Released in January 2024, “Miller’s Girl” is an erotic thriller film written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett. The story centers on Jenna Ortega and her dedicated English teacher Martin Freeman. Their lives become intertwined when a creative writing assignment leads to unexpected consequences, blurring the lines between student and teacher, as well as guidance, and manipulation.

Actor David Arquette, 51, who appeared in the first five Scream films, admits that he was “sad” seeing the latest film in the franchise.
Arquette played the staple character of Dewey Riley in the series. Dewey was killed off in the fifth film, leaving die-hard fans reeling at his loss.
In a plot twist in Scream 5, Ghostface – the iconic series antagonist – slaughters Arquette’s Dewey. It happens after Dewey rescues new character Tara Carpenter (Wednesday’s Jenny Ortega) from near death.
Fans were horrified to see his character killed. Dewey had come close to death before, but it took five films for him to finally meet his demise.
Still, Arquette went to a screening of the latest instalment in the Scream franchise.
“It was hard for me to do it, but I also knew I wanted to see it,” Arquette told Variety’s Marc Malkin.

Ortega is in talks to play the daughter of Lydia Deetz, portrayed by Winona Ryder in the original film. Michael Keaton is also set to reprise his role as the title character.

Plot: A year after the horrors that took place for Sam and Tara Carpenter, the creepy Ghostface returns to terrorize the siblings and their pals. And this time, it all takes place in the Big Apple.
Review: “What’s your favorite scary movie?” Most horror fans know who is calling when they hear that voice on the other end of the phone. And yes, Ghostface is back. Since its debut with the original Scream in 1996, it became a solid series of modern slasher fun. Let’s face it; when arguably the worst film in it is Scream 3, you aren’t doing too bad. Even that flick offered clever cameos and had wildly engaging sequences. And with last year’s revival giving audiences a couple of new leads with Jenny Ortega and Melissa Barrera, it still made for an enjoyable entry. What’s most impressive now is that the sixth film in this franchise,...

Over the past two years, Jenna Ortega has established herself as having a knack for the horror genre in particular. She gave standout performances in "X" and 2022's "Scream," and became a household name with her titular role in the comedy-horror series "Wednesday." As it turns out, Ortega's really good with taking on creepy material. With "Wednesday" getting renewed and "Scream VI" coming out in March 2023, Ortega's career seems as promising as ever.
But as the actress has explained in a recent interview with The Face, playing these roles wasn't always easy. For "Wednesday" in particular, Ortega felt a lot of pressure to measure up to the standard set by Christina Ricci, to whom she knew she'd inevitably be compared (especially since Ricci herself has a role in the show). "Christina Ricci is a legend," said Ortega. "I know that I can't knock anyone off and I have to do it differently,...

After a career spanning nearly forty years, Tim Burton shows no signs of slowing down, even if it’s been three years since his last film, the live-action Disney remake of “Dumbo.” Up next for the auteur? “Wednesday,” his Netflix series based on “The Addams Family” character, starring Jenny Ortega. At the Lumière Festival in Lyon, Deadline caught up with Burton, who talked about his studio career, Johnny Depp, and a lost musical project with Michael Jackson.

The latest trailer for Netflix’s Wednesday has arrived and not only shows off more of Jenny Ortega’s titular character, but gives a first look at both Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester and Christina Ricci’s role..
Guided by a rendition of “Paint It Black”, the trailer shows teenage Wednesday arriving at the Nevermore Academy, a “safe haven” for her to practice her supernatural skills and try not to strangle her perky new roommate in her sleep. Wednesday quickly discovers the school is full of secrets and creatures, altogether ooky.
But perhaps most grabbing part of the Wednesday trailer for fans is the sudden appearance of Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen in what looks to be a playfully demented performance. For the record, Armisen confirmed that he did indeed shave his head for the role.
The trailer also gives us our first look at Ms. Thornhill, played by Christina Ricci,...

An "Addams Family" project directed by Tim Burton feels like such an obvious thing, the only thing more mysterious and spooky than the Addamses themselves is the fact it hasn't already been made. There was even a point where it seemed doomed to never happen after a planned stop-motion "Addams Family" movie potentially helmed by Burton was canceled in the early 2010s.
Then came the rise of streaming and, before anyone knew it, Burton had signed on to helm Netflix's "Wednesday," a live-action series about the titular Addams daughter famously played by Christina Ricci in the two theatrical "Addams Family" films directed by Barry Sonnenfeld in the 1990s. Could this be a long-awaited return to darkly impertinent form for Burton?...

“Wednesday,” the Netflix series about a teenage Wednesday Addams, finally has a premiere date. The series will drop Nov. 23, Netflix announced Friday.
“Wednesday” is executive produced and directed by Tim Burton, with showrunners, EPs and writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. It stars Jenny Ortega as the teenage member of the famed Adams family.
Here’s the logline for the series: “From the imagination of Tim Burton, ‘Wednesday’ is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

It was another easy pathway to the top slot at the domestic box office for “The Batman.” Now in its third weekend, the Warner Bros. release continues to hold remarkably well, grossing $10.6 million on Friday from 4,302 locations, which marks a 43% drop from its sophomore outing. The film is projected to expand its domestic cume by about $39 million through the weekend.
“The Batman” should surpass a total domestic gross of $300 million by Monday, becoming only the second pandemic era release to do so after “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Its stellar opening of $134 million and lean week-to-week drops have made the Robert Pattinson-led film the highest-grossing movie of 2022 thus far, and the second-highest grossing film since the Covid-19 pandemic began — again, topped only by “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

Although it’s dropped the number from its title, don’t let the new Scream fool you: this is Scream 5 through and through, set 10 years after the last film and featuring plenty of the legacy characters you’d expect to see.

