Paramount Pictures released their new horror/thriller movie, "Paranormal Activity 6: The Ghost Dimension," into theaters this weekend, and all the major, top movie critics have turned in their reviews. It looks like hardly any of them liked it with an overall 32 score out of a possible 100 across 7 reviews at the Metacritic.com site. The film stars: Chris J. Murray, Brit Shaw, Ivy George, Dan Gill, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Chloe Csengary, Jessica Tyler Brown and Don McManon. We've posted comments from a couple of the critics, below. Drew McWeeny from Hitfix, gave it a 58 grade, saying: "To the bitter end, the series manages to wring some fun, solid scares out of something other invading something utterly familiar." Andrew Barker from Variety, gave it a terrible 30 score. He stated: "There may well be new and novel ways to spark audience shivers from not-so-bright homeowners inexplicably using their cameraphones to check out bumps in the night,...

This personal admission might reveal my youthfulness, but Paranormal Activity is one of the first movies that kickstarted my horror obsession, leading to a franchise I curiously watched morph with every entry. I’ll defend Paranormal Activity 2, where most people don’t, and alternatively, I saw Paranormal Activity 3 as the franchise’s inevitable decline. While we can all agree that Paranormal Activity 4 is a cut-and-dry piece of dookie, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones brought me back with a screaming vengeance, ready for more door-slamming bravado.
So, moment of truth – does Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension close Blumhouse’s near-iconic franchise with a boisterously enraged bang? Nah, it’s more like a inevitably cluttered whimper that attempts to answer all outstanding questions while simultaneously tying a neat little bow around Toby’s debut appearance.

Who knew you could get this much mileage out of a ghost named Toby? Nine years ago this week, Oren Peli started production on "Paranormal Activity," which was made for $27, a box of Band-Aids, and three plates of ham sandwiches. Truly independent in every way, the film premiered a year later at ScreamFest, and then… didn't come out for two more years. While "Paranormal Activity" is a remarkable success story, it's also not an instant one. Peli had to struggle to get his film from that first screening to a major theatrical release, and there were plenty of fine-tuning that had to be done to get it there. "Paranormal" has many godfathers, and by the time the film came out in 2009, it had been through many hands. The result, though, has been one of the biggest horror franchises in recent memory, and it laid the foundation for Jason Blum's entire horror empire.

Returning to the scene of the original crime, the sixth installment in the Paranormal Activity series is the weakest yet, lacking a compelling reason to exist, beyond a desire to extend the franchise. The previous edition, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014), was a spinoff, heading to a working-class neighborhood in Ventura, California as a new family became plagued by supernatural forces. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is once again set in a spacious suburban home, the one that was previously inhabited by the haunted family whose trials were detailed in the first four films. A new family has moved in, consisting of father Ryan (Chris J. Murray), mother Emily (Brit Shaw), and 8-year-old daughter Leila (Ivy George). Ryan's younger brother Mike (Dan Gill) shows...

Cheap, lazy, and limited by its slavish adherence to the found-footage trope. Bonus: features the most cynical use ever of 3D to boost cinema ticket prices. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): increasingly annoyed by this series
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Why won’t this franchise die? I know, I know: the Paranormal Activity flicks make a lot of money. But why? Each entry in the franchise is duller, unscarier, and drifts further from the found-footage conceit than the last. I look back through my reviews of the series — start here, then go here, here, and here (I managed to avoid last year’s installment) — and behold increasing despair and exasperation. Then double it again for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, which is incredibly dull and insufferably self-conscious about forcing itself into a story that was already tediously overplayed in the previous films.

Meet the Paranormal Activity film that promises to wrap the series up! Here's our review of The Ghost Dimension...
This is a spoiler-free review, which includes plot details from the previous five instalments in the Paranormal Activity series.
Back in 2009, Paramount masterminded a revolutionary marketing campaign for Oren Peli's micro-budget found footage horror movie Paranormal Activity. With endorsements from the likes of Steven Spielberg, it was arguably the most hyped film of its year and certainly the most profitable, returning $193m on a $15,000 budget.
Sequels abounded and the films comfortably usurped the annual Halloween slot occupied by the Saw franchise over the course of the following three sequels. 2013 was supposed to see two Paranormal Activity movies - a “Latin-American oriented” spin-off at the beginning of the year and then a fifth instalment at Halloween as usual, but the cool reception to Paranormal Activity 4 apparently led...

Hey Creeps! Hard to believe that it has been 6 years since Paranormal Activity hit theaters to scare audiences in October and take away the thunder from the Saw franchise. Now, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is supposedly the final entry in the series. We’ll see if it is truly the end this time next year. However, with this “last” entry, they are adding 3D to the mix which gives off kind of a William Castle gimmick – if they use it the way I think they will use it. Whether you are on the fence on this one or stoked to see it, Destroy the Brain has tickets for you to see it before it comes out next Friday. We’re little under a week until the Paranormal Activity series comes to an end with The Ghost Dimension, and with this latest trailer, it really seems they’re going out with a bang. We've all talked to our TV screens, but what if they talked back?
That's the question alarmingly raised in this clip from "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension," debuting exclusively on Moviefone. In the preview, brothers Ryan (Chris J. Murray) and Mike (Dan Gill) watch a 20-year-old video tape they found in the basement of Ryan's new home. In it, two girls -- Kristi and Katie (remember them from "Paranormal Activity 3"?) -- are seen being induced into a trance-like state, with the goal of making contact with the other side. But, as it turns out, "the other side" is the here and now. Pretty freaky.
"Ghost Dimension" marks the fifth -- and final -- installment of the "Paranormal Activity" franchise, and ties together elements of the first four movies, while serving up a whole new chapter.

