Revolt TV will air what it calls an emotionally gripping 90-minute documentary film titled "Chicago Love," on November 26, 2014. Created by Sean "Diddy" Combs and produced by Revolt CEO Keith Clinkscales, and head of news Rahman Dukes, the documentary, filmed over four months, explores the many causes behind the city of Chicago's challenges, on the heels of recent protests and violence in the Midwest, more specifically Ferguson and the grand jury decision. The documentary aims to answer the question on many minds: "what is happening in Chicago?" "Violence...

Rapper and style icon Sean Combs, who’s chairman and co-founder of Revolt TV, says that the music channel was “used as a pawn” in the auction for Fuse, which the parent of Jennifer Lopez’ NuvoTV agreed to buy last month. His bid in March, estimated at $200M, fell short when Fuse owner Msg agreed to SiTV’s offer of $226M and a 15% stake in the company. “It’s cool. That’s the way business works,” Combs said at a panel at The Cable Show in La. (Fuse today is laying off staffers as it prepares to merge with NuvoTV.) Still, Combs is optimistic, promising to make Revolt “the No. 1 brand in music worldwide” — potentially rivaling Espn and CNN — as he urged distributors to pick up the channel. Television ”was a natural evolution for me,” especially as he saw that “music was homeless” on the medium. That “left a wide open space for the No.

Revolt network, which Sean Combs leads with MTV veteran Andy Schuon, is one of four minority-owned independent networks Comcast pledged to distribute as a condition of getting FCC approval of its NBCUniversal merger. And yet, since its October launch, Revolt has not been available in Comcast’s hometown, Philadelphia. Schoen told TV critics this morning they’re working on that. “People are noticing” he said of the omission. “Have they given you a date?” a Philly TV critic asked. Comcast had committed to launching Revolt “to a certain percentage of homes” in its digital basic tier and to roll it out “in more markets over time.” He noted the network is availabie in Seattle, the Bay area and Miami and in some smaller markets. “We’re a fairly obvious market,” the Philly critic snarked. He declined to say how many homes Revolt is available in because, he said when pressed,...

Sean "Diddy" Combs is stopping by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday (Oct. 25), where he shows off his mad dance skillz, including getting his twerk on -- video above.
Below, he talks about all the different names he is known by. Diddy says they aren't name changes, per se, they're just different alter egos.
"I've been in the Puff Daddy spirit because I'm launching this network [Revolt TV] and I had to go back to my roots of aggression and intensity and relentlessness. And, that's Puff Daddy. That's a super hero," says Diddy. "It's not technically a name change, it's just I'm channeling one of my previous alter egos."
Diddy also has a message for all his friends, after a recent incident where he fell asleep in a meeting and nobody told him (but took pictures instead):
"I just want to say to all my friends out there. I want you...

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ new Revolt channel launched with a nod to big dreams and its founder’s musical past, bringing a new outlet for music to television.
Despite some technical glitches in its opening Monday, Combs aspires to nothing less than making Revolt the Espn of music, with well-curated playlists and a strong focus on industry news.
“I want to know, who is Taylor Swift?” Combs said. “Why is Miley Cyrus twerking? Why did Jay-z and Justin Timberlake go on tour? Why did Kanye West call his daughter ‘North’? The industry of music is just as important, or more important,...

Sean Combs is expanding his empire with Revolt, a new, music-focused cable channel that will be carried in about 25 million homes starting this fall.
Talking about the dearth of music on TV -- MTV anyone? -- Combs is setting out to create a new kind of music station.
"This is the hardest, most stressful thing I have ever done in my life," Combs said at a breakfast at the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills Friday (July 26). "It literally almost drove me crazy two weeks ago."
For years people have talked about how television is dying, but Combs says he realizes it's the opposite. He says TV is everywhere -- "on the toilet, in the trains" -- and he recognized there was an opportunity to be tapped.
The channel's name, of course, lends itself to the inevitable tagline: "The revolution will be televised."
It's the first multi-platform, music channel built from the ground up.

I sat down today with my old friend Nelson George to ask about his recent and past projects. We discussed his newly finished film The Announcement, about Magic Johnson 20 years after he made the announcement that he has the HIV virus. And then we worked backwards and discussed Good Hair, Life Support, and George’s path from journalist to filmmaker.
The Announcement premiered on Espn this month and continues to air; for upcoming screenings, including one this afternoon, visit the website. George’s documentary Brooklyn Boheme is now available on iTunes.
Filmmaker: Tell me about The Announcement and how you came to direct it?
George: I owe it to a guy named Keith Clinkscales, who I’ve known for 20 years. He helped found Vibe back in the day, and he was vice president at Espn. I think they approached Spike Lee first but he was unavailable. I had done a...

Spike Lee's "Kobe Doin' Work," a documentary look at Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, will have its world premiere at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.
An Espn Films production, the film will screen April 25 as the gala entry in the fest's Tribeca/Espn Sports Film Festival sidebar.
Featuring a score by Bruce Hornsby, "Kobe" was shot during last year's NBA playoffs when Lee and cinematographer Matthew Libatique spent a day with the Lakers standout.
Following its Tribeca bow, "Kobe" will be televised May 16 on Espn.
Now in its third year, the Tribeca/Espn Sports Film Festival showcases independent films about sports and competition. This year's lineup of eight titles includes films devoted to the Little League of Nascar, a Swedish men's synchronized swimming team, a baseball hero's return to his Cuban home for the first time in more than 45 years and a teenage debate team from Qatar that travels...
