“Stranger Things 2” returns just in time for Halloween, both in the real world and in the eerie town of Hawkins, Indiana conceived in the nostalgic minds of The Duffer Brothers. The action picks up three days before Halloween 1984, which means that the year will soon be coming to a close. For those who may not have been alive or perhaps have a shaky memory of the time, 1984 was a big year for memorable events and in pop culture.
The first season reveled in bringing the time period alive in all of its totally ‘80s glory, from Dungeons & Dragons gaming sessions and Eggo waffles to homages to “E.T.,” “The Shining,” and “Rambo.” Hell, even star Winona Ryder’s presence is a timely tribute since she made her early career in such iconic ‘80s films as “Lucas,” “Beetlejuice,” and “Heathers.”

Randy Travis is one determined country singer ... he's filed yet another lawsuit, gunning for the Texas officials who want to release a video of his Dwi arrest. Travis was arrested in 2012 for a Dwi in Texas ... he had crashed his Trans Am and tried to walk naked into a convenience store after the crash. Randy cursed the arresting officers, wishing they got cancer. He also threatened to shoot one with 60 rounds and bury him under a barn.

Mustachioed silver screen legend Burt Reynolds keeps unloading his memorabilia. The movie star is auctioning off his very own 1978 Pro-Touring Firebird Trans-Am. It’s the actor’s signature car — just like the one he drove in the late 1970s and early ’80s “Smokey and the Bandit” series. Also Read: Burt Reynolds Lays Down the Law in New 'Pocket Listing' Clip (Exclusive Video) In case you’re getting your “Bandit” Trans-Ams mixed up, this one is different than the 1977 black Pontiac Trans Am Coupe that the actor put up for auction in 2014 — which eventually sold for $500,000. He also auctioned off another Trans-Am last year.

From Truman Capote’s ashes to Lady Gaga‘s fingernail, review the oddest celebrity auction items: Truman Capote’s cremated remains were bought for nearly $44,000 in late September, 2016. Lady Gaga‘s faux fingernail sold for a reported $12,000 in 2013. When he was still a member of ‘N Sync, Justin Timberlake‘s leftover French toast (not pictured) fetched $1,025. Perhaps more cool than weird, Burt Reynolds auctioned off his Pontiac Trans Am Coupe from the 1977 action hit “Smokey and the Bandit” for a world record-breaking $550,000 in the spring of 2016. There’s something freeing in knowing that you won’t have to feel conflicted about reviewing something, in this case Dead of Summer. Sure, I’ll probably find a few enjoyable morsels here and there about this show but overall, these recaps are just going to be one big roast. Episode 2 recap begins below, and it’s a doozy. You can watch along on Hulu or on the official Freeform website, if you’re feeling masochistic.
First, let me just say that this episode title is the kind of pseudo-Stephen King nonsense I was hoping this series wouldn’t devolve into. The unending parade of pop culture references of the first episode should’ve raised red flags all over the place and naming the first episode after a GnR track was precocious enough but This is out of hand.
Anyway, the episode starts with a flashback, as usual, dating...

In the mid-1980s, one of the hot topics in the school yard was which car was better, the Dukes of Hazard’s General Lee or Knight Rider’s Kitt. To just about any kid growing up in the 80s, Kitt was the clear winner considering it boasted turbo boosts, ejector seats, a bulletproof body, and a super-sophisticated artificial intelligence that could control the car without needing a driver behind the wheel. And that artificial intelligence, voiced by William Daniels, was just as charismatic as costar David Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight, the infamous “man who does not exist.” The show is cheesy – as most shows from the 80s are – but brilliant all...

All that Glitters: Barney’s Operatic, Caterwauling Art-house Epic
Those familiar with the work of Matthew Barney, namely his impressive Cremaster Cycle (2003) and Drawing Restraint 9 (2005), either appreciate his artistic ambition to collapse, discombobulate, and erase the distinction of form, or discount his credibility (an appraisal that can be attributed to most provocative artists). His filmic language generally consists of a grand mixture of anthropomorphic fascination, formal cinematic composition, musically discordant fascination with opera, and a kind of live performance art/sculpture exhibit, amongst others. Sprawling, decadent, and enigmatic, fans and critics vacillate between lobbing appellations that range from ‘pretentious,’ to ‘genius,’ and he’s been referred to as one of the most important artists of his generation.
Whatever your opinion of his work, one cannot overlook the sheer audaciousness of his latest long-gestating hybrid, River of Fundament, a seven year project that kinda, sorta, maybe is the most interesting...

