The streamer has ordered 10 episodes of The Corps, a drama that will follows Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer), a bullied gay teen who joins the Marines with his straight best friend, Ray McCaffey (Liam Oh), in 1990 — a pre-Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell era when being gay in the military could mean jail time or worse. The series comes from Sony Pictures Telelvision and Lear’s Sony-based Act III Productions and is inspired by Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine.
Vera Farmiga and Max Parker also star as, respectively, Cameron’s mother and a Marine sergeant who sees himself in Cameron. The cast also includes Cedrick Cooper, Ana Ayora, Angus O’Brien, Dominic Goodman, Kieron Moore, Nicholas Logan, Rico Paris, Blake Burt,...

The made-for-tv movie was a programming staple for the broadcast networks in the 1970s and 1980s. While it fell out of favor in the 1990s and was even dropped as an Emmy Awards category for three years beginning in 2011, it has been on an upswing as of late. This year, 48 telefilms are in contention for the five nominations that will be revealed on July 12; last year, only 41 TV movies were submitted.
All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 27 to cast their 2022 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for their favorite TV movies. In the past, voters were limited in the number of telefilms that they could put forth. In 2017, that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted. And, as opposed to the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally.

After being renewed for a fourth season by Cinemax in February, Banshee has been making the rounds with news of cast additions, such as Chris Coy and Matthew Rauch, who will both be series regulars in the show’s fourth season; Ana Ayora, who has signed on for an extensive Season 4 arc; and Casey Labow, who is set to recur on the series. And, as announced on Monday, joining Labow as a recurring player in Banshee Season 4 will be Eliza Dushku, who is set to play Agent Veronica Dawson, a character described by Deadline as “a tough, sexy and shockingly reckless FBI profiler with no shortage of personal demons who joins forces with Hood to hunt down a killer.” Dushku’s past TV credits include the Joss Whedon-created Fox series Dollhouse (which was cancelled after two seasons), recurring roles on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and the...

Director: Justin Zackham; Screenwriter: Justin Zackham; Starring: Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Robin Williams, Amanda Seyfried, Susan Sarandon; Running time: 89 mins; Certificate: 15
Despite an A-List line-up, The Big Wedding feels small in many ways. One can only assume there was a big fat paycheck involved for the likes of Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon and Diane Keaton to negotiate a script with such lack of ambition, laughs and insight. But then, the runtime does force them to drag out a story that could have been ripped from a sitcom.
The desperation is evident early on when Ellie (Keaton) lets herself into the home of ex-husband Don (De Niro) and is forced to endure the spectacle of his head disappearing up the skirt of his second wife Bebe (Sarandon). To make the situation ickier, it gradually becomes apparent that Bebe was once Ellie's best friend, but they've somehow managed to stay on amicable terms.

Coarse, crude but often cute, "The Big Wedding" serves up the spectacle of its title, and the bigger spectacle of four Aarp-eligible Oscar winners cursing like sailors.
A teasing sex farce littered with f-bombs and c-words, it's the filthiest (sounding) movie of the year -- so far.
Justin Zackham's adaptation of the French comedy "Mon frere se marie" benefits from old pros Diane Keaton and Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, all playing cynics conspiring or blundering into butchering the wedding of poor Missy (Amanda Seyfried) and Alejandro (Ben Barnes).
Let's face it, you don't quote Oscar Wilde to a couple who plan to wed. ("Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence.")
Alejandro's the adopted Colombian son of Don (De Niro) and Ellie (Keaton). Only they're divorced.
Don, a swaggering "little blue helper"-loving sculptor, lives with Bebe (Sarandon), who cheated with him over a decade ago.

In advance of the world premiere of his new slasher flick "Savage County" on MTV2 tonight, October 7, at 11 p.m. (10 p.m. Central), director David Harris has been guest-blogging on MTV News to share some thoughts on making the film. He talked about marketing the movie on Tuesday, offered up some horror-movie-making tips yesterday, and today he introduces the up-and-coming cast (like Ana Ayora, pictured to the right).
