Julian Langdon is an award-winning Australian composer who writes music
for film, television, games and the concert stage. His diverse and
evocative scores span a vast range of musical style and context and
feature an array of soloists, bands, orchestras, choirs, electronic
soundscapes, recorded objects and acoustic manipulations. His work has
been featured internationally in advertising campaigns, broadcast
television, film festivals, cinemas, showcase events and concert halls.
Julian studied classical composition and orchestral film scoring, however his music explores a range of styles including pop, jazz, world, rock, retro, electronic, hybrid cinematic and the peculiar.
As a keen collaborator, Julian has worked with production companies, agencies, independent filmmakers and game developers to produce highly evocative material and has received much acclaim for his relentless pursuits. In 2007 Julian was recognized by the City of Melbourne for his compositions and was awarded the first Melbourne Prize for Music Development Award.
As a concert composer, Julian has worked with some of Australia's greatest ensembles including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, and the Australian Ballet.
Julian continues orchestral and small ensemble commissions for a variety of forces and in 2012 was approached my the MSO and the TSO to compose a new work to celebrate the "Spectacular Return" of the the MSO into the redeveloped Hamer Hall in Melbourne, Australia.
