Cops have rules. He doesn’t! Yes, author Lee Child’s iconic Jack Reacher comes roaring on to our screens courtesy of Tom Cruise in top, all-action form as the eponymous hero Jack Reacher. Film correspondent Hilary Oliver sat down with legendary actor Robert Duvall to discuss how he became involved with Christopher McQuarrie’s film adaptation.
When a gunman takes five lives with six shots, all evidence points to the suspect in custody. On interrogation, the suspect offers up a single note: “Get Jack Reacher!” So begins an extraordinary chase for the truth, pitting Jack Reacher against an unexpected enemy, with a skill for violence and a secret to keep.
Jack Reacher is set for release on December 21st in the Us and December 28th here in the UK. Check out our Jack Reacher review, and the rest of our coverage here.

The third and final interview from our collection from Great Expectations is with the wonderfully talented Helena Bonham Carter who plays Miss Havisham. This latest adaption of the Charles Dickens classic is directed by Mike Newell who we had an interview with yesterday and can be seen here. We also have an interview with leading man Jeremy Irvine which can also be seen here.
Hilary Oliver interviews Helena where they discuss her take on the character, how she’s not as old as some people think she is and how’s she’s completely ‘barking’ mad! They discuss how they did the research into finding out what someone who had light depredation would feel and act like as well as having to act with completely stiff joints! They also talk about working through the David Nicholls and changing that from the original Dickens novel.

Tonight sees the end to months of speculation and chatter over who will walk away with those coveted trophies at the Oscars in 2012.
In the run-up to the glittering occasion, a study of the interest generated on social media has been carried out by Way To Blue - and it comes up with some very interesting data.
As might be expected by now, black-and-white silent film The Artist has dominated the buzz for the Academy Awards, accounting for 27 per cent (38,366 tweets) of the messages on Twitter. Hugo comes next, then The Help, Moneyball and The Tree of Life.
But, surprisingly, Midnight in Paris (pictured above) is the leader in terms of tweets that are willing a particular film to win Best Picture. So even though more people tweeted in general about The Artist, it was Midnight in Paris that the public want to see as the name revealed in the golden envelope.

Andrew Niccol’s sci-fi action thriller In Time is set in a future in which, thanks to genetic manipulation, the gene that causes ageing has been turned off, and people trade “in time” in order to pay for the things they want. The film, which stars Justin TImberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Galecki and Matt Bomer, is in cinemas now.
