Hardluck single mother blows into a small town just as an ex-con returns there, and many thinly drawn secondary characters kick off
Terminally unlucky, flat broke and unhoused, single parent Maben (Wila Fitzgerald) wafts like a tumbleweed into a small Mississippi town with her seven-year-old daughter Annalee (Pyper Braun). Why she is chosen to come to this particular podunk municipality isn’t clear at first, but by and by we learn that Maben has a connection to the place. However, her return is far from joyful considering once she’s checked herself and Annalee into a seedy motel and put the little one to bed, she makes a half-hearted attempt to turn a trick in the car park which goes horrifically wrong when a local sheriff (Shiloh Fernandez), arrests her, rapes her, and then calls his buddies to come over and have a turn. Adapted from the segment “Amateur Night” from anthology film V/H/S, Gregg Bishop‘s SiREN intrigued me mainly because he didn’t create the original. That’s how impactful producers felt this vignette proved, enough to spark interest for an expansion beyond its creative team. David Bruckner — the source material’s director and co-writer with Nicholas Tecosky — stayed on as an executive producer while working second unit, ultimately passing the baton to Bishop in order to focus on his own feature Southbound. In that respect this project could be labeled as a full-fledged remake with screenwriters Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski crafting an entirely new mythology. They saw Lily (Hannah Fierman) as more than a succubus wreaking havoc upon co-eds. They saw a feral siren desperate to escape from underneath an entrepreneurial occultist’s thumb.

The new horror thriller film “SiREN” asks the question, “How far off the rails can a bachelor party go?” The answer is pretty far, especially if there’s a predator on the loose. The film follows an apprehensive groom-to-be Jonah (Chase Williamson) whose last hurrah before tying the knot turns nightmarish when he frees a seemingly innocent girl from a supernatural sex club. Her ruthless handler will stop at nothing to recapture his prize, but while Jonah struggles to rescue the girl, he soon discovers that she is a dangerous fabled predator that has chosen him as her mate. “SiREN” co-stars Justin Welborn (“The Final Destination”), Michael Aaron Milligan (“The Last Heist”), Hayes Mercure (“Mascots”), Randy McDowell (“Paranormal Activity”) and Hannah Fierman (“American Hell”). Watch an exclusive clip below.

David Bruckner’s “Amateur Night” segment of V/H/S is a crowd favorite amongst franchise fans, so you can imagine the excitement surrounding this year‘s feature-length Chiller adaptation. SiREN marks the cinematic return of Hannah Fierman’s beloved psycho-nymph, but how would the devilish songstress fare without a found footage perspective or Bruckner’s vision? V/H/S alumn Gregg Bishop steps in to direct a bachelor-party-gone-wrong script written by Luke Piotrowski, in an attempt to enchant viewers expecting the same obsessive terror with a lesser production feel than Bruckner’s minutes-long short. Prepare to be un-a-mused, hopeless horror romantics…

"No man can resist her..." Chiller Films has released a trailer for the new horror thriller SiREN, adapted from one of the segments in the original V/H/S horror anthology film. SiREN is a feature length version of the segment about the woman who two guys hire for a bachelor party, who turns out to be a crazy monster. You'll know exactly which one this is, as it was one of the best segments from the original V/H/S. SiREN stars Hannah Fierman as Lily, plus Chase Williamson, Justin Welborn, Michael Aaron Milligan, Hayes Mercure, Randy McDowell and Lindsey Garrett. It's cool to see them turning that one part of V/H/S into a full-length film, I'm just not sure if this is going to be too cheesy or just the right amount of creepy. There's all kinds of weird stuff going on in this, but I...

If horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that you probably shouldn’t follow a dude you meet at a strip club to a second location. That important rule appears to have been lost on the characters of “SiREN,” a feature-length adaptation of the “Amateur Night” segment from 2012’s “V/H/S.” Watch its trailer below.