The main complaint with the Paranormal Activity franchise is that it played things far too close to its chest in terms of what was actually going on. There is actually a very mythology built into the series, but you wouldn’t really know considering how the information is drip fed to the audience. Well, with the last installment, The Ghost Dimension, get ready for all you answers to be questioned and the spooky goings on to be laid bare, as this latest feature promises just that. One of the most well-known horror franchises of the past decade is set to come to a close later this year, as the Paranormal Activity series will be taking its final bow.
Titled Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, the movie is directed by editor Gregory Plotkin, who is making his feature film directorial debut with the project. Chloe Csengery reprises her role as Katie once again, joined this time by Brit Shaw, Chris J. Murray, and Olivia Taylor Dudley.
The film’s synopsis is as follows.
The Ghost Dimension, follows a new family, The Fleeges – father Ryan (Chris J. This is the end, my only friend, the end. After 5 canonical motion pictures, umpteen nightmares and a box office haul to the tune of $800 million, Blumhouse’s micro-budget horror series will bow out this fall with Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, and today brings a new trailer and pair of clips in anticipation of the franchise’s curtain call.
Helmed by Gregory Plotkin, the ultimate chapter will tread overly familiar ground in terms of story, having a family unearth a dark and foreboding secret within the four walls of their home. In this instance, it’s a large, unwieldy camera that acts as the film’s Macguffin, harboring the power to peer behind the veil into the titular alternate reality. What do they see? Nothing good, judging by today’s new promos.

Witness the power... of the activity! Paramount has debuted the first short TV spot for Gregory Plotkin's Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, the latest sequel in the never-ending Paranormal Activity horror franchise. The hint is that this is supposed to be the end of it all, finale, and they're going all out by making it in 3D. Oh boy. The cast includes Chris J. Murray, Brit Shaw, Ivy George, Dan Gill and Chloe Csengery. This looks like they're really trying to go all out and scare the crap out of everyone with cheesy FX, and intense violence, but why not if it's truly the last one. Hide under the covers and watch. One of the main complaints of the Paranormal Activity franchise was despite having a rich mythology running through all the movie, nothing of note really happened till the last five to ten minutes. Well, for the final installment in the found footage horror series it seems the usual formula has been turned on its head, with the release of a new t.v. spot packing in more scares and action (and special effects) that was in the entirety of Paranormal Activity 4. Yes, The Ghost Dimension could easily go the way of the other movies, but with this really feeling like the final time we’ll see this series, there’s no doubt Paramount will want it go out with a bang. The Martian – October 2
Director: Ridley Scott
Stars: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig
Synopsis: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
Analysis: Ridley Scott has gone and made a movie that seems to make enough sense for people to enjoy, good for him. This crowd-pleaser certainly looks to hit all the right spots for a great time in the theater. I’ve actually avoided all the clips and trailers since the first overlong and revealing trailer was released. It looks funny and smart; I knew Matt Damon had it in him.

The Paranormal Activity saga comes to an end this October with The Ghost Dimension, and a new poster has come our way, putting one of the most striking images from the trailer front and centre. One of the biggest complaints from the series till now was that nothing really happens to push forward the saga, with each movie just being a rehash of what preceded it. Everything we’ve seen so far points to this hopefully not being the case for the final chapter. Barely 24 hours have passed since the release of the eerie first teaser for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Paramount – showing a complete disregard to those with bad nerves – has now unveiled the full-length clip.
Billed as the fifth and final entry in the cult horror series, The Ghost Dimension will be helmed by Gregory Plotkin, who has served as both editor and co-producer on a number of entires in the franchise. The trailer itself paints a very familiar scene; naive family moves into a deceivingly nice house, stumbles upon some form of spiritual conduit, shit hits the fan.
In this instance, The Ghost Dimension‘s MacGuffin is a collection of old video tapes and a mysterious, unwieldy camera that holds the power to peek into the titular alternate reality. From there, our protagonists – led by Chris J. Murray and Brit Snow – uncover dark secret after dark secret causing all sorts of supernatural trouble.

Paramount has released the first Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension trailer, announcing the film will be released in 3D and will serve as the final film in the Paranormal Activity franchise. Why they've decided to call it quits on such a lucrative franchise is beyond me. The last installment, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, is the worst performer of all five previous films and it made $90.9 million on a $5 million budget and it was a spin-off hardly related to the original franchise. Now, Paramount has waited almost two years to bring another to the big screen, which is to say they've created some demand (though it may be limited at this point) and are calling it quitsc Silliness. Anyway, Ghost Dimension centers on the Fleeges -- father Ryan (Chris J. Murray), mother Emily (Brit Shaw) and their young daughter Leila (Ivy George) -- who move into a house and discover...