The iconic television writer, creator, and producer Glen A. Larson passed away Friday, November 14, at the age of 77.
Larson was perhaps best known for creating some of the most iconic TV shows of the 1970s and '80s including Alias Smith and Jones, McCloud, Buck Rogers In The 25th Century, B.J. And The Bear, Trauma Center, Quincy M.E., Manimal, The Fall Guy, and Magnum P.I..
However, two of Larson's most lasting creations are still cultural touchstones to this day. In 1982, Larson introduced Kitt, the artificially intelligent car, and David Hasselhoff's Michael Knight to American audiences with Knight Rider, and it quickly became one of the biggest TV hits of its day.
Photos: Stars We've Lost In Recent Years
Four years prior, Larson created a show that would, much later, become a hugely celebrated franchise. In 1978, Larson brought the cult classic sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica to TVs across the country.

Justin Bieber will be the voice of talking car Kitt from the 80s classic Knight Rider for David Hasselhoff’s upcoming comedy. Australian comedian and co-star Jim Jerffries confirmed both Bieber’s role and that Kitt will still be the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am we all remember.
"Justin Bieber is the voice of Kitt in this movie - you can't say that every day," Jeffries said.
However, this is not a Knight Rider sequel or reboot. Instead, the film is a comedy called Killing Hasselhoff, in which a man attempts to win a bet by hiring an assassin to kill The Hoff.
Bieber is taking over the role from Kitt’s original voice actor, William Daniels (who millennials will recognize as Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World). Daniels, who turned 87 this year, last voiced Kitt for Hasselhoff’s Comedy Central Roast in 2010.

While rumors have swirled about a Knight Rider movie for about a year now, it is apparently one step closer to fruition.
Rumor has it that Chris Pratt and Danny McBride are circling the film, which focuses on a high-tech crime fighter and his talking car. Oh Ke$ha, you really are one of a kind. The singer appeared on "Conan" Wednesday (October 16) and decided to talk about the kinds of things she's into, both on stage and off.

The release of Ron Howard’s Rush, one of the most anticipated (not to say mega-hyped) films of the year, inevitably begs comparisons to some of the great car-themed movies of the past.

It seems that automobiles have played key roles in films of every genre, from drama to horror to comedy to documentary. In some, like American Graffiti, Rebel without a Cause, and Bonnie and Clyde, the vehicles primarily help set the tone of the era in which the stories are set. In other films the cars themselves are the story. The animated Cars comes to mind, along with the Love Bug series, Christine, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. And then there are films in which the cars have taken their place alongside the human stars as film icons in their own right. James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5, for instance, as...

*full disclosure: a Blu-ray copy of this film was provided by Well Go USA. Director: K. King. Writers: K. King and Kurt Knight. Cast: Martin Copping, Danny Trejo and Clare Niederpruem. There are just so many zombie films out there. So, new films entering the genre really need to stand out to get attention. K. King's first film as director does not really come across as showy. Instead, Zombie Hunter is a low budget affair that offers a laugh here or there, but the film's campiness removes any real tension. The film comes across as very awkward and artificial. Zombie Hunter might find a small audience; but, this film watcher felt it was more of a disappointment. The film begins with the character known as Hunter (Martin Copping). Hunter is alone in a zombie apocalypse and he has outfitted himself a la Mad Max. His V8 Interceptor is more Trans Am,...

