Section to open with Pep Gatell’s documentary about leading restaurant Mugaritz.
The San Sebastian Film Festival (Sept 18-26) has unveiled the 17 titles that will make up its Culinary Zinema strand - seven of which will be accompanied by themed dinners by chefs of “international prestige”.
The section will open with Pep Gatell’s documentary, Off-Road. Mugaritz, Feeling A Way, about the San Sebastian restaurant that is regarded as one of the best in the world.
The strand will close with Cooking Up A Tribute, in which the team from El Celler de Can Roca close their doors for five weeks to travel across Mexico, Peru and Colombia, personally reinterpreting their ingredients and traditions. The doc is co-directed by Luis González and Andrea Gómez.
The films are two of nine titles that will play in competition, which also include:

James Napier Robertson’s acclaimed New Zealand drama picked up a couple of honours as the 2015 Seattle International Film Festival came to a close.
The 25-day festival kicked off on May 14 and featured 450 films representing 92 countries and featured 49 world premieres.

Organisers at the Seattle International Film Festival (Siff) announced the complete line-up of 450 films from 92 countries on Wednesday. The festival runs from May 14-June 7.
The Overnight starring Jason Schwartzman will close the event and as previously announced Spy (pictured) with Melissa McCartney will kick off proceedings. Kevin Bacon will receive career achievement in acting award.
“This year’s festival is bigger and more international than ever, with a record 92 countries represented,” said Siff artistic director Carl Spence. “Adding to our diverse international line-up is our new programme, Culinary Cinema, which features 11 fantastic new films.
“And I’m particularly excited to welcome Kevin Bacon as this year’s Tribute Guest – Siff will now be only one-degree of separation away!”

Culinary documentary to receive world premiere at Berlin next month.
Fortissimo Films has acquired worldwide rights (excluding Benelux) to culinary documentary feature Sergio Herman, Fucking Perfect, which will receive its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 5-15).
Fortissimo has previously served up food-related docs at Berlin including Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Food Inc. and Super Size Me.
The new film, directed by Willemiek Kluijfhout, centres on master chef Sergio Herman, who decides to let go of his three-star restaurant Oud Sluis in order to fulfill his dreams.
It is produced by Amsterdam-based Reinette van de Stadt through her documentary production company Trueworks. Kluijfhout’s previous film, Mussels in Love, was the opening film of Berlin’s Culinary Cinema strand in 2013.

The 26th Helsinki International Film Festival (Sep 19-29) is to open with Cannes Palme d’Or winner Adele: Chapters 1 & 2 (La Vie d’Adèle: Chapitre 1 & 2).
Directed by Abdellatif Kechiche, it is a love story between two young women.
This year the festival showcases a record number of films, comprising 160 features and a short film series.
