A thought that has been silently floating around many pop culture fans' minds for years has recently been exposed on a niche side of TikTok: Hollywood is run by connections, and more specifically, family ties. From "Emily In Paris" star Lily Collins to supermodel Gigi Hadid, many of our favorite actors, singers, and internet personalities have famous and inevitably well-connected parents.
This phenomenon was highlighted in New York Magazine's December 2022 cover story titled "The Year of the Nepo Baby," which sparked even more discussion around the prevalence of industry vets' children snatching up major roles in movies and television. The author of the New York Magazine piece, Nate Jones, explains TikTok is where "nepo-baby content" is truly thriving, with multipart series about nepo babies who look like their superstar parents and exposés on people you didn't know were nepo babies going viral.

President Trump began his Thursday morning by blaming the attempted assassination of his political adversaries on the media. He’d said as much the night before at a rally in Wisconsin, but his early-morning tweet seems to be inspired by a New York Times report about the president’s careless cell phone use, which has allowed China and Russia to listen in on his calls.
Less than half-an-hour before he attributed the “Anger we see today in our society” to the “Fake News,” Trump railed against the story in the Times.

To go along with our list of the 100 Jokes That Shaped Modern Comedy, Vulture is taking a closer look at some of the jokes on the list. We've already talked to the writers of Airplane! about the iconic "Don't call me Shirley." Today Gilbert Gottfried revisits the 9/11 joke he told at a Friars Club Roast of Hugh Hefner mere weeks after the attack. It kicked off the trend of jokes being delivered "too soon," which still continues to this day. (That joke, and his legendary version of the Aristocrats that followed, were completely scrubbed from the telecast.) Nate Jones spoke with Gottfried for this as-told-to piece. It was a couple of weeks after 9/11. There was a weird feeling in New York. People were walking around in a daze. I was at the roast of Hugh Hefner, and I just wanted to be the first person to make a really-poor-taste joke...

Well into the 21st century as we are, there are certain technological pitfalls in the criminal profession that weren't in place a few years back. For example, few criminals in the 1950s were undone by their love of or enthusiasm for Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or … Tumblr? (Actually we can't really think of any criminals undone by Tumblr, but there's got to be at least one.) In "honor" of the arrest of Victor Almanza-Martinez, who posed for a Snapchat selfie with one of his robbery victims, we're taking a look back at some criminals whose thirst for attention outweighed their aptitude for crime.

Every week, members of the Vulture staff highlight the best new music of 2015. We do not discriminate; as long as the song is worthy of your ears and attention, you will find it here. Florence + the Machine, “Delilah” A few years ago, my sister and I took a trip to Dartmoor. We hiked our way across the windy moor, through brambles, past the skulls of dead sheep; our arrival at the top was greeted by an ominous rumbling in the distance, which was either thunder or the guns of the British Army's firing range, and I was left speechless by the desolate beauty that surrounded me. This new Florence song sounds exactly like that. —Nate Jones (@kn8)Briana Marela, “Surrender” Look, I don’t want...

If you did a double-take when you first heard that Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez were in a movie together, or raised your eyebrows when you then heard that the Getaway movie wasn’t about something involving angst-riddled teens and heart-wrenching drama… and, if you thought a selection of new images would clue you in to something beyond cars, explosions, and moody pictures of Hawke and Gomez very near each other… well, frankly, I’ve lost my train of thought.
However it all works out, this Getaway movie looks fantastic. There’s probably a really good reason that Gomez’ character has a custom Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake for Hawke to steal, but… no, I’m kidding.
Still, it may be fun. Have a look at some hot new images, and get ready to choke on everything you ever said about Selena Gomez’ acting ability.