For a few minutes. Unlike all four previous entries, the victim in the opening scene doesn’t die after being attacked by a brand new Ghostface. Secrecy on Scream – the upcoming relaunch of the horror franchise, which we’re all just going to call Scream 5 – is so tight that even the movie’s cast don’t know for sure who the next Ghostface is.
The identity of the masked trivia-obsessed serial killer is always a closely guarded reveal that the filmmakers have to work hard to keep under wraps, as fans are desperate to uncover it every time a new Scream is in the works. And for this effort, the stars received multiple versions of the script so that things could remain a secret.
Producer William Sherak spoke to CinemaBlend recently and made clear that “most of the cast” have no idea if they got the actual script or a fake one. Presumably, only the actors who play the real killer and the characters that face off with them know what’s what, as it...

Gale Weathers is back and she’s already kicking up a storm online. New photos from the set of Scream 5 in North Carolina have revealed our first look at Courteney Cox in character as the tough-as-nails reporter, and fans are thrilled to see that she’s still rocking the same eye-catching sartorial style that she’s had since the 90s.
These images capture the ex-Friends star on location, dressed in a bright red pant suit, and as well as her fashion sense, the pics also reveal Gale’s hair in the movie. Cox’s character’s hair has gone through as many changes in the horror-comedy franchise as there’ve been Ghostface killers. This time, the actress is sporting a long dark look that matches how she styles it as herself. So, no crazy bangs here, for shame.

Three crew members on Scream 5 have tested positive for Covid-19, Deadline is reporting. The much-anticipated latest installment in the meta-horror franchise only just started shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina, but it’s already faced something of a setback. Luckily, it seems it’ll be able to overcome this hurdle as filming is scheduled to continue as normal.
Deadline notes that the shoot wrapped up for the week as expected on Thursday, with production due to pick up on Monday after a planned weekend break. The positions of the affected crew members haven’t been revealed, but it’s known that they’re not part of the primary pool of key personnel – for instance, the director, assistant directors or Dp. If they were, filming wouldn’t be able to press ahead.

The positions of the affected crew members haven’t been revealed, but it’s known that they’re not part of the primary pool of key personnel – for instance, the director, assistant directors or Dp. If they were, filming wouldn’t be able to press ahead.

Ever since the news was first announced, horror enthusiasts have eagerly been awaiting the release of Scream 5. Apparently, the studio has picked up on the excitement and decided to throw fans another bone, as according to our sources – the same ones who told us a new Scream was in the works long before it was officially revealed, and that Neve Campbell was returning for it – the Powers That Be have already greenlit Scream 6 for production following the release of the upcoming installment.
Of course, it’s far too early for plot details and the like, but hopefully this next film won’t kill off too many fan favorites so that they can all return for the sixth go-round. After all, series mainstays David Arquette, Courtney Cox and the aforementioned Campbell have all signed on for Scream 5, where they’ll be starring alongside newcomers Sonia Ammar, Melissa Barrera, Jenny Ortega,...

Scream 5 has added yet another new star to its ranks. Over the past month, Paramount and Spyglass Media Group’s much-anticipated relaunch of the beloved horror franchise has been rounding out its cast with a range of up-and-coming actors and now, French-Arab singer, model and actress Sonia Ammar has become the latest to sign up to appear in the film. As with all the other new castings, though, character details are being kept under wraps.
Variety got the scoop on this one, and with the news of Ammar’s casting came confirmation that production on Scream 5 is due to kick off later this very month. Filming is expected to take place mostly in studio – a precaution against Covid-19 taken by many shoots at the moment – in Wilmington, North Carolina.
This is the first major feature role for the 21-year-old Paris-born Ammar, who’s previously featured in Calvin Harris...

Just when you thought it was safe to check out Netflix tonight, the streamer has dumped a sequel to its 2017 hit The Babysitter into its endless river of algorithm-calibrated goo. But while some critics apparently found the first movie charming–and appreciated the presence of rising horror-comedy star Samara Weaving (Ready or Not)–The Babysitter: Killer Queen fails on every level to make even a perfunctory case for a follow-up.
For one thing, Weaving is not the lead baddie this time around, even if most of the rest of the cast from the original encore here. Now you may ask how all the other slain cultist villains return. But a script that combines “no one’s ever really dead in horror” contrivances with some motivation-destroying retconning makes it easy. Too easy. But nothing about the story makes sense on any level, and it’s a wonder that it took returning...

Following the fan-pleasing news that Neve Campbell is officially back as Sidney Prescott, Scream 5 has now rounded out its cast with five new additions and one more returning star. But no, it’s not Hayden Panettiere.
As per Deadline, Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers) and Kyle Gallner (Smallville) have joined the cast of Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures’ upcoming rebootquel of the meta-horror franchise. As with the rest of the newcomers – Marissa Barrera, Jenny Ortega and Jack Quaid – their roles have yet to be revealed.
In addition to these five, Marley Shelton is also set to reprise her character from Scream 4. Shelton played Deputy Judy Hicks, Dewey’s second-in-command and a potential Ghostface suspect in the fourth film. In the end, she turned out to be an ally, but in the Scream universe,...
