Part of the reason seasoned action movie fans like to invest themselves so much in the “John Wick” franchise is its self-awareness, and the choice of consciously presenting some character archetypes is a testament to that. The globally expanded underworld provides ample scope to work with different sets of characters in each installment, and the ever-expanding universe of John Wick received some exciting new additions in “John Wick Chapter 4,” with some of them allying with the death dealer in his war against the High Table, some going against, and some looking to profit using the opportunity provided by the in-fighting. We will take a closer look at some of these characters and discuss the future possibilities of the franchise with them.

[Editor’s note: Spoilers ahead for “John Wick: Chapter 4.”]
John Wick has been through a lot in nine years. The sullen hitman, played by Keanu Reeves, tried to retire from the profession back in the first movie and mourn his late wife, only to get dragged back into action in search of vengeance for his dead dog. From there, John just can’t catch a break. He’s forced back into service for the sequel, which ends with a contract on his head by the High Table, and decides to take the whole hitman enterprise down by the end of chapter three.
In the fourth entry, out this weekend, the renegade assassin closes in on his target, setting his sights on High Table boss Marquis Vincent de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård) even as the marquis hopes to take John down first.
Per usual with the “John Wick” movies, the stakes of the story are mostly just...

Massive spoilers for "John Wick: Chapter 4" follow.
Throughout "John Wick: Chapter 4," both friend and foe ask John (Keanu Reeves) what he thinks the ending to his story is. His enemies are like a Hydra, Winston (Ian McShane) declares, and if he keeps chopping off heads, more will appear. That's why John seeks a duel with the Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård) so that he can permanently get the High Table off his back. John wins the duel, but it turns out the only freedom he can get is in death; Winston, the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), and John's dog show up for the funeral.
Now, the tone of the ending feels definitive, but the execution leaves some leeway. After remembering his wife Helen (Bridget Moynahan), John collapses in a wide shot. Cue a cross-dissolve to New York City, then cut to his gravestone. It seems hard to believe John Wick...

In his prolonged career of manhunting filled with death and violence, the rugged, dreaded hitman John Wick has come across a number of interesting characters who deal in a similar trade to his own. John has shown them his professional courtesy, irrespective of whether their allegiance matches his or not. Also, during his encounters with these former associates, none were shown to be equal to his skills in armed or unarmed combat. The fourth installment of the series “John Wick: Chapter 4” introduces Caine, John’s old friend, a visually impaired assassin, yet one so astoundingly skilled that he can go toe to toe with the legendary Baba Yaga and, at times, best him in terms of sheer skill. Donnie Yen, the revered Hong Kong-based martial artist primarily known for his Ip Man movies, is no stranger to blind warrior roles, as he played the blind monk Chirrut Imwe in the Star Wars franchise.

Spoiler Alert: Spoilers are ahead for “John Wick: Chapter 4,” now playing in theaters.
After killing countless High Table henchmen, falling down hundreds of stairs and dueling one blind master swordsman, Keanu Reeves’ John Wick is…dead?
“John Wick: Chapter 4” ends with Wick seemingly six feet under, after succumbing to three gunshot wounds he suffered during his final duel with Caine (Donnie Yen). Winston (Ian McShane) and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) even pay their respects at the master assassin’s tombstone, which is located next to his wife’s final resting place.
Before he died, however, Wick finally freed himself from the High Table’s clutches. Instead of firing his third and final bullet in his duel against Caine, Wick held onto the round and shot the Marquis Vincent de Gramont (Bill Skarsgard), who had walked over to deliver the final blow to Wick before checking to see...

Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola’s heartwrenching Handle with Care doc has been picked up by Peacock in the U.S.
Handle with Care, which debuted on ITV in the UK and is produced by TriForce Productions, sees Akingbola tell the story of his upbringing after he was adopted by parents of a different ethnicity to his own. He also meets others who have experienced the British care system, including the likes of Save Me star Lennie James and athlete Kriss Akabusi, in order to build up a picture.
The doc tells a “positive story” of growing up in care, Akingbola recently told Deadline.
He will be familiar to Peacock subscribers, having played Geoffrey the butler in the first two seasons of the NBCUniversal streamer’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot, which was recently renewed for a third series.
Akingbola said Peacock is the “natural home” due to the “parallels...

This article contains major John Wick: Chapter 4 spoilers. Be warned!
It’s probably not what you expect when going into a movie with “Chapter 4” in the title. Despite a three-hour running time, and plenty of rumblings in the press about the next John Wick flick possibly being the last one, only a precious few actually anticipated John Wick would die by the movie’s end.
And yet—and yet, dear reader—that certainly appears to be the case when the credits roll in John Wick: Chapter 4. After receiving a seemingly mortal wound from his old friend turned enemy, the blind super assassin, Caine (a magnificent Donnie Yen), Keanu Reeves’ ultimate action hero asks his father figure—who also shot him that one time—Winston (Ian McShane) to “take me home.” Winston agrees, and Jonathan walks quietly, triumphantly, into the rising sun above La Basilique du Sacré-Cœur. He’s a destitute figure in the moment,...

I’m guessing that a lot of action blockbuster movies aficionados have been thinking that the multiplexes have been pretty quiet this year so far. I mean the second Avatar swam in just before the end of 2022. As usual, the Winter has seen lots of horror thrillers, plus a couple of superheroes swooped in for the latest installment of their respective franchises. Ah, now there’s another franchise that brings a smile to the “big stunt spectacle” film fans. The fellow at the tentpole’s forefront doesn’t have a “tech suit” or a sculpted rubber and cape ensemble. No sir, though his fighting attire is a simple black suit, filled with a massive arsenal. His skill is his “super-power”, as we turn the cinematic page to John Wick: Chapter 4.
