Jennifer Lawrence Once Admitted Dreading Immense Popularity Like Kristen Stewart After The Twilight Saga(Photo Credit –Instagram/IMDb)
Jennifer Lawrence is now one of the highest-paid and most famous Hollywood actresses, but there was a time when she was hesitant about gaining overwhelming fame. She even brought in Kristen Stewart’s reference while explaining her thoughts. Both Jennifer and Kristen earned popularity by doing films based on popular books – The Hunger Games and Twilight, respectively. Keep scrolling for more.
The Hunger Games franchise, starring Jennifer, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth in the lead roles, was based on Suzanne Collins’s best-selling novels. The films earned millions at the box office, with the second installment, Catching Fire, being the most loved film among the series. Exclusive: Skydance has taken on the challenge of turning the bestselling YA fantasy novel series Ranger’s Apprentice into a live action film, with the hope it can become a franchise. Skydance has gotten control of the John Flanagan book series, and has closed a big deal with Hidden Figures helmer Ted Melfi to adapt, direct, and produce the film. Kim Quinn will also be producer.
Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger will produce alongside Melfi and Quinn. Flanagan will be executive producer, and Matt Grimm will oversee for Skydance.
I’ve heard that Melfi has made a deal worth high 7-figures if the movie gets made. His task will be to take the first two volumes – The Ruins of Gorlan & The Burning Bridge – and get a franchise off the ground that focuses on an orphan named Will who becomes an apprentice to a group of mysterious protectors known as the Rangers.

Netflix viewers spent a lot of time tracking The Night Agent last week.
The thriller from Sony Pictures TV and creator Shawn Ryan rocketed to No. 1 on the streamer’s internal charts for the week of March 20-26. The Night Agent, which premiered on March 23, amassed 168.17 million hours of viewing worldwide over its first four days.
That figure is the third highest ever for a series debut since Netflix started releasing its weekly top 10 lists in July 2021; only Wednesday (341.23 million hours) and Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (196.2 million) rank higher. The Night Agent was among the top 10 series in 93 countries and No. 1 in 78 of those.
Based on a novel by Matthew Quick, The Night Agent follows a low-level FBI agent (Gabriel Basso) who works in the basement of the White House. He’s tasked with manning a phone that never rings — until it does, putting him in the middle of a far-reaching conspiracy.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for “Fathers,” the Season 1 finale of “The Night Agent,” now streaming on Netflix.
There goes the administration.
After a season spent hunting down –– and being hunted by –– an elaborate assassination plot against President Travers (Kari Matchett) from within her own office, beaten and bruised FBI Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) thwarts disaster at Camp David in the season finale of Netflix’s “The Night Agent.” But the high body count left in the wake might make it hard to run the country.
The directors of the Secret Service and the FBI are dead. Dozens of agents are also dead and/or guilty of treason in the domestic terrorist attack that would have seen Vice President Ashley Redfield (Christopher Shyer) sworn in as Commander in Chief. Instead, Redfield is outed as the engine of the power grab; and Diane Farr (Hong Chau), Travers’ chief of staff,...

All Together Now is finally coming to Netflix, and we could not be more excited. Starring Auli'i Cravalho as the main character, Amber Appleton, the movie follows Amber's life as a teenager with musical aspirations and eternal optimism. However, she is clinging to a huge secret - she's homeless and lives with her mom on a yellow school bus. All Together Now is based on Matthew Quick's Sorta Like a Rock Star, which depicts 17-year-old Amber as unflinchingly optimistic about her dreams to pursue music and attend Carnegie Mellon. If you're wondering what happens in the book, here's what to know.
Amber is on a deeply difficult path. Her father left her and her mother when she was just a little girl, and since then, her mother has drifted between jobs and boyfriends, handicapped by her alcoholism. And now, they live on the school bus her mother drives as part of her day job.

Brett Haley’s charming 2018 music drama Hearts Beat Loud should have been the toast of Sundance after its festival premiere. It was a sweet, progressive and warm-hearted crowd-pleaser, the kind that the festival has typically become known for launching, harking back to everything from Little Miss Sunshine to Juno. But polite acclaim didn’t lead to buzzy word of mouth which then failed to secure any box office that summer, a sign that for a certain type of feelgood indie, crossing over from Park City to the multiplex has became harder than it once was.

On the surface, the Ya adaptation All Together Now may seem like something Netflix is releasing in an effort to capture the tween market. Sure, it’s adapted from a Ya novel and has an appealing young cast, but the secret weapon here is that it’s made by an old soul in Brett Haley. The filmmaker made his bones directing veteran actors and actresses who were due starring roles, like Sam Elliott and Blythe Danner, before recently moving towards younger skewing casts. Now, this latest effort of his shows how effective material potentially meant for a younger audience can be in the right hands. Haley’s sure nature and talented direction makes this a family friendly but wholly effective work that’s absolutely heartwarming. For those who were charmed by writer-director Brett Haley’s incisive microbudget debut “The New Year,” or his Sam Elliott-starring Hollywood fable “The Hero,” or his crowdpleasing father-daughter dramedy “Hearts Beat Loud,” it might initially come as a surprise to see his name attached to two glossy, unabashedly sentimental Netflix teen dramas within the same year: February’s “All the Bright Places” and this week’s “All Together Now.” Unexpected as it may be at first, the director’s abrupt lane change is one that his style ought to be able to accommodate. There’s a pervasive sense of warmth in all of Haley’s films, and he has an ease with melodrama and contrivance and cliché that somehow never betrays a hint of cynicism or schmaltz. His films always feel honest, even when the stories he’s chosen to tell aren’t.
Unfortunately, that is the case with his latest.

