel may only be a wannabe punk, Chastain and her director, Andy Muschietti, found inspiration in Crystal Castles lead singer Alice Glass.
"It's on the page that Annabel plays punk, and she plays bass in a punk band. She's not like Lisbeth Salander. She's not hardcore, full-on. She's like the girl who went to community college, hangs out with her friends, loves punk music,...

This Ides of March, the only thing getting assassinated is millions of festivalgoers' eardrums at the now extended Ultra Music Festival in Miami's Bayfront Park.
Organizers are doubling down on the pleasure and fun, hosting not one but two weekends of Edm. But can the music fest possibly top last year's Skrillex set, Madonna's "Molly" debacle, and throwback performances by Kraftwork and New Order?
Time to break out the glow necklaces and shutter shades, and find out. Ultra's phase one lineup has been released for 2013, announcing 13 DJs and 13 live acts in addition to the previously announced DeadMaud5 and Swedish House Mafia, who will play both weekends as part of their farewell performance.
Watch the video tease above.
There's already plenty of untz-untz buzz that acts like Major Lazer, Crystal Castles, and Hot Chip are saddling up besides the standard set of mainstay performers that includes Tiesto and David Guetta.

The Ultra Music Festival not only expanded into a two-weekend festival -- like Coachella -- but has announced a mega-lineup of some of the biggest names in dance music. Leading the charge for the 15th annual bash is David Guetta, Deadmau5 and the last-ever performance from Swedish House Mafia. Ultra runs March 15-17 (messing up all your SXSW plans) as well as over March 22-24 at Miami's Bayfront Park. Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Avicii, Major Lazer, and "live" acts Hot Chip, Crystal Castles, Yeasayer, Knife Party, and Matt and Kim are also on hand, for both weekends. Crystal Castles have criticised Katy Perry and other mainstream acts who "sell sex to children". The electronic band's frontwoman Alice Glass told NME that Perry's sexualised marketing to young people is "evil". "I think a lot of kids are more sexualised now than they were years ago and I'm not sure it's a coincidence," Glass said. "Like f**king Katy Perry spraying people with her f**king d**k, her f**king c*m gun c*mming on f**king children. "And little girls, like, 6-year-old girls wearing a shirt with 'I wanna see your [pea] cock' on it." She added: "It's f**king evil. Don't prey on vulnerable people like (more)...

Okay then boys and girls, lets get the background info out the way first before we start reviewing, just so you know who Inner Blast is and what they’re about. Inner Blast are a Gothic Metal band originating from Portugal to where some members started playing in a group from 2006 and current members have been playing since 2010. Their strengths are said to be the in the sound of balanced instruments with overlapping melodic softness from the female vocals and keyboard (I couldn’t describe it better myself). Their mini album (Sleepless Monster) comprises of 5 tracks which include Better Days, Sleepless Monster, Tears, Fixation and Open Minds which was officially released in December 2011, but its not too late to discuss it now right?
