Being inspired by counterparts from the West is not a new thing for Bollywood actors, especially the ones who are just starting off their career. Moreover, when due credit is being given, it is more of a homage coming into play. This is what’s happening to Vega Tamotia as well who has picked style tips from none less than Cameron Diaz for her leading lady act in Amit Sahni Ki List.
Informs our source, “Those who are familiar with Cameron Diaz’s work would be aware of the fact that she creates her own style. She doesn’t necessarily follows trends and at times even comes across as a non-conformist. So she would find her wearing a designer dress with a cheap bracelet and still that would look amazing on her. Now that was the essence of styling that was required for Vega’s character in the film as well.

Here are 13 films – 10 already released, 3 from the festival circuit – that you should have seen in 2012. It’s still not too late!
Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid (dir. Nila Madhab Panda)
It’s a massive shame that Nila Madhab Panda’s film didn’t get as much attention as his I Am Kalam, and also a shame that the film was released to DVD without English subtitles. Because Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid, like I Am Kalam, weaves an issue into a story about, and for, children and families, and the message it carries (about the value of women and...

Vega made a big impact as a student in the title role of Saroja in Kollywood last year and was immediately snapped up for her first Bollywood break in the movie Aamras, where she plays the part of a schoolteacher. Was she happy with the outcome? "Yes. Very much so," she confirms, "Aamras is a small film with a comfortable mix of newcomers and established actresses like Reema Lagoo and Zarina Wahab. The film has been directed by Rupali Guha, daughter of veteran filmmaker Basu Chatterjee. And it's doing better than what we expected. Like my first Tamil film, my debut Hindi film has also done well."
