Stars: Nick Damici, Ethan Embry, Tom Noonan, Tina Louise, Rutanya Alda, Caitlin O’Heaney, Lance Guest, Erin Cummings, Larry Fessenden | Written by Eric Stolze | Directed by Adrián García Bogliano
Nick Damici has been a familiar face in the horror genre for years now. Primarily working with writer/director Jim Mickle, on whose films he has also co-written, this gruff, large but still oddly charming presence has impressed before but he was never given a true lead part until this film. With Mickle uninvolved, although long-time cohort Larry Fessenden produces and pops up in a cameo role, Damici takes centre stage in Late Phases, a film with the wonderfully juicy premise of a blind ‘Nam veteran getting revenge on a werewolf after it kills his best friend.
It feels appropriate to base this review around Damici as he is the chugging motor which drives the film and the beating heart which actually makes you invest in it.

Serial killers bring their own brand of sinister scares to a carnival attraction one Halloween night in The Funhouse Massacre. With the new horror film hitting theaters today, we caught up with director Andy Palmer to discuss working with Robert Englund, creating a genuinely scary haunted house atmosphere on set, and more.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Andy. How did you get involved with The Funhouse Massacre and what attracted you to the story?
Andy Palmer: Thanks so much for reaching out, I really appreciate it. I got involved with Funhouse and more specifically Ben Begley and Renee Dorian when we cast Renee in Daric Loo’s film Awaken a few years ago. We had a blast working with her on that film, and a year or so later she asked my producing partner Warner Davis and I to help her produce her web series Clued-Less,...

Let’s start off with this really excellent clip of tonight’s season premiere of Face Off. It’s a Wizard of Oz challenge and the artists’ concepts are amazing; this isn’t your 1939 MGM Wizard of Oz. I have a not-surprising preference for the steampunk concept; which is your favorite? I can’t wait to see the finished works tonight.
So much talent. Here’s more info about the new season, including some guest appearances, and a handy list of contestants that you can use to keep track of who’s eliminated every week…

Syfy's highest rated unscripted reality show "Face Off" returns on Wednesday, January 12th and we can't wait to see what magical creations this season's contestants come up with. We're also excited to see where they go. Last year's winner, Conor McCullagh just wrapped production on a little film called, "The Hunger Games." Maybe you've heard of it?
There's a hugely diverse group this year, including a toy designer, a sculptor, a tattoo artist and a high school teacher and contestants range from traditionally trained to self taught. But the real draw? The creatures they make.
This season, the group will have to re-imagine characters from "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," a waterproof sea creatures, bring phobias to life and build dinosaur/human hybrids. The show will again be hosted by Mckenzie Westmore, and judged by makeup artists Ve Neill, Glenn Hetrick and Patrick Tatopoulos.
