President Donald Trump and members of his administration are feeling the wrath of the Irish after a series of culturally insensitive moments during Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny’s annual St. Patrick’s Day-timed visit to Washington.
Kenny, who had previously criticized Trump for his “racist and dangerous” language, followed through with the traditional trip on Thursday, despite a petition from nearly 40,000 people who demanded he cancel.
With his staff and more than 20 Irish reporters by his side, the prime minister (called a “Taoiseach” in the Irish language) participated in a day of events — including a luncheon at the U.

According to the Irish Independent, around 50 Garth Brooks fans gathered to protest the Dublin city council's decision to limit the country singer's concert dates from five days to three. While this might seem like an injustice to country fans everywhere, the guitar hero is not necessarily in the right, saying that the city either allows him to play all five shows, or he'll cancel the entire tour. Fans, of course, are beside themselves. The situation has become a political morass for the city, involving disgruntled neighborhood residents, concert organizers, and even the prime minister of Ireland, Enda Kenny. Here's how it began: back in January Garth Brooks announced three tour dates in Croke Park as part of his comeback tour. Tickets sold out scary fast — 240,000 tickets sold in 90 minutes. Sensing an opportunity to make more money, concert organizers added more dates, selling around 400,000 tickets in total. The...

George Takei urges Hobby Lobby boycott, Burger King offers Proud Whopper, Rupert Everett still crying about his career
Through this Thursday, Burger King is selling the Proud Whopper at one store, on Market Street in San Francisco. Bk was a sponsor of Sf Pride this year, and handed out 50,000 rainbow crowns during the parade. The tag line is “We are all the same inside.” The brand will also be releasing a video this morning on the same theme. Evidently the wrappers are considered collectors’ items, with people folding them up and taking them home. This is kind of neat, but I’m getting to the point that major corporations doing something like this on the second gayest street in the gayest city in America, or running web-only ads isn’t really that impressive. If you’re coming out for gay rights, come out nationally, and on prime time.

Washington -- The White House says Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny will visit the White House next Tuesday.
President Barack Obama and Kenny will meet in the Oval Office that morning before heading to an annual St. Patrick's Day lunch at the Capitol. That evening, the president and first lady Michelle Obama will hold a reception to mark their fifth St. Patrick's Day at the White House.
At the reception, Obama and Kenny will participate in an exchange of shamrocks, a tradition begun under President Harry Truman.
Obama is scheduled to meet separately next Tuesday with Peter Robinson, the leader of Northern Ireland's 6-year-old Catholic-Protestant government, and Robinson's deputy, Martin McGuinness, to discuss progress toward peace and reconciliation in their country.
St. Patrick's Day, March 17, falls on a Sunday this year.

Britain's Prince William and Duchess Catherine will visit Ireland in 2014. Careful preparations are being made for the royals' visit to the country, which had reportedly been planned before the duchess became pregnant, and it is thought the prince's role as an Raf search and rescue pilot may be a factor in the trip. A source told The Irish Sun newspaper: 'The fact that Prince William is based in Anglesey gives a good hook for the visit. There is a lot of co-operation between Britain and Ireland in that area. 'Very tentative steps were taken before the Duchess of Cambridge became pregnant, but obviously because of the baby that had to be put on hold.' Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny...

Things got a little bit excited on this side of the pond when the Irish twittersphere exploded with the news that the Muppets sequel (The Muppets….Again!) would be filming in Dublin. Before we all stopped drinking and thundered off to Dublin, we’ve got some clarification from Disney that this announcement may have been a bit premature. The confirmed details at present are that Dublin has been added to the list of tour locations which the Muppets will perform in during their global tour in the movie ‘The Muppets ...... Again!’ There is no confirmation that the movie will actually shoot in Ireland. Which is tragic. But until we hear otherwise, we’ll hold out hope. Now back to the pub! Oh, and we’ve included a poorly photoshopped version of Enda Kenny, the Irish Pm!

Mayo won the day in the General Election and on Craggy Island as Belmullet girl Majella Donoghue took a leaf out of Enda Kenny’s book on Saturday. Hundreds of Father Ted fans cast the political votes to one side as they celebrated the life and times of Ireland’s greatest comedy series and its star turn Dermot Morgan over the weekend. The General Election was forgotten about amidst the drama and excitement of the Loveliest Girl On Craggy Island contest as families, friends and fans of the late Morgan celebrated the iconic TV show. Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands, was turned into Craggy Island for the weekend for the fifth annual Tedfest, deemed the best yet by those in the know. Like Enda Kenny’s landslide win on the mainland, the votes all went the way of Mayo in the Lovely Girl competition as Majella Donoghue from Belmullet triumphed.
