A hotel guest who fled without paying his bill has been tracked down using DNA found on the toothbrush he left behind. Trainee plasterer Stephen Evans, 29, checked into a £32-a-night guesthouse in his hometown of Llandudno, Wales under a false name and address in June, claiming to be "Paul Jones of Chester". He told the receptionist that he would be staying for three nights, but left the hotel after two days without paying for his stay, the Daily Mail reports. Police noticed the toothbrush in his room when they were called to investigate. They had it forensically tested and discovered a DNA match on the police database. "He was arrested and said he was homeless at the time because (more)...

Naomi Watts has replaced Jessica Chastain as Princess Diana in Caught in Flight, a biopic from Ecosse Films that is seeking distribution at the sales market out in Berlin right now.
The film focuses on the post-Charles divorce years from 1995 and up to Diana’s death in 1997 and her ‘secret affair’ with Dr. Hasnat Khan, regarded by some to be the true ‘love of her life’. The relationship came before she dated Dodi Fayed, and some speculate (as they do about all aspects of her life) that she rebounded with the son of the billionaire as a way to make Hasnat jealous as she was devastated their relationship ended so abruptly.
Written by The Libertine scribe Steven Jeffreys, Caught in Flight would be directed by German filmmaker Oliver Hirschbiegel, no stranger to controversial biopics having made the definitive portrayal of Adolf Hitler on screen with Downfall. Jeffreys’ script portrays...

Charlize Theron and Carey Mulligan are two actresses rumored to be in the lead for a new adaptation of Princess Diana's controversial book, Diana: Closely Guarded Secret — written by her former personal protection officer, Ken Wharfe. Ewan McGregor is apparently being eyed up for the role of Wharfe, who was so close to the troubled princess that he was even trusted to look after her sons as children, Prince William and Harry. Producer Stephen Evans wants to bring the story to the big screen, focusing on the years leading up to Diana's divorce from Prince Charles. He's using the Thatcher-inspired movie The Iron Lady as his inspiration. "The movie itself isn’t great, but you do believe you are watching Margaret Thatcher. It’s a tour de...

Rumors of a Princess Diana biopic have floated around for years, for all the obvious reasons-- beautiful, tragic, very famous people tend to be perfect fits for biopics, even if nobody ever actually gears up to make one. The closest anyone has come lately is Jessica Chastain, who late last year was set to play Diana in Caught in Flight, an account of her affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn. That project is still developing as far as we know, but the UK's The Daily Mirror is now reporting on a new one, this one based on David Wharfe's 2007 book Diana: Closely Guarded Secret. Wharfe was the princess's bodyguard, and the film will focus on his relationship with her, following the years before the divorce in 1996, an 11-year-span starting just after the birth of Prince Harry. The Mirror got all this from producer Stephen Evans, whose credits include Confessions...

We’ve heard before about producer Stephen Evans’ attempts to get a $30 million film adaptation of Princess Diana’s lifelong bodyguard Ken Wharfe’s controversial 2007 book ‘Diana: Closely Guarded Secret” into production with Charlize Theron and Ewan McGregor (as Diana & the bodyguard respectively), but now we have some specific plot details.
Evans was speaking to The Sunday Record over the weekend and revealed the story;
We are dealing with about 11 years of her life from after she had Harry, when he’s aged about two, and it’s partly from the point of view of her protection bodyguard.
The emphasis of this really is authenticity and to discover what she went through.
Unless you are a Diana freak, quite a lot of it will be unknown to the audience. The movie’s not saying she is unbelievably wonderful or she’s a pain in the neck, the audience can make their own view.

The producer of an upcoming Princess Diana biopic has promised that the film will shed light on her "cunning" and "lethal" side. BAFTA winner Stephen Evans said that the picture - which details the 11 years before Diana's divorce from Prince Charles in 1996 - will be an authentic account of the late royal, who died in a car crash in 1997. "The emphasis on this really is authenticity and to discover what she went through," Evans told the Sunday Mirror. "The movie's not saying she is unbelievably wonderful or she's a pain in the neck, the audience can make their own view. "I think she had some marvellous qualities, absolutely phenomenal qualities and tremendous charisma. She was also very good at one-liners... very witty, sharp. "Intellectually, she was not in the top level but on the other hand had native (more)...

American actress Jessica Chastain is to dye her hair blonde, cut it short, put on a British accent for the first time and step into the daunting shoes of the late Princess Diana for what is sure to be a highly controversial biopic, Caught in Flight. The film is a British production from Ecosse Films, the studio behind the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy and the movie about Queen Victoria’s bereaved relationship with Scottish servant John Brown and is a package being sold to distributors at the American Film Market.
Written by The Libertine scribe Steven Jeffreys, the film will focus on the post-Charles divorce years from 1995 and up to Diana’s death in 1997 and her ‘secret affair’ with Dr. Hasnat Khan, regarded by some to be the true ‘love of her life’. It was just over a year ago that it was revealed that two rival Princess Diana biopics were in the works. One, from producer Stephen Evans, was going to be based on the book "Diana: Closely Guarded Secret" by Diana’s lifelong bodyguard, Ken Wharfe. The film was budgeted at $30 million, with boasts of Charlize Theron and Ewan McGregor circling roles. Meanwhile, Pathé films was also developing a biopic with names like Keira Knightley and Dame Helen Mirren (as the Queen Mother) being tossed around. But it seems, a third project has now leapt into the pole position and it's…...

"It's an amazing story... what is quite clear is that her [Princess Diana's] life was an amazing life. She was a wagonload of monkeys but she was also an amazing, fascinating, ballsy woman." Producer Stephen Evans, talking to Screen Daily, explained why his $50M take on Princess Diana's life -- leading up to her divorce from Prince Charles, ending before her Dodi Al Fayed years -- is such a no-brainer. ""You don't often get a movie like this where you know, that if you can make it work, it is bomb proof." Classy! [Screen Daily]...

For over a century, it has been one of the world's most burning questions: If Abraham Lincoln fought his own clone, who would win?
Okay, so maybe we're overstating the importance of the question, but that isn't going to stop Hollywood from answering it. And next year's showdown between "Lincoln" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is just one example of the many projects in the movie pipeline that are fighting with their own clones. Everyone from Snow White to Osama Bin Laden is racing to get to the theater before their evil twin gets there first.
So with that in mind, we thought we'd take a look at some of the films that may soon have you seeing double. Because in Hollywood, if an idea is good enough to film, it's good enough to copy.