Nashville, Tenn. — Country music singer Randy Travis was in critical condition Monday night at a Texas hospital, a day after he was hospitalized for heart problems.
A news release from the singer's publicist says the 54-year-old Travis was admitted to the hospital Sunday in Dallas and was in critical condition Monday evening.
Travis was being treated for viral cardiomyopathy (kahr-dee-oh-my-op-uh-thee), a heart condition caused by a virus, according to his publicist, Kirt Webster.
The Mayo Clinic website says the disease weakens and enlarges the heart muscle, making it harder for the heart to pump blood and carry it to the rest of the body. It can lead to heart failure. Treatments range from medications and surgically implanted devices to heart transplants.
The illness is a continuation of a tough run for Travis after a handful of recent high-profile appearances, including a performance during the Country Music Association Festival's nightly concert...

Randy Travis has been hospitalized after suffering from heart complications stemming from viral cardiomyopathy, according to his rep.
TMZ is reporting that the 54-year-old country singer was admitted to a hospital in Texas yesterday (July 7) and is currently in critical condition.
In a statement to the Dallas Morning News, his PR firm says, “The Grammy winner is suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy. Travis was admitted into the medical facility yesterday."
According to the Mayo Clinic, cardiomyopathy is a "disease that weakens and enlarges your heart muscle" and can lead to heart failure.
Travis was recently nominated for a 2013 Cmt Award for his collaboration with The Avett Brothers on "Three Wooden Crosses." He is also known for his singles "Forever and Ever, Amen," and "Honky Tonk Moon."

Hollywood has been trying to get a feature film adaptation of Knight Rider made for years, and they are now one step closer to getting it made. The Weinstein Co. has hired filmmaker Brad Copeland to write a draft of the script. Copeland is known for working on projects such as Wild Hogs, Arrested Development, and Grounded For Life. The news comes from the La Times, which explains,
The new Knight Rider is being conceived as a somewhat higher-budget, more action-oriented movie than Weinstein's typical prestige fare. The company bought the rights from Glen Larson, the prolific creator of many a TV action series, including the hit NBC show about Michael Knight and his flying Trans Am. David Hasselhoff, who of course played Knight in the original "Knight Rider," has been making noise about wanting to be a part of the new movie.

The Weinstein Company has brought on comedy writer Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs, Arrested Development) to write a draft of the script for Knight Rider, based on the 1980s TV show.
According to the La Times, the new film is being conceived as a somewhat higher-budget – the focus will be on the action, which is somewhat unusual for a Weinstein production, but that’s where this is headed. The company purchased the rights from Glen Larson, the creator of the series, including the hit NBC show about Michael Knight and his flying Trans Am. There’s no word on whether David Hasselhoff will return, but word around the web is that he wants to be a part of the new movie.
Copeland has also been attached to the reboot of Gilligans Island. His first film, Coffee Town, will debut next month.

We’ve been threatened promised a cinematic take on cult ‘80s telly drama Knight Rider for years now. Original star David Hasselhoff has been talking about it for a decade and there was more chatter back in 2006 when The Weinstein Company bought the rights. But since 2008’s short-lived TV reboot, we’ve heard little. That changed today when a source whispered to the La Times that Brad Copeland is writing a new draft of the script.Knight Rider, of course, saw the Hoff hassling criminals with the help of the Knight Industries Two Thousand, or K.I.T.T, a powerful Pontiac Trans Am with a sarcastic central intelligence (voiced by William Daniels) and all manner of special features including Turbo Boost and bulletproof armour.TWC wants the film version to be a souped-up, high-octane affair with bigger stunts and even more gadgets than the original show could achieve given...

Ke$ha somehow always finds a way to outdo herself.
The urine-drinking, cannoli-fellating, beard-licking pop star just took it a step further, speaking to Q Magazine about the inspiration behind one of her latest singles, "Gold Trans Am."
"It began as a song about my car, which is a gold Trans Am, and it works about 40 percent of the time," Ke$ha told Q Magazine. "I don't have another car because I love that one so much. But then like all great pop, it became a metaphor for something else -- my p---y."
"My vagina is in tip-top working order," she continued. "Valeted and souped-up and working 100 percent of the time."
Lest she stop there, Ke$ha went on to explain that she gets help on songs like "Gold Trans Am" from none other than her mom. "We write songs about boys and sex together," she said. “That may not...