While the 2012 horror anthology V/H/S may be uneven overall, there can be little doubt that “Amateur Night,” the segment written and directed by David Bruckner, is one of the highlights of the film. The found footage short about a group of dudebros who pick up an odd girl (Hannah Fierman) who turns out to be more than they expected, is funny and scary in the best EC Comics tradition. Because it works so beautifully as a self-contained short, it also doesn’t seem like the most obvious candidate to be adapted into a full feature film. Enter director Gregg Bishop and his new movie, Siren.

Sirens would draw Greek sailors to their doom, with their beautiful voices. Now, at least one inhabits director Gregg Bishop (V/H/S Viral) and David Bruckner's upcoming horror feature Siren. Developed from Bruckner's short film "Amateur Night," Jonah rescues a girl, from a supernatural sex club. But, she proves more than he can handle. The film stars: Chase Williamson (John Dies at the End), Justin Welborn (The Final Destination), Michael Aaron Milligan, Hayes Mercure, and Randy McDowell. An early clip from Siren is hosted here. The clip shows Jonah (Williamson) and the Siren (Hannah Fierman) in a bathroom. Both characters are hounded by a masked, knife wielding man. Jonah cowers as the Siren attacks. And, the results are gruesome. Siren is slated for a December launch. The film will see a few theatres this December 2nd. On December 6th, the film will be launched on VOD and on DVD.

Man, The Last Heist boasts one damn-fine hook – bank robbers accidentally lock themselves inside with a serial killer who starts picking them off one by one. On premise alone, Mike Mendez’s latest B-Movie hopeful is enough to get genre fans all revved-up – but dammit if execution doesn’t topple such a fragile structure. This is a low-budget flick that reeks of low-budgeting, never able to overcome actors who are obviously shooting fake guns or CGI effects that stick out like digital bullet holes. What should be a raucous heist/slasher hybrid plays like a slightly-elevated game of cops and robbers, cheap in value and lacking in performances.
Sigh – this is the genre fan in me being disappointed.

The third entry in the found footage franchise is available just in time for Halloween and features segments from Nacho Vigalondo, Marcel Sarmiento, Gregg Bishop, Justin Benson, Todd Lincoln, and Aaron Moorhead. Here’s a look at two clips from V/H/S: Viral:
“A police chase after a deranged ice cream truck has captivated the attention of the greater Los Angeles area. Dozens of fame-obsessed teens flock to the streets with their video cameras and camera phones, hell-bent on capturing the next viral video. But there is something far more sinister occurring in the streets of L.A. than a simple police chase. A resounding effect is created onto all those obsessed with capturing salacious footage for no other purpose than to amuse or titillate. Soon the discovery becomes that they themselves are the stars of the next video, one where they face their own death.

Magnet Releasing has released a bloody insane red-band trailer for V/H/S: Viral, which is the third film in the V/H/S horror anthology series. This has been such a fun horror franchise that I've enjoyed watching every year when Halloween rolls around. This trailer is definitely Nsfw, there's some pretty jacked up shit in it, but it looks like an awesome addition to the horror franchise!
The sequel features segments from directors Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial), Marcel Sarmiento (ABCs of Death segment D is for Dogfight), Gregg Bishop (The Birds of Anger), Justin Benson (Wrecked), and Todd Lincoln (The Apparition). Here's the synopsis:
Fame-obsessed teens hell-bent on capturing the next viral video discover they are the stars of the latest internet sensation. V/H/S Viral is the third and most intense installment in the groundbreaking horror franchise from the world’s top genre filmmakers. V/H...

Say what you want about the first V/H/S film, I happen to enjoy it. However, I will defend V/H/S/2 to the death. What a great anthology that was. Dark, creepy, gory and inventive, V/H/S/2 does what any good sequel would. Take what made the first film effective, and make it even more so. I personally haven’t watched this red band trailer for the new sequel, V/H/S: Viral, because I don’t want a single second of this film spoiled for me. If you’re braver than I, though, here it is, for your viewing pleasure. V/H/S: Viral will be available on VOD on the 23rd of October. A limited theatrical engagement will follow, beginning on November 21st.
