Lady Antebellum's leading lady Hillary Scott has long been a fan of romance author Nicholas Sparks, especially the film made from his tearjerker novel, The Notebook. So when filmmakers asked for the band to write a song for a new film based on the Sparks novel The Best of Me, it was a no brainer. "To be able to write for one specific thing and to put ourselves into the story, because we really try to write from our own personal experience, was really cool," Scott says. "It's a really special, sweet story." The film follows the storyline of high school sweethearts,...

Grammy-winner Keith Urban entered 2012 high on the country radio charts thanks to his hit single You Gonna Fly but he also made the leap into cinemas writing and recording his first song produced specifically for a motion picture. New Zealand-born Urban recorded For You; a song he co-wrote with Monty Powell, specifically for the end credits of the upcoming Navy Seal action movie Act Of Valor from Relativity Media. Scriptwriter Kurt Johnstad wrote Act of Valor, about a team of Seals that uncover a terrorist plot while on a mission to rescue a kidnapped CIA agent. It's been a while since America has seen Matt Giraud. The Jt-like soul man who was a wild card "American Idol" finalist and recipient of last season's controversial judge's save has been working hard off-the-radar since his fifth-place finish on season eight.
Since his "Idol" run ended, Giraud's been writing songs in Nashville for his debut album, working with such well-known songwriters as Marcus Hummon (Rascal Flatts, Dixie Chicks) and Monty Powell (Keith Urban). "I'm not really going country," he told MTV News last month, "but they appreciate soul down there and I've been playing with them and making great music." So far, he's recorded 15 songs, many of which he co-wrote, and is hoping to amass at least 30 before he starts shopping an album around.

Amid the carnage and genuinely confusing results on Thursday night's (March 11) "American Idol" (Aaron Kelly? Katie Stevens? Paige Miles?!?), two of last year's hopefuls took the stage to lighten the mood with a sunny, dueling-pianos duet.
Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre — who just released a brand-new album called Heartstrings — joined forces on an upbeat version of Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It," trading verses and runs up and down the keys. Backed by the "Idol" house band, the duo muscled their way through the song, with Giraud hitting a few falsetto spots, each ripping off rocking, fleet-fingered solos.
The performance earned a standing ovation from the "Idol" crowd, and as Ryan Seacrest approached the two grand pianos,...

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban kicked off their second wedding anniversary on June 25 in their typical laidback style. The day began with an early a.m. trip to one of their favorite spots: a Starbucks in Franklin, Tenn. After pulling up in their black Bentley, the couple – dressed in workout gear and baseball caps – strolled inside hand-in-hand and lingered over drinks and a scone. The twosome then had lunch that afternoon at a local Whole Foods with Urban's songwriter pal Monty Powell and his wife. By then, Kidman was wearing a flower-print, yellow cotton minidress, and Urban had changed into...
