Don Matos got his start as a film producer at Columbia Pictures, where he developed motion picture projects under the auspices of David
Puttnam, Academy Award-winning producer of Chariots of Fire and The Killing Fields.
Don works as a film fund manager and executive producer to fund extraordinary A-list attached live action films and high-concept animated family films from the creators of previous blockbusters. Don has won or placed in eleven major screenplay competitions, including the Motion Picture Academy's Nicholl Fellowships, the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab, and the Eugene O'Neill National Playwrights Conference. He has also won awards in filmmaking, including the prestigious FOCUS Award, and was trained as a Stanislavski director by Delia Salvi, one of Lee Strasberg's most respected disciples and a member of the famed Actors Studio.
Don created and administered two film schools in Los Angeles, including the first bachelor's degree program in digital film in the country. He is Founder and CEO of his own film, television, and Internet production company, One-Cinema. He is also Founder and CEO of The Institute for New Cinema and its non-profit Cultural Center, which is both a film school and a motion picture-television studio with its own online streaming platform that he is planning to launch.
Don has a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from UCLA.