Filmmaker Brett Haley doesn’t trade in hip cynicism. The director of such low-key charmers as “The New Year,” “The Hero,” and “Hearts Beat Loud” is interested in telling stories about good-hearted people persevering in the face of tough circumstances. Even his happiest endings are tinged with a believable bit of sadness, but they are still just that: happy endings. His latest, the tender dramedy “All Together Now,”

Auli’i Cravalho, the voice of Disney’s Moana and star of their live-tv version of The Little Mermaid, inches away from musicals in All Together Now, Brett Haley’s film of a Ya novel by Matthew Quick: Though her character’s a teen singer who hopes to go pro, the pic gives more attention to her struggle to remain a local ray of sunshine despite being homeless. That’s a tough balancing act for Haley, whose 2018 Sundance entry Hearts Beat Loud shares much with this film — including, unfortunately, trouble making its gently depicted melodramas believable for adults.

Exclusive: Pluto, the puppy Internet sensation of quarantine, has got just herself what she would call “two-legged” representation. The “talking” miniature Schnauzer beloved by stars like Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Sia and Robin Wright has been signed by The Gotham Group, which produced The Maze Runner franchise and Disney+’s Stargirl, and literary agency Sterling Lord Literistic, which has bestselling author Rachel Maddow among its clients. Deadline hears a television project will likely be Pluto’s first pursuit.
Pluto recently found fame with her Pluto Living PSAs, otherwise known as Pluto Service Announcements, in which she “tells’ viewers—whom she calls “two-leggeds”—everything from how to relieve stress during quarantine, to reminding us to appreciate our healthcare workers.
Beginning with a Facebook video on March 17 (see it below), Pluto’s Canada-based owner Nancie Wight decided the terrier would be great at cheering people through quarantine, and thus, a star was born.

The Gotham Group, the management and production company behind the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix film Kodachrome among others, has signed a multi-year first-look deal with Fox 21 Television Studios to create projects for both linear and streaming platforms.

“The Help” is an Oscar machine. While the 2011 drama didn’t win Best Picture, no film has produced more Oscar winners — and all women at that — in the same amount of time since. With Allison Janney’s victory Sunday night for “I, Tonya,” she is the fourth actress from “The Help” to win an Oscar since the film’s release, following Octavia Spencer, Viola Davis and Emma Stone. Who will be next?
The first thing the other ladies of “The Help” need to know is that you need to be nominated against Spencer or in the same year as her if you want to win. As we’ve noted before, all three of Spencer’s nominations so far have been against her pals from the Tate Taylor film. She won Best Supporting Actress for “The Help,” defeating co-star Jessica Chastain, while Davis lost Best Actress to Meryl Streep (“The Iron Lady”). Five years later,...

With The Weinstein Company’s announcement that it will file for bankruptcy, films starring Joaquin Phoenix, Nicole Kidman, and Benedict Cumberbatch hang in the balance. For the producers who have dozens of works in development, so does their peace of mind.
For the last five months, after allegations against co-founder and former co-chairman Harvey Weinstein threw the studio into chaos, they’ve been watching helplessly as the company collapsed — and potentially taking their projects with it. An estimated 40-plus TWC projects for film and television are in limbo, including a Sylvester Stallone TV series, a Judy Garland biopic, and a movie based on Hasbro’s Furby line.
While Quentin Tarantino escaped to Sony, he’s the outlier. Several producers told IndieWire that New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s lawsuit “blew up” their hopes of retrieving work “stuck” at TWC. “I don’t know if anyone can pull anything out of there,...

Having already made it cool to wear heels in dinosaur theme park disasters, Bryce Dallas Howard is moving on to a new challenge. According to Variety, Howard is set to make her feature directorial debut with Sorta Like A Rock Star, a movie based on Matthew Quick’s book of the same name. The story is about an “optimistic high school student” named Amber Appleton who “secretly lives in her mom’s school bus during her senior year after an altercation at home.” (Some rock stars live in a bus while on tour, if you didn’t get the title.)
The Variety story notes that Howard has directed a few short films and a music video in the past, with her first short, “When You Find Me,” making it to the short list of Oscar nominations. It wasn’t nominated, but it came relatively close.

Emma Stone will star in Columbia TriStar's film adaptation of Love May Fail, according to Deadline and Variety. The novel is one of the more recent releases of Silver Linings Playbook author, Matthew Quick. As the book does, the film will revolve around an under-appreciated housewife (Stone) who escapes her cheating husband, returns to her childhood home in South Jersey, re-seeks human decency, and attempts to save herself, as well as the legacy of a former, scandal-plagued teacher of hers. If that dynamic kind of gives you flashbacks to Irrational Man, fear not — elevators should play a much lesser role in this project, which has been scripted by Mike White and is now in need of a director.