Later this week, country music star Randy Travis is expected to enter a guilty plea in a drunk driving case in Texas. Travis was arrested after crashing his Trans Am, intoxicated and completely naked at the time of the accident. That was Travis' second run-in with the law that involved alcohol in 2012. In February, he was arrested for public intoxication.
Now the AP is reporting that Travis will appear in court Thursday, Jan. 31 in Sherman, Texas, where it is expected he will plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge that could land him up to two years in jail and a $4,000 fine.
His attorney says Travis is "looking forward to putting this behind him and moving on." He also says that Travis has stopped drinking.

Diamond Joe is going deep. The Onion, the satirical newspaper that has skewered American politics for over two decades, will release The President of Vice, a fake autobiography -- fauxtobiography? -- "written" by Vice President Joe Biden. The veep has become one of The Onion's favorite targets over the past four years, with the publication stretching his friendly personality into a blue-collar Trans Am-driving, Southern rock-loving whirlwind of a party animal who focuses more on hitting on women than passing legislation. The book will be published digitally as a Kindle single, just in time for the real Biden to

David Letterman doesn’t totally get the point of voting early, but Vice President Joe Biden disagrees. Last night, he set aside fervent campaigning and his Trans Am for a few minutes in order to read the “Top 10 Good Things About Voting Early” on Letterman’s show. The takeaway: Early voters get all the perks. Free cheeseburgers! An open bar! Five million bucks from Donald Trump! Why aren’t you voting early right now?!
Anyone else think that Biden could have been a pretty decent comedian if the whole “politics” thing hadn’t worked out?

The bottom line of releasing any TV show on DVD, no matter the show, is to make money. At this point in the format’s history, a majority of shows that found any measure of success on the tube, might it be cult classics of massive hits, have already received the lavish treatment of a complete digital overhaul and packaging. Yet some shows that boast the same level of quality if not higher remain overlooked blips on the landscape, televised moments that went by too fast for a proper following to be formed. In other words, no one requests those shows loud enough for studios, networks or distributors to care in any way.
Granted some of them did pop-up on the odd VHS compilations or the bootleg DVD market. Some even did appear on official DVD release but in too limited a fashion to be properly re-discovered. But a proper,...

Artist Denis Medri has created this insanely cool series of art that re-imagines several Star Wars characters as 1980s high school teens. It's like these characters came right out of a John Hughes movie. I love all of these designs, the characters were captured perfectly, but I think Han and Chewie are my favorite.
Medri is the same artist who brought us Steampunk Spider-Man and Batman Rockabilly. I think this latest series is his best so far, and now I would love to see some kind of John Hughes style Star Wars movie parody. I know it will never happen, but after looking at this art I think it would be amazing!
Look over all of the art and tell us what your favorite character design is!

The 911 caller who reported finding Randy Travis after an apparent accident in Texas on Tuesday (Aug. 7) didn't realize the "white male" with "light brown hair" he was describing the Grammy-winning country music singer.
"I just found a guy laying in the road," the caller tells the dispatcher. "I want to say he had no shirt on."
The caller adds that he saw no vehicle around Travis, though he could make out what he thought was headlights in a bush up the road. Travis had apparently run his Pontiac Trans Am off the road and into a barricade. TMZ reports that after he was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, he threatened to "shoot and kill officers working the case." In the mug shot snapped afterward, Travis is sporting a black eye and cuts he reportedly sustained from the accident.

Randy Travis Threatens Texas Troopers, Gaga Gets Fuzzy Inspiration, Madonna Angers Russian Officials
Today's Hollywood Headlines
Country crooner Randy Travis was arrested for driving under the influence on Tuesday, and the more details that emerge about the story, the odder it gets. Travis was reportedly found naked in the road with his 1998 Pontiac Trans Am damaged and off the road nearby. He also made threats against Texas state troopers who responded to a 911 call from a passerby. These details bring up all sorts of questions. Was he naked when he got in the car? Did he take his clothes off after the assumed car crash? Why does he drive a '98 Trans Am? Hopefully some of these questions will be answered in the coming weeks.
