First, some stats: The features program spans ten categories and showcases 110 feature films and 16 online premieres from 151 filmmakers across 40 countries. The lineup includes 88 world premieres, 2 international premieres, 7 North American premieres, 2 U.S. premieres, and 11 New York premieres. There are 32 directors returning to Tribeca with their latest projects, and 50 first-time directors. The Academy announced Kelley Kali and Waad al-Kateeb as domestic and international recipients, respectively, of the 2021 Academy Fellowship for Women — with Kali receiving $35,000 and al-Kateeb receiving the equivalent of £20,000.
Part of the Academy Gold global talent development and inclusion initiative, the fellowship for women is a one-year program that provides direct financial support, mentorship and access to filmmakers. Additionally, fellows will also receive career achievement support through the Alumni Gold Program — which provides professional development and education for alumni of Academy Gold Programs, including Gold Rising, Student Academy Awards and the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting.

Golden Globes winner Jacqueline Bisset (Dancing on the Edge) has joined the cast of Birds of Paradise from Amazon Studios and Anonymous Content. Sarah Adina Smith wrote and is directing the film, which is based on the novel, Bright Burning Stars, by A.K. Small. The pic, starring Kristine Froseth and Diana Silvers, is set at a prestigious ballet school in Paris, where the new girl (Silvers) befriends a grieving dance prodigy (Froseth) as the dancers compete for the school’s ultimate prize: to receive a contract to join the Parisian Opera’s ballet company. As the pressure mounts and the girls are pushed to their physical and emotional limits, their bond is tested and they’re forced to ask themselves just how far they are willing to go to win. Following previous announcements of their film lineup, the Fantasia International Film Festival has released their full lineup of movies to be shown at the 18th Annual festival, starting July 17.
New additions to the lineup include 2014 Cannes Selection When Animals Dream, directed by Jonas Alexander Amby and the return of Fantasia’s showcase of animated films, Axis.
Tickets for the festival go on sale starting July 16, and the festival runs through August 5.

The story of an awkward teenager trying to win back her true love, Dear Lemon Lima, is the heart-warming debut feature by writer/director Suzi Yoonessi. Developed in Film Independent's Screenwriters, Directors, and Producers Labs, Dear Lemon Lima, has come a long way since it's inception in the pages of Yoonessi's own childhood diary. The film made it's world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival where it took home the Audience Award for Outstanding Performance.
