Australian duo Empire of the Sun are back to usher in a new era with their new single, “Changes.” Stream it below.
Produced by Empire of the Sun with frequent collaborator Peter Mayes and Swedish hitmakers Vargas & Lagola, Magnus Lidehäll, and Pontus Winnberg, “Changes” features a sleek, glossy electropop instrumental with big, sweeping synths. Equally dramatic are the lyrics about digging deep within: “We go far to the early break of dawn/ We wearing faces that we’ve never worn before.”
The Michael Maxxis-directed music video was filmed in Thailand and follows a young kid who witnesses a spaceship crash. Watch it below.
In a statement, Lord Nick Littlemore said the song “represents the shifting sands of time, empires rise and fall but the sun shall shine on.” He also invited listeners to “come once more into the world we’ve created, delve deeper within and be rewarded with its ever-expanding story,...

Four years after the release of her most recent album “I Never Learn,” Swedish songstress Lykke Li dropped two new songs, “Deep End” and “Hard Rain.” The songs are the first tracks to emerge from her long-percolating fourth album “So Sad So Sexy”. The album is due on June 8 on RCA Records — Li’s first release with the label.
“Hard Rain,” which is being promoted as the single, was produced by 2016 Grammy producer of the year Jeff Bhasker, Malay and T-Minus. “Hard Rain” was produced by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij.
The songs mark a stylistic departure for the singer, incorporating elements of the Swedish-pop sound of her previous albums with a more hip-hop/alt-r&B-leaning production.
A rather confusing line in the press release announcing the songs reads “Prior to recording this album, Lykke was busy nurturing liv, her love-child with Andrew Wyatt, Björn Yttling, Pontus Winnberg and Jeff Bhasker,...

Miike Snow have criticised artists who make "obvious" dance music. The Swedish and American trio claimed that too many acts in the charts are copying DJ Calvin Harris. Discussing their new album Happy To You with the Daily Star, Andrew Wyatt said: "We knew we didn't want to sound like Calvin Harris. Calvin is cool, but his techno sound has been copied so much it's taken over the chart. "We couldn't allow ourselves to have anything with a similar rhythm." Pontus Winnberg added: "That four-to-the-floor techno sound is so obvious now. We wanted to push dance music forward." (more)...

Happy 30th Birthday Britney Spears To celebrate the birth of one of the greatest pop stars ever, I have taken it upon myself to choose and rank the 30 Best Britney Spears Songs Of All Time. This is my opus to Brit-Brit and I hope you enjoy it, study it, debate it with friends or family, and leave your own opinions to her Greatest Songs in our comments section. There’s a lot to get to, so let’s kick things off with #30: 30. “Lucky” (link) “Lucky” is the Britney Spears version of telling your doctor about sexual questions you have: “So yeah, a friend of mine… um… Lucky… was wondering if you can get pregnant on a sex swing. My friend.” See, in this song, “Lucky” is the name of a world famous star, who has everything: Money and fame… but no love. I believe this phrasing in the chorus...

They like to wear surgical masks. They're two-thirds Swedish. They might just be the favorite band of the coolest kids you know. Meet Miike Snow. All of this stuff might be new to you, but all you need to know at this point is that the band will take the stage at the MTV Movie Awards post-party this Sunday around 11:30 p.m. Et, and you can tune into MTV.com to watch the show stream live.
Check out their set, and the rest will become clear. Comprised of American writer/producer Andrew Wyatt and the Swedish writing/producing team of Chris Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg (the duo won a Grammy for penning Britney Spears' "Toxic"), the band mixes an indie-pop vibe with electronic rock beats. While not yet a household name, Miike Snow is the band that the household names are listening to. Having only released one album thus far, last summer's self-titled debut, Miike Snow has quickly gained a following among the blogosphere and established acts alike.
Along with inescapable pop sensation Ke$ha, "American Idol" breakout star Adam Lambert named the trio's debut as one of his favorite albums of 2009, even if he had a little trouble pronouncing the name. He raved to MTV News, "That album is unbelievable!" Blogger Perez Hilton also told MTV News that Miike Snow was one of his favorite acts at this years' South by Southwest festival, and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" director Edgar Wright said the group's uptempo dance track "Animal" was one of his favorites...

You're forgiven if a glance at the top of this year's Lollapalooza bill makes you feel like you've fallen into a wormhole to 1991. Between old-school headliners Tool, Depeche Mode and Jane's Addiction (fellow old-schoolers the Beastie Boys had to drop out due to Adam Yauch's cancer diagnosis) and new school topliners who channel the good old days (Kings of Leon's 1970s Am radio rock, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' '80s new wave and the Killers' early U2 pose), everything old is new again.
But dig a bit deeper and there's plenty of gold on the Chicago waterfront among the 100-ish bands who will sprawl out over the mile-long festival site in Grant Park, which kicks off tomorrow. Your legs might give out before you make it to all these sets, but catch half of them and you'll thank yourself (or me) later.
