‘The Mentalist’: About That Final Scene…
Even though the Red John reveal itself (Icymi, it was Sheriff Thomas McAllister) was a bit underwhelming after five years of buildup, his death scene was almost shockingly powerful, thanks largely in part to Simon’s phenomenal acting.

The final shot of Sunday's (Nov. 24) episode of "The Mentalist" featured Patrick Jane running. But is he running away or toward something?
Maybe both, say series creator Bruno Heller and star Simon Baker, who plays Jane. After years of searching for Red John, the serial killer who murdered his family, Jane finally discovered his identity -- Napa Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) -- and made good on his promise to kill Red John.
So what comes next? Read on as Baker and Heller discuss the fallout for Jane and the Cbi.
How will killing Red John affect Jane psychologically?
Heller: Jane is this tragic figure who has gotten his heart's desire, has found the sort of evil grail he's been chasing all these years. Now it's very much a question of what does that do to him as a person, can he begin a new life and what kind of...

Those of you who figured Jane naming Gale Bertram as Red John wasn't the last word in "The Mentalist's" long-running serial-killer storyline, well done: Sunday's (Nov. 24) episode showed there was still more to be told.
If you were looking for a grand explanation of Red John's motives, methods and all the rest, though, you may have come away a little disappointed.
Sunday's episode, fittingly titled "Red John," finally brought an end to Jane's quest to find and kill the man who murdered his family. Once he did catch up with the killer -- which was not without complications -- he wasted little time in making good on his promise to end Red John's life. It was a raw, real moment that Simon Baker played the heck out of -- the play of emotions on his face as he throttled the last breaths from Red John was impressive to watch.

This Sunday (Nov. 24), "The Mentalist" will reveal once and for all the identity of Red John, the serial killer who murdered Patrick Jane's (Simon Baker) family. Although Jane asserted in a press conference during "The Great Red Dragon" that Red John is actually Cbi director Gale Bertram, the killer's actual identity is still very much up in the air.
The list of seven is still in play, so let's go through a couple of the conspiracy theories claiming that each of the men are Red John.
Brett Partridge
When Cho went to the morgue to look at his arm for confirmation of the tattoo, he didn't look at his face. And it looked like the tattoo was there, right? Something's fishy.
Bob Kirkland
Kirkland has a twin brother -- could he be the one who died? Listen, evil twin twists aren't just for soap operas.
Thomas McAllister
He's been around since the beginning.

So much for a tattoo being the surefire way to determine who Red John is.
On Sunday's episode of The Mentalist, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) gathers the five remaining Red John suspects — Bret Stiles (Malcolm McDowell), Ray Haffner (Reed Diamond), Thomas McAllister (Jack Plotnick), Reede Smith (Drew Powell) and Gale Bertram (Michael Gaston) — at his house to determine once and for all which one is his nemesis. As he's rounding the quintet up, we learn a couple of important things: first, that the FBI has reopened their investigation into Bret Stiles, but Stiles isn't worried about being found because he's dying getting ready to "elevate himself to another plane," in the parlance of Visualize.

In its final run to unveil Red John, "The Mentalist" has asked its viewers to suspend more disbelief than usual, what with every case Jane and his Cbi colleagues take of late seeming to connect to the killer.
Sunday's (Nov. 10) episode -- initially scheduled to air last week, until a late-ending NFL game pushed it out of primetime and CBS scheduled a repeat in its place -- did away with the case-of-the-week pretense and focused solely on the Red John story, with Jane (Simon Baker) getting that much closer to figuring out who has been tormenting him all these years. Maybe.
The "maybe" comes from the fact that Jane was thrown a curve. Last week's episode gave Jane what feels like a big clue -- the private detective hired, then killed, by Red John revealed just before her death that her murderer had a tattoo of three dots on his left shoulder.

The list of candidates for Red John was narrowed to seven on the season finale of "The Mentalist." Patrick had come up with the list, but he wasn't alone. Red John, always inside his head and often a few steps ahead of him, predicted the list. He'd had Lorelie read the names on a video before he killed her, getting it exactly right before Patrick had even come up with it.
“See, that’s clever. But fair’s fair, Patrick. You’ve changed the game, so there’s new rules now," Lorelei said for Red John. "I’m going to start killing again, often. Until you catch me, or I catch you.” She also said that she was going to die because Patrick once shook Red John's hand -- another tantalizing clue.

I knew "Red John's Rules" was going to be intriguing when it opened with an exhausted Patrick Jane burning all of the information on his Red John wall. He'd obviously had a major breakthrough but before he'd share it with Lisbon, he needed sleep. That meant lying on the leather sofa in the middle of the Cbi with his suit jacket thrown over his head for most of the day.
For anyone else that might have seemed odd but when your wife and child have been brutally murdered in your own home, I suppose it would be easier to sleep in the middle of a bustling law enforcement office.
Jane's memory of LeeLee Barlow as a little girl was so simple and precious. I loved that he shared that moment with Lisbon, a moment he steadfastly believes he's never shared with anyone else.
But then how did Red John know?...

Patrick Jane tells Lisbon in the season finale of "The Mentalist" that he's going to tell her the seven suspects he thinks could be Red John.
And so he does -- or rather, he confirms it. In a jaw-dropper of a final scene, he's beaten to the punch. The twist is so well-executed that it almost renders the actual names secondary.
Enough with the vagaries: Red John's latest killing is designed specifically to draw Jane in. The victim leads him and Lisbon back to a mobile home park that's also a regular carny layover, and where Jane spent a lot of time when he was young.
The woman, it turns out, was also someone Jane knew as a boy, someone he has a particular fond memory of from a Fourth of July picnic a long time ago. Jane and Lisbon discuss how her death is like Red John reached into...

My picks were Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) himself, Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney), Lorelei Martins (Emmanuelle Chriqui), or someone else. Well, it turns out I’m right. It’s someone else. This has not been Katt Williams' year. Heck, this hasn't even been his day! The possibly retired comedian was arrested this morning at his Los Angeles-area home on suspicion of felony child endangerment and remains in custody, police confirm to E! News. Details of alleged wrongdoing involving minors are pretty much always kept confidential; his booking sheet notes that he is being held at the Lapd's Valley Jail in Van Nuys in lieu of $100,000 bail. Williams' attorney, Thomas McAllister, had no comment at this time. The bust went down at 8:30 a.m., right around when news outlets were learning that the IRS filed a $4 million tax lien against the Friday After Next star on Dec....

Seattle — Comedian Katt Williams didn't show up at an arraignment hearing in Seattle to face assault charges stemming from several run-ins with people and police last weekend.
Williams' attorney, Thomas McAllister, told the judge Thursday that his client was under the impression that he didn't have to attend the hearing, citing information from a Seattle Times article. McAllister says Williams is back in California.
The Times reports ( ) that the judge rescheduled the hearing for next week. http://bit.ly/VJzMhX
Authorities say Williams struck a man over the head with a microphone while performing Friday night, threw chairs at fans, and threatened a bar manager with a pool cue over the weekend.
Authorities say officers had to restrain Williams before he was taken into custody after the bar incident.
