"Do we have any debris close to our trajectory?" Another excellent short film from Australian filmmaker Josh Tanner - who has been entertaining us with top notch shorts, like The Landing and The Rizzle, for years. His latest is called Decommissioned, and it's a space sci-fi horror based on a true story. In 2006, an old Russian spacesuit was decommissioned and turned into a satellite launched into orbit called SuitSat. This really happened. Tanner then takes that and imagines what might happen... next. And it's freaky. His short stars Joey Vieira as Commander Diaz aboard the International Space Station, who encounters the mysterious SuitSat. With David Normand as the voice of "Houston". Watching this I couldn't even figure out how the heck he made this, I'm entirely impressed. And it's a genuine thrill to watch, it looks great and feels real in every way. This fantastic sci-fi short packs a punch in only 6 minutes.

"Lay down your weapons. It is futile." Another creepy new horror short to feature this week just in time for Halloween. Wandering Soul is the latest short film made by filmmaker Josh Tanner, based in Australia, along with writer/producer Jade van der Lei. The same team that made the other very successful short films The Landing and The Rizzle and Reverse (from last year). Their new one is a Vietnam War set supernatural horror that is inspired by creepy, true events. Starring Lap Phan, Henry Vo, and Cuong Nguyen. This short relies heavily on intricate sound design and intensely creepy atmospherics to unsettle you. Tanner's shorts are always on a whole other level when it comes to quality and execution, and this one is just as good. Thanks to Josh for the tip on this debut. "Check surroundings for safety." One more horror short to keep you all freaked out every night. Reverse is another horror short film by Australian filmmaker Josh Tanner, and writer/producer Jade van der Lei. The two also just made and released the horror short The Rizzle earlier this October, which was part of Hulu's Huluween Film Fest competition. This short has an entirely different concept, about a guy trying to leave an underground car park, but something doesn't want him to leave there. Starring Joel Stanton and Connor Clarke. They wanted to try and make a film utilizing the ever-evolving technology in cars to create tension and scares. Featuring cinematography by Kieran Fowler, with music composed by Stevan Markovic. Enjoy. Thanks to Josh (again) for the tip on this one. Original description from Vimeo: "A man attempts to exit an underground car park. Something doesn't want him to.

I know Halloween is over, but that doesn’t mean I have to stop sharing short horror films with you! Lets keep the Halloween spirit alive!
Today’s horror short is called Reverse and it comes to us from director Josh Tanner. The story centers on a man who attempts to exit an underground parking lot, but as you’ll see something doesn’t want him to leave. I don’t know what this guy did to piss off this ghost so much, but the Ghost is out to get him!
The short has a simple premise but it’s impressively executed. It manages to build the creepy tension and deliver some scares. The cinematography is also especially good.
Watch the short film below and let us know what you think!

"Try The Rizzle if you dare..." Hulu has launched a fun new competition called the Huluween Film Fest, featuring 8 horror shorts made by up-and-coming filmmakers. One of those shorts is this one - The Rizzle, made by Australian filmmaker Josh Tanner. The film is about a young woman who loves the roaring 20s. One night while watching videos on YouTube, she comes across a video for the dance routine called "The Rizzle" that she's never seen before. Starring Holly Rooth and Steven Bishop. Now that we're in October again, we're featuring new horror short films to get everyone, and keep everyone, in the horror movie mood throughout this month. This short is fun - I like the twist on The Ring concept and the chilling vibe. Enjoy. Thanks to Josh for the tip on this. Description from YouTube: "Elena loves the roaring 1920s. A fondness she'll soon regret." The Rizzle...

I've got an awesome sci-fi short thriller for you all to watch today called "The Landing." The story follows a man who "returns to the Midwestern farm of his childhood on a desperate mission to unearth the horrifying truth of what landed there in the summer of 1960." Most of the film is set in the 1960s and it recounts the story of the man's terrifying experience as a kid. The film was directed by Josh Tanner for Perception Pictures, and it's truly a fantastic and brilliant piece of filmmaking that you have to take the time to watch. ...

The Melbourne Underground Film Festival returns to terrorize Australia with a selection of outrageous genre films for its 11th annual edition that will be held on Aug. 20-28.
For years now, Muff Festival director Richard Wolstencroft has been bemoaning the state of Australian cinema — and rightfully so — for abandoning its history of popular genre entertainment and settling for a state-sponsored industry of wussy indie fare. Well, looking over this year’s Muff schedule from a distance, it appears that the fest has gathered its most impressive lineup of bold and risky genre fare yet.
There’s the deep sea terror of Stuart Simpson’s El monstro del mar!, the outback nightmare of Road Train by Dean Francis, the Bdsm fantasy world of David King’s Purge, the chaotically violent world of Bad Behavior by Joseph Sims, the sexy and disturbing Burlesque by Dominic Deacon; plus Richard Wolstencroft’s own documentary...
